   We got to the venue and were ignored for quite a while. Managed to track down a female member of staff who seemed to be actively trying to ignore us. We told her we had a 3.15 booking which she said was not on her system but said we could sit "over there" and pointed us to a table. We were not seated, nor were we given menus, nor was it explained to us how to order. We found a scan to order sticker and then found that the menu was different to the one online. After about 15 minutes, a kind member of staff come over as we had our daughter with us, and he took her to get an Easter egg in the garden, which was lovely. When he bought her back, we asked him about the ordering system and he kindly gave us menus and took our order. We then waited quite a while for our drinks and had to ask if they were coming as we thought we were not getting them until the food came out. The food came and my partner was quite content with his steak. My avocado and poached egg left alot to be desired. Far too much lime squeezed into the avocado, and my egg was so runny that the whites were soft and in some parts still clear (basically uncooked) so I couldn't eat them. My crumble then came out and the chef had accidentally made it with salt instead of sugar so I couldn't eat that either. The thimble of custard that accompanied it was tasty though, although finished by my daughter in about 3 teaspoons. I explained to the gentleman serving us what had happened and he apologised and gave us complimentary prosecco. An overall terrible experience, improved slightly by the lovely chap serving. I definitely wouldn't come again though.

   Staff didn’t know about our booking and complained that the offer we had booked was not currently available but gave it to us. Not our problem and don’t want to here staff complain about it to us.

   Delicious roast and great atmosphere. Service was a bit slow but the staff were friendly.

   My date and I were seated at our table, then a barman came over and offered to take our order, but then never came back to our table. We ended up going directly to the bar to place our order which is fine, but why ask if you can take our order but then you don’t actually come back to take the order. My other issue was that there were so many people with pets, it was literally like having a drink in Battersea dogs home. Dogs don’t bother me per say, but I draw the line at having dogs playfully jump up at me whilst I’m having a drink. Not everyone’s likes dogs so I think it’s a bit unfair to potentially exclude people from your pub because of that, and what about people who genuinely have pet allergies. The Regent is a big pub, they could easily provide a space for people without pets, which I they should consider. We were so put off by our experience , we literally had one drink and promptly left the Regents. We ended up having dinner in Pho which was much nicer and we could have a conversation without having to strain to hear over barking dogs .

   We had high hopes for The Regent. It certainly looks nice and has a friendly atmosphere. But, sadly, the food was just so so. Sunday road was tiny and while it again looked good and, in fairness, tasted nice, there wasn't much of it and it felt more like a starter which isn't great for £13.95.

   Pleasant place for Sunday lunch. It was really near the station. Probably didn't need to book as there were a few spare tables (although we were early so it may have been busier later). The wine and beer selection was pretty decent. We chose the Roast beef. The food was great and it was a generous portion and tasty. My one complaint was the amount of gravy. The entire plate was swimming in gravy and overwhelmed the flavours of the meat and veg. A little lighter on the gravy would have made this an excellent lunch. We will go back, but not straightaway.

    I come here a lot and really enjoy the food and atmosphere. But, on this occation we arrived and there was no table reserved (or appologie for the error) and then the service was slow and the cutlary was not brought etc. - Also, the THURSDAY STEAK NIGHT shown on there website has not been on for months - which we only found out after we had started a tab and had a few drinks (if we had know we would have gone elsewhere). its just a bit of a shame as i love the place and the food is/was excellent - ill just put it down as a bad day....
