Went for a ladies brunch for the first time in the food and the ambience was great! Jacob our waiter was on point and never let our bottomless Mamosa Glass get empty, despite that the restaurant was packed for Sunday brunch. I’ve greatly appreciated that they didn’t push us out the door even after we were done eating to turn the table over. Definitely going back!

The Red Door has that perfect pairing of quaint, intimate size while maintaining an energetic, chic vibe. Creative menu with very fresh ingredients. Execution is sometimes just a hair off (vegetables on my scallop dish were a little undercooked), but the food is still very good. Prices are a little high for the execution level. They have a great wine bottle list, but their wine-by-the-glass list is very limited to the same fruity styles (that wouldn't have paired well with what I was ordering to eat.) Luckily our server was so gracious as to open a bottle of earthier old-world wine for me for just a glass. Their desserts almost all contain nuts too, so our selection was limited since I don't eat nuts in desserts.

Excellent service! As for our dinner, I had the ravioli special, and it was al dente; however, the vegetables were outstanding as was the beet salad. The Beef Wellington was a small portion for the price, but it was still good. The cocktails were very tasty, and the ambience is romantic. It's definitely a great date restaurant.

Came with friends from out of town. A bit apprehensive since ownership is chanaging. However, was not disappointed. We were pleased with our dishes, the wine was great. Good experience all around. They were out of one selection on the menu that we would have ordered, but we worked around it. That is why I didn't give 5 stars.

I always love this place! I go early so it is quiet, it could be loud if it were packed. The food is absolutely amazing and they always have fantastic vegetarian options. Service was spectacular as well.

“Here’s the preset valentines menu, it’s $70” then walks off.

No table touch service was provided once we did get our food.

Had to constantly wave down waiter for everything. Drink refills and such.

Extremely Overpriced plated food!!! Nothing had a great flavor.

We ordered burgers. I had to send mine back as the bun was burned black on one side. When it was brought back, the meat was tasteless and extremely overcooked. The fries were obviously old and overcooked to jest this side of burned. One of the worst meals I have had in the neighborhood. We were hoping for a nice local restaurant in walking distance, but will not return and recommend it as one to be avoided.

I had not been to Red Door in some time but it will now be a regular. The restaurant is located far enough west on Washington that parking is available. The service was good and the food excellent. The locally caught albacore tacos were superior. The hot tea was loose leaf - always a nice touch - and without my asking the waiter brought raw sugar and sweetener with my milk. Nice attention to detail.

We found the food very delicious. The ambience is nice however the hard surfaces tend to result in a noisier atmosphere. My biggest complaint and why I gave the service only three stars Is that the restaurant has a policy that does not allow separate checks. Otherwise it was a very enjoyable evening with excellent service.

Outstandingly inventive food without tipping over into silly. Spiced carrots excellent, could maybe have a bit less heat - we like hot but many probably could not tolerate the heat level. Mushroom hodgepodge really a winner as was the lamb shank and risotto.

Maybe our server was having an off night, but I was disappointed to take two of the executives from my company here. I asked if there were any specials, he replied "No, and we are out of scallops." One of my coworkers asked about beer offerings and he rattled three choices off. My coworker said he wanted something close to a pilsner and the server replied, "you aren't going to get that here." Menu is limited.

I think I would have a better review if the service was better. I didn't think our server was particularly attentive and didn't deserve the mandatory 20% gratuity for large parties. At 20% I was stellar service, not merely good service. Also, as it was a business meeting, our party of 6 needed separate bills which they would not do, nor would they allow us to split the check 6 ways on our credit cards. They would only allow us to split it 4 ways and we had to do the math - so we ended up paying cash and doing the math ourselves and getting 6 copies of the full bill for business purposes. The food was very good - not fabulous - but certainly very good. The ambiance was nice. It looks like a little cottage with wooden tables set up. However, I don't think it was worth the trip from downtown San Diego. Ate there Jan. 6 2017.

The food was alright - I didn't feel like the fish had much flavor (perhaps under salted?) and there was an overreliance on beets and other root vegetables around the main course, but it was still good, and very well cooked (and attractive). The wine list was very good and the service was outstanding. I'd probably go back to try other dishes.

Myself and two friends met up at The Red Door for a late lunch, around 1:00pm. I was surprised that we were still served the brunch menu versus the lunch menu, but maybe they only do brunch on weekends? Regardless, they had a great bottomless mimosa or bellini deal and were pretty consistent in regards to refills. I will say, I think The Red Door is more known for their dinner than brunch/lunch. I ordered a scramble which had fresh ingredients, but it was nothing jazzy. We ordered biscuits + jam to start which were fantastic, very good. I was just a bit let down with my main meal. I would go back here, but probably for dinner.
