We proudly serve contemporary Italian and modern European cuisine with the freshest locally grown and handcrafted products available. We also feature delicious and unique ingredients from around the world. Chef/Owner Luciano Cibelli shops daily, personally selecting every item we serve. He bakes fresh breads, rolls, desserts and all of the pasta in house (including a special Gluten Free Bucatini) and he develops his menus in rhythm with the seasonal San Diego harvest. We love The Red Door. It has been and will continue to be one of our favorite spots in Mission Hills. During the pandemic we have tired our very best to keep them going. We love chef Luciano. He is the best and we will do whatever it takes to keep his restaurant going in our neighborhood!

Its a great neighborhood dining spot and its great that they have reopened to good business, sometimes jard to get a table but that will get better. Owner is a class act, he cooked and delivered meals during the pandemic to first responders!

I love this place! My boyfriend and I have been here about 4 or 5 times now and this place is nothing short of amazing every time. We usually get the beef Wellington (which is to die for) and another entre every time we come, but since this last time was our 4th/5th trip, we decided we would have their specials instead. I'm glad I let my bf pick since we ended up with a bed of this amazing risotto topped with seared Ahi that was out of this world and the best veal tortellini in a creamy mushroom sauce (I think, but whatever it was, I could bathe in it). We told our friends to order the beef wellington and he was so impressed (which we knew he would be). Our server was Ryan and set the tone for the night and our experience even more enjoyable. He knew everything about the cocktails we were asking about and described the food in a way that you couldn't wait to try it. Loved everything and will be coming back, especially for on a Saturday so that we can have another fun experience with Ryan!

Absolutely delicious meal. The lasagna, lobster ravioli and farm to fork were all equally tasty and wonderful. We had not been by for a while and we’re pleasantly surprised by how much the food has changed and all in a good way. The food before was fine but it is stellar now.
The service was outstanding and the outdoor space was delightful.

It was our first time dining here and overall it was nice. The ravioli was tasty and my girlfriend really liked the eggplant parmesan. The inside dinning area has a romantic vibe with dim lighting. Anticipate the plates to be 25-48$. Enjoy!

i ordered clams and pasta, the ink pasta had no flavor they just mixed in black dye the “sauce “ was bland i had at least 3 clams that didn’t open it would have been better to not have put them on my plate.. she had lasagna and that was disappointing as well.. the meat was mushy as if it was boiled then put in the sauce .. their sauce was bland and had little flavor also disappointing.. the bar drinks however were amazing so kudos to the bar staff who made well balanced drinks for the two of us..

As always, we really enjoyed our evening at the Red Door. The Brie appetizer, however, was much "soupier" than we expected. The Beef Wellington, however, was excellent. We are regular customers and absolutely love the food and ambience at The Red Door.

The arugula salad and lasagna were outstanding! The house Pinot Noir was most satisfactory! My companion had the chicken with mushrooms and the chicken was tough and the flavor not compelling. That was a surprise because our usual dining experience is just first-rate, so we'll just say that for some reason "The chicken didn't work" that night, but we'll be back.

The lobster ravioli....We couldn’t taste the lobster in it. Salads very good! The clams were fabulous. Service a bit slow but I understand there are Covid restrictions.

Overall we loved the place. The interior was elegant and comfortable. The outside seating was heated and covered. The service was quick and attention was well kept. The food was solid. Not absolutely spectacular. BUT very good. Also, the drink selection was fantastic. Loved both of my cocktails!

Ordered the filet mignon for $65!!! It was the worst steak I have ever had. Ordered the meat lovers mac and it was a 5/10. ordered the eggplant parm and was 5/10. i will not be going back here

This is one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in San Diego! The staff is so hospitable and kind. My girlfriend has a few dietary restrictions and Luciano (the owner) came out to our table to go through what she could and couldn’t have and what he could custom make for her. Who knew gluten free bucatini with no garlic or onion could be so delicious! I had the seafood risotto which was spectacular. Our server, Ryan, was also super accommodating and helpful! All around fantastic experience and I look forward to going back to The Red Door soon!

Absolutely amazing food. We came here to celebrate my wife's birthday and what a great decision it was. My wife had the beef welington and I had the lamb shank. Both dishes were cooked to perfection and our cocktails were delicious. The staff was very knowledgeable and hospitable. We were very grateful to be able to meet the owner/chef. This was our first but not last visit. Thank you for helping us celebrate my wife's birthday. We came specifically because she wanted a beef welington for her birthday.
