A little pricey for the quality of food, but excellent service
The service was excellent and if you go try the scallops; they are to die for.
Love this place, and have been coming since it opened. Great service - the wait staff and bartenders are top notch. The food is very good, but stops a little shy of being more than that. The primary foods are amazing, everything including the steaks are amazing, but the “sides” seem to be an afterthought- not bad, but not great.
Went for an anniversary dinner and both the hostess and our sever wished us happy anniversary- nice little touch! Server was knowledgeable, attentive and available- food was hot and delicious and cocktails were great!
We had a better experience at The Porters House than we have had at other more expensive steak houses in CLT. Our steaks were delicious and perfectly cooked, cocktails were excellent, and the cheesecake was the best I’ve had in ages. Wait staff was very attentive, which seems increasingly at many establishments lately. Will be back to try out more of the menu.
Was a great overall experience
Was there for a birthday celebration. The food esp steaks are always great and the service was fantastic. Went out if their way to make it special
Food was good, atmosphere was nice. Wine selection by the glass was great.
Food and cocktails were excellent
Food especially ribeye steaks were superb! Service and atmosphere were the icing on the cake including complimentary valet.
Went for our anniversary. As always….excellent on all front!!! Definitely will be back!!!
What an incredible talent of making people feel special this restaurant has! Thank you
We chose The Porter’s House for a special dinner with family we were visiting. The food was good and the staff was attentive. Our particular server did not seem to want to be there. She was competent but not engaging. The manager did come and help a few times and interacted with the children. We were seated very close to a large table of men who were enjoying themselves loudly so that made it difficult to talk at times. The carrot cake was our favorite thing. It reminded me of my mom’s and she made the best carrot cake! We enjoyed our time together and we will return.
Date with my husband
Two adults at dinner. Tab with tip over $200. Ordered ribeye and strip cooked medium rare. Added a house salad and mashed potatoes. Everything a la carte. Kitchen split the salad so we probably got more than the regular amount. Quiet good although they could leave off the radishes. Dressing on the side was appropriate since the dressing is very strong, in a good way. Took about 15 minutes for steaks to arrive after the salad plates were cleared. Our bone-in steaks were about 1 inch thick. Outer edges more like medium to medium well. Had to cut in an inch to get true medium rare. We prefer more seasoning than the chef used. Asked for salt and pepper (none on the tables) and server quickly brought grinder. For "aged prime" cuts, they were pretty average. Frankly, we've had as good from Harris Teeter or Fresh Market. Potatoes were good. Plenty for two. Obviously contained a lot of cream and butter. Creme Brulee for desert. Good texture. Very average flavor. We usually enjoy a bottle of Cabernet Savignon when we eat steaks. Looking at the wine list, I found only two reds under $100. Most were $175+. Way too expensive and probably overpriced wine. They need to give some drinkable options in the $60-70 range. We ordered by the glass. The California Cab was $25 a glass. Quite good but should have been no more than $18 given the bottle is $40 retail. Service was good not exceptional. About what we see at 131 Main and similar restaurants. Happy to see all staff properly wearing masks. (no exposed noses.) No bread offered before the first course. The Porter's House aspires to being Charlotte's best high-end steak house. Based on this visit, they miss the mark on the most important aspect; the meat. For what they deliver, the price is much higher than it should be. And the wine choices... ridiculous.
Food was great! Service was lacking. Rarely felt checked on and we would have spent a lot more $$$ if asked for another drink or item from menu. Plates weren’t cleared promptly and we were waiting to pay for awhile until we just went to the hostess. However Management was eager to listen and was genuinely concerned which made me think maybe the server was just off that night.
Excellent food, excellent service! Wonderful experience.
We had a lovely time and the food was delicious. We were so blessed to sit in a little room for four…nice and private for our little celebration. The staff made that happen without having to ask. Extremely accommodating staff! The land board, the wedge, the steaks and the brownie dessert all received raving reviews from our guests. We look forward to returning.
Had a wonderful meal with an outstanding server..food was delicious! But we found portion size had decreased, but prices did not!
The room was mostly full..so it was noisy..but all servers wore masks and patrons kept masks on until seated.
Excellent staff and the food was outstanding. Highly recommend
Restaurant very loud - had trouble hearing people right across the table.
Grilled salmon sent back TWICE as it was under cooked. That kind of wrecked the meal. It wasn't comped either.
Salad with my steak was ridiculously small. The steak was very good. The au gratin potatoes were ok, but not as big of a side as the waitress indicated so my wife and I shared it and it really wasn't enough to share. The pour on the glass of wine was a little light as well.
In summary, very good steak. Everything else was skimpy, too noisy, undercooked.
Ambiance was great. Steak was delicious. Potatoes and asparagus were tepid
Had not been to the restaurant since early 2020. Several changes since then it seems. It was busy which is good for them, but the food was off a bit, bland, fresh but bland. very loud environment. it is worth trying and many like it, just was a bit disappointing this time.
It was an experience that we chose for my aunt’s 70th birthday, and we all enjoyed the evening tremendously.
My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary and requested a seat someplace quiet. They put us in a lovely room that was just the two of us. The service was great as well as the food. Thank you for making our day so memorable.
We celebrated our anniversary with a wonderful wine dinner.
Service was outstanding.
Great food! Good service! We loved our server! We were celebrating a birthday and we had a great time!
Definitely recommend the sausage platter as an appetizer.
We went traditional and stuck with the 8 oz filets. I love mine Pittsburged and Medium. It came out perfect! Sides are shareable size and we went with the mashed potatoes (kind of bland nothing really special about them) and lobster Mac (absolutely amazing!).
Service was excellent and value was in line with Dels, Palm, Sullivan's, etc
Will definitely visit again.
Food was great and waitress was awesome!
We showed up five minutes early for our appt and we’re rudely told we couldn’t get a seat until 15 to 20 min later even though we had an appt. I shared that that would make us late for our event. He shrugged. Since we didn’t have time to find another place we opted to sit in the bar (our idea not his). It was a special family occasion ruined by him. The service and food in the bar was excellent with good food - but my choice wouldn’t have been to sit in a loud bar.
Wonderful food! Great staff! Very romantic if you want a date night. Great atmosphere for taking clients as well. Sit outside and have a glass of wine then go in to dine. You won't be disappointed!
Great food and awesome staff - recommend Wednesday 1/2 Wine Flight and Pinto Cheese Beignets. Of course steaks and sides are amazing.
The Porterhouse helped my husband and I celebrate our 37th anniversary. Will definitely go back!
First time visit was wonderful. Best steak that I’ve eaten in a very long time. I most definitely recommend this restaurant.
Waiter was very nice. Slightly slow but likely wanted to be sure he was not rushing us. The meal was good. But there are better steakhouses in town.
This is probably the best restaurant in Charlotte!
Awesome service, delicious steaks and nice touch of complimentary champagne for our anniversary! Will be back!
Always has some of the best food and service in Charlotte !
Tonight was no exception!! Tuna, Scallops, and cheese cake! Need I say more?
Kaitlin was our server and she went above and beyond to make our evening great! Thank you Porter’s House
The waitress was very kind . The staff was helpful . We had to ask for a bread basket however . The steaks were cooked perfect only they were not hot they had been surely lying for few minutes before the server brought them to our table .
The overall experience was nice though
