Italian
For over four decades the Saucy Noodle Restaurante has been a Denver landmark at the same location at 727 South University Boulevard. The little spot, known to locals throughout the Washington Park, Cherry Creek and Bonnie Brae districts was originally known as Jim Sano's when it was purchased by the Badis family in 1964. Sam Badis, a former Big Band Leader and Denver entrepreneur, held court with a gregarious smile and warm welcome and served up what is arguably the best pizza and pasta in town. Traveling the country in the '60's and 70's Sam would frequently buy unique antiques in small towns and haul them back to the Saucy Noodle to adorn the restaurant's, now famous, red velvet walls.

A server who knows the wine and food made the experience even better. The fried artichokes was a unique and delicious menu item.

Love this place. The staff are always super friendly. I would eat their house red sauce on just about anything.

Fantastic service and food! We come here regularly and appreciate the vegetarian sauce options. This place is a gem in Bonnie Brae.

We have been going to the Saucy Noodle for years, in fact it is one of our favorite restaurants. The food is consistently delicious whether you get takeout or dine in. The service is top notch. We highly recommend having dinner at the Saucy Noodle, and especially if you haven't dined there. You won't be disappointed.

I understand that things a different now but our experience was less than desirable for the price of the meal. Not many tables and service was poor. Food was mediocre. Not even close to our typical experience. We came down from the mountains to enjoy a meal and some city time.

I've been going to the Saucy Noodle for over 20 years. I am a big fan. This is the first time I've been since Covid hit. We sat inside. Everything was way spaced out and the staff was being safe. I felt completely comfortable being there. Food was awesome as usual. My husband tried the mac and cheese this time and it was delicious.

2 orders of pesto penne w artichoke hearts, $20. ea. Huge portion of pasta, but both only had a few leaves of choke heart. I asked for the hearts. Got about 12 slices. Also, sign outside says,"If you don't like garlic, stay home." I nor my guest tasted garlic. If I go again, I'll ask if garlic is in everything & I'll ask for 2x more. We asked for gluten free pasta, waitress forgot to tell us that is $2 extra.

Food was poor quality and over priced. For example, they charged us $9 for one meatball! We were also the only people in the entire restaurant.

I would highly recommend another restaurant!

While I realize much has changed in the food industry, the saucy noodle isn’t a shadow of its former self. Really poor service, the food was just OK. Very small portions and really tight with the protein. My sausage and peppers had 4 thin slices of sausage. But was basically plain noodles and a smear of sauce with a hint of sausage and peppers. $22?? Really?? Very disappointing even in these trying time.

The server was helpful and patient. We did not feel rushed. I got the lasagna, and it was a little dry. I always order it, and that was unusual. It has always been very good in the past.

Great menu with the traditional that the Saucy Noodle is famous for:
Best pizza, great calamari and Noodle dishes like homemade lasagna and shrimp scampi with linguine.
New is their amazing variety of mac & cheese with interesting twists.
Also like their salads and desserts.
Great wine selection and beer on tap.
Enjoyed our dinner very much

Great service and traditional Italian look/feel restaurant. The salad and appetizers were great! The meals varied from overcooked to frozen so hard to recommend. Lots of potential but the mains need to be good!

The food here is always good ... hearty, well-prepared and generous portions. In fact, a lot of times my husband and I each order a salad and then share an entrée. When we both order an entrée we know that we'll each have enough for a nice lunch the following day. We both love the gorgonzola salad dressing and the lasagna, although the sausage and peppers is excellent, as well.

The restaurant was very out of date and not very clean or inviting . Staff was cleaning while there were still people dining. Chairs were put on tables before closing. Staff also eating and drinking alcohol at bar rather than waiting on Customers. Food tasted old as if were from previous day. Bread tasted stale and meatball was cold when served. Not a good first impression at all. Service was not very attentive.

We went here on a week night around 8 pm. They were just busy enough to make things feel energetic. The menu had many choices. Salads were good, wine was very decent and our meals were excellent. The red sauce is excellent.
Will be back to try more options on the menu.

Toasted cheese raviolis with spicy marinara were excellent.

Portions are large, best to take family style share approach.

Chicken parm was excellent, gives our North End in Boston a run for its money.

Went to the Saucy Noodle with my husband for an impromptu date. Was delicious! Portion sizes were great and they had more than just your typical Italian Fare. Pretty good variety. Parking is a nightmare though, there does not appear to be any public parking for the resto itself, except for a few spots out front that fill quickly. We had to park about a block away on a residential street and walk over. But still totally worth it!
