About this restaurant

  • Innovative
  • Great for outdoor dining
  • Outstanding value
Our buzzing atmosphere attracts locals, families, young professionals and we also are also welcoming to dogs. The Three Stags is a cool, laid-back place to enjoy a drink with your friends and also to make some new ones. The eco-friendly ethos runs through the heart of the place and it has a really trendy and entertaining vibe that doesn"t align with the usual traditional neighbourhood pub. We work hard to create a menu that is exciting, and a little out of the ordinary, using the most fresh, seasonal ingredients. The whole place is packed full of personality, from the funny and friendly staff, to the eccentric clientele, right down to the quirky wallpaper; but that's all part of the charm and that's what the Three Stags has in spades- charm.

We had a late dining reservation on a Sunday, so unfortunately the restaurant was out of pretty much everything but pizza. However, the pizza was excellent and the staff was very friendly.

Excellent food, friendly staff, great service. The roast dinner was fantastic, my new local for sure. Very cool, laid back place with great food. Looking forward to trying a pizza soon. Annie

An excellent range of fresh food and good drinks (brilliant choice of non-alcoholic and alcoholic choices). Readily able to cater for a diner with Coeliac's Disease.

No problems with the booking; the table was reserved and ready for us. The serving staff were very helpful and friendly. The lamb in particular was very good indeed and the gravy was lovely!

My friends and I went for Sunday lunch. We all ordered roasts which were excellent but alas we had to wait an hour since we ordered for the food to show up. We then had to point out and ask for gravy which was not delivered when the roasts arrived. When I pointed out the slow service, the staff apologized and said the new chef was settling in. We subsequently ordered desserts, which again took a long time to arrive and sadly the apple and rhubarb was a little al dente / under cooked. I will go back there again, when hopefully things are settled, but will be wary if I want a full lunch turnaround within two hours.

Lunch was fine but menu options were limited. Not many vegetables.

We ordered the fish finger sandwiches, which were rather disappointing. There wasn't much fish in them, and the bread was a bit stale. Chips were ok.

This is all about the way in which the manager and staff make a pretty grim location (busy junction, functional streets etc) utterly forgettable once you step inside and receive such a warm welcome. We had booked for Sunday lunch and had a table reserved for us upstairs which was pleasantly laid out. The manager was attentive and wore a beaming smile. The actual roasts were really very good indeed and despite it being near 3.30pm, the full menu was available. Dessert was absolutely unnecessary but having spied an example downstairs, they proved a must have order. Very kindly, a food box was provided for me to return home with (very undeserved) treats for the cat. Excellent atmosphere and food to match.

We were 2 going for Sunday lunch. Whilst the service and ambiance was really good I found the experience just generally ok. The meat was lovely and the veg not over cooked but it was the gravy that lacked any flavor which let the whole meal down.

It was disappointing that when we arrived they had run out of roast lamb and had also run out of one of the desserts. I would advise people to go early in the afternoon for Sunday Lunch to avoid disappointment.
