We should have walked out upon arrival. There was no welcome, staff seem put out when we said we had booked a table, they never asked for a name or details. The place wasn't busy at the time but all the tables are so close together. After being seated we were offered the menu and asked what drinks we would like. The beer was ok, the pint of cola was warm and flat, yet they charged almost £5 for that. Poppadoms and dips were good, very nice pickle dip. Starter of paneer was burnt on the outside, tikka achari starter was like rubber and flavourless. Side salad was brown. Ordered Naga chicken as a main, came like a soup. Wasn't spicy at all, tasted of tomato soup with a fee chunks of rubbery chicken thrown in, and I was cold. Staff all the time whisking plates away whilst you're still eating. No customer service, tables weren't strong enough to put you're elbows on. Wouldn't recommend at all.

Least sounding Indian restaurant I've ever been to and although we had the seat by the door it didn't affect our meal.
Restaurant was packed given it was a rugby international evening and that was the main reason for booking being so close to Waterloo station.
Food was delivered quick and hot all as expected.
Nothing negative to report.
Perfect for what we needed.
Will definitely return.

I booked a table well in advance as we had a group and arrived well on time but was still kept waiting for 45mins. They were asked repeatedly to hurry up.
They gave us a drink while we waited, but I made sure that we were not charged for them.
The food was mixed - some inedible, some marked on the menu as mild but actually unpleasantly hot. In addition to being kept waiting so long, and then again for the food, that most of it was wasted as it was so late at night.
We didn't leave a tip and won't be returning.

Location was good. I booked table at 1PM and I was told moments after sitting that chef will leave in about 20 min so I will have to tell all order almost in next 1 min as chef will also take some time to cook the ordered food. Food was ok so if you are looking for proper Indian food (I don't mean spicy or full of chillies), this is average restaurant.

Have been coming up from Brighton to this excellent Indian Restaurant, near Waterloo Railway Station, for some years.
In my opinion it is the best Indian Restaurant in the area.

An unusual and very pleasant variation on Bangladeshi dishes, well presented and very tasty. Service was good although the restaurant was very busy.

Convenient location for meeting up with friends coming from different directions on a work night. Good choice of food above the standard items and the regional specials turned out exceeding expectations. Happy to come again

Friendly staff and the service was good. I like my curries spicy and often when I tell them this, they don't believe me and give me milder than I like. This did not happen here! It was a great curry and had a real kick - just as I like! It gets busy here so if you definitely want to eat here, you may want to book. Décor is nothing to write home about - the place is functional.

This was just not Indian Food. They may claim it as Indian. But the food was quite uncooked. It lacked all Indian spices, it seemed they were just replaced with chillis.

Also, the food seemed to have been cooked at high temperatures. Like the Paneer was burnt from the outside whereas uncooked from the inside.

Whilst the food was excellent when it finally arrived (some of it was a bit cold and the order wasn't 100% correct) the service was too slow. When we complained they said all food took up to 45mins to come as it is cooked to order. That's fair enough but it was actually 1hr 10mins before it arrived.
Shame as the flavours were great and there are some dishes on the menu that differ from your bog standard Indian Restaurant.
Will give them the benefit of doubt this time and will try again, but service and communication will need to be better next time.

We reserved in advance but still had to wait 10 minutes to be seated. Food was average and staff were extremely grumpy. Food was overpriced for what it was.

Very handy for Waterloo Station. Probably about fifty metres away from main entrance.

Welcome and service were good.

Starters were nice. Main dishes decent enough. Nothing exemplary but would happily dine their again.

We waited a bit to get our table despite the fact that we were ontime.
Food was good but service was a little lacking, it was hard to get waiter's attention sometimes.
Price was OK.

The Thames was fine but not of the same standard as some other Indian restaurants. You get the feeling it benefits from it's location rather than the quality of it's food.

Really enjoyed the food at Thames India - the décor is dated but the service is good and the food is really good - a good range of fish dishes on the menu and an excellent authentic tarka dal. Thanks guys.

I went to The Thames Indian for dinner with two friends. I have been before and the restaurant is always pretty busy. Its location makes it ideal if you are, as we were, going to the IMAX or if you are arriving or leaving from Waterloo station. The food is pretty decent, the service fairly efficient and the prices reasonable. Although not particularly outstanding, due to its location, I would certainly go again.

Usual staples at this restaurant serving a mix of tourists and travellers. Jalfrezi was hot but not excessively so. Veggies well spiced. Service was prompt. No after dinner mints though! Good for that spare hour before (or after) your train.

First all of the restaurant didn't have my booking which is never a good start is it? Then one of my party (there were 4 of us in total) was running late by approx. 15 mins. The servers must have asked us 3 times in that 15 minutes if we were ready to order. It was verging on rude! It was Friday night and they were obviously busy but I felt they wanted to get us in and out as quick as possible.
Having said all that, the food was utterly outstanding.

The food was very good and represented good value for money. The service however was very kurt and this had an effect on the scores given for service and ambiance as you felt you were kind of in the way. If the service was warmer then the overall score would easily have been 4*.

The above said we went out to eat good Indian food and we got this from everything we ordered. All the food was nicely presented and tasted really good...the best one, food wise, in a while.

Its quite cosy, but we had a very enjoyable evening.

Visited the restaurant with three friends.
The service was ok. The drinks were ok.
The food was what let the experience down; It was bland, tasteless and completely uninspiring.
We will not be returning to this Indian restaurant.

A wonderful restaurant that took me far to long to get around to visiting.
The food was absolutely fantastic, The Thames Indian has put a unique spin on their dishes and it works beautifully.
The food is cooked to perfection, our Nan and Bhaji were especially tasty and missing much of the unnecessary grease you often find in other restaurants.
If you find yourself in Waterloo and need an evening meal I highly recommend a visit.

Well decorated Indian restaurant with friendly staff and attentive service. Good choice of menu options and not too spicy unless requested. House wine not bad either and good value for money. Would recommend for larger groups and family outings.

We went here on the way home from an afternoon show. The waiter gave myself, wife and three teenage children a look as if to say "what are you doing here?" and I don't think he believed we had booked (even though it was through Open Table) and this set the tone for the service with the waiter more concerned about looking at himself in the mirror than attending to us.
The food was very good with a very varied menu with good choices for my vegetarian daughter as well as interesting house specials.
Understandably the clientele is mainly groups out for a meal after work and they are probably not bothered about friendly service but for us it didn't quite round off the day in the way I had hoped it would.
