We had accidentally made our reservation for the wrong day and showed up on a particularly busy Saturday night. The hostess was as nice as could be and found us a table within a few minutes. I was taking my son and his roommate, both VMI cadets, to dinner and they were grateful for the excellent service and the excellent, non-mess hall food. A great experience all around.
Visiting our daughter at W&L. This was our first time dining here. They were very busy with events and parents in town. Our reservation was made well in advance, but our table was not ready. Once seated, the dinner was fantastic. Mahi special and Surf & Turf with scallops were exceptional! Ashley our server was lovely. Well worth the wait. High recommend and we will be back!
They were so accommodating when we were running late for our reservation for two with five people.
Food was great, service was great.
Great service - friendly and attentive. Good food.
Brandon was an excellent server. The meal was great.
I love eating at the Sheridan Livery! Every time I need to get a reservation to a fancy restaurant that still has character, I go here. Also, the chicken piccata is to die for!
We always make it a point to stop in to eat at this wonderful establishment, the most recent trip while we were in town for MockCon. Everything was incredible, from the calamari and mushroom appetizers to the scallops and steak for my husband. The red wine paired with his meat was incredible. We can’t wait to come back when we are in town for our daughter’s graduation from W&L this May.
We enjoyed our family dinner immensely
Always a great choice for dining in Lexington, Virginia!
Grits with shrimp were very watery. Shrimp also seemed a little old
Always have ya great meal there. Our waiter,Brandon was very friendly & prompt. Thank you.
Will be back ASAP.
Service was horrible, not at all attentive and they were not busy. Plates were VERY small servings especially for the price...
None of our party enjoyed the evening out, our last visit.
Friendly waitstaff; food was delicious. Fellow diners enjoyed their meals as well. The only negative is lack of parking.
I asked our waitress to give you our comment card. Our son went to VMI class of 2003 and played football. We were from Arizona and flew in for all the home games for 4 years and stayed at your Inn and had many meals at the restaurant. So happy to hear that it is still owned and run by the same family. We will be back. My husband had the filet and I had the salmon both were outstanding! We loved Ashley our waitress. What a personable gal!!! Keep up the good work everyone!!!
Absolutely Loved it!!! Relaxing, great service and food.
I always love coming to the Sheridan livery. I can count on a tasty special or select from one of the other delicious entrées off of the menu. The ingredients are always fresh and the service is delightful. The atmosphere is very romantic.
Great food, waitress was nice and attentive to our needs.
Food was outstanding, service was very good
Food was mediocre. Should update interior. Stuffy. Other great restaurants in town.
Our group enjoyed a lovely day outside on the patio. The staff was very accommodating with members comings and goings. Good food.
We dined here during a busy VMI weekend, hoping to have a special meal with good friends. Getting a reservation was not a problem. The food was very good, as always. However, our server rushed us throughout our meal, making our time with friends much less enjoyable. We were not anywhere close to the end of dining hours, so there was no excuse for the rushing and general lack of pleasantness during service. Quite disappointed, to say the last.
Good service and great food.
The meal was not as good as previous times-the Caesar salad was not as good specifically and I miss the strip steak option.
The Livery Inn is one of the few places that will accommodate larger groups on the weekend, even without advance reservations. The downside is that they often seem understaffed when that demand exceeds their expectations. The food, service, and ambience are good but not great. I would consider returning but probably only when I have a larger group and am unable t get into someone of the better locations in town.
Great food service good and food fresh and well prepared
Wife's food was over cooked she had to send it back. When spoke to our server her explanation was that they had a new cook. My food was like rubber and very greasy. Complete Disappointment .
Wide variety of meals that never disappoint. Great drink selection, quiet with very attentive staff...but not too much. This is my wife and I's go to for a nice night out or a celebratory dinner. In our opinion it is the best place you can have a lovely quiet meal in Lexington....highly recommend!
Pleasantly surprised
We had never been to the Sheridan Livery Inn before and we thoroughly enjoyed it. It's an interesting space, quite spread out, including an outside dining area. We sat in a booth which was great for conversation.
The menu was interesting and varied. We had several different items. All were done to perfection.
The staff was quite friendly and helpful.
I hope to return during future visits to Lexington.
Diverse menu. Great seafood salad. Good selection of local brews.
We recently dined at The Sheridan Livery Inn during W&L Parents' Weekend. Stuffed mushroom and bruschetta appetizers were excellent. All four of us enjoyed our entrees. The service was casual but attentive. Would definitely go back.
Excellent staff. Delicious food. Great variety. Great choice
I was very impressed with this place. The food is excellent. I ordered the ravioli and loved it. My daughter and I liked this restaurant so much that we went back again two days later.
Great food , Great wait staff great entertainment !
Good selection of well prepared dishes. Friendly server who was knowledgeable and accommodating.
Good variety of menu items, at a variety of price points. Good value for the money and dining environment.
Small portions, overpriced. Flavor was good. Room is a little noisy as there are no soft surfaces.
Overall food was good, we had the mussels and the broth had great flavor. Chicken piccata was good, would have preferred grilled chicken though. My boyfriend had the ahi tuna and he said it was good too.
Avoid patio on Monday for dinner conversation. Music super loud.
We got the black bean and mango tacos as an appetizer. They were okay, but nothing special. Then we got a pork chop and the salmon 1/2 off specials, both of which were cooked well and very inexpensive. The food was good and the service was great. Overall, seemed like a good place for simple, but reliable food.
