My husband, a friend and I went to The Porch for Dine Downtown. The food was great and the service was excellent. The portions are large and are great for 2 meals. I would definitely recommend to friends

Terrific service and a wonderful menu. No matter what you order, be sure to get some cornbread! It changes frequently but is always tasty and worth it!

we arrived 30 mins early and were seated quickly. waiter greeted us immediately and took our order. waiter had to come back and correct as soup of the day was different than what he stated. food came out in a timely fashion. brussel sprouts, chicken fried pork, and upside down pineapple cake were all delicious from the dine downtown menu. waiter was very friendly and attentive, water glass was never empty!

The Porch had been one of our "go to" restaurants. The food has always been outstanding, the staff friendly and congenial. Unfortunately, our experience on January 7, 2018 did not meet our expectations. Mistakes happen and it is unrealistic to expect perfection from a restaurant, its servers and chefs. The issue is how the restaurant responds when a problem becomes apparent. Does the staff listen, or blame the customer? Does the staff attempt to still meet the customer's reasonable expectations to resolve the problem? Unfortunately, the staff at the Porch appeared to be uninterested in resolving the problem, but instead, compounded it when we communicated the problem. Our server Emily was initially congenial and helpful. The problem arose when the dessert was not what she represented. We specifically asked if the pineapple upside down cake came with buttermilk ice cream (as advertised on the Porch's website.) The cake came with vanilla ice cream, not as promised. The cake was cold and dry, somewhat akin to a "Sara Lee" cake. When we raised the "not buttermilk ice cream" issue with Emily, she replied, "You're not happy with your dessert. I'll get the manager." After quite a wait, with us staring at the melting dessert, the manager appeared. We told him "this isn't buttermilk ice cream, as Emily promised." He replied, "We didn't have it today." He promised to bring other desserts, incredibly, without asking us what would make it right. Staff brought birthday cake ice cream and banana pudding. (He did "comp" our wine, which was $12.00) Unfortunately, this chaotic response ruined what otherwise was a very pleasant evening. We loved the Porch. It was one of our favorite restaurants. Unfortunately, we can no longer recommend it to our family or friends.

Went to The Porch for the pre-fix menu for Dine Downtown. The service was great and the food was yummy! Only complaint is the restaurant was a bit stuffy, but towards the end of the evening it cooled off inside.

A charming setting. Great location in Mid-town. Close to the Community Center. Outstanding food, very authentic southern eats.

Lunch for 3, no cocktails or drinks consisted of 1 appetizer, 3 entrees and 1 side - $87 before $23 tip. That says a lot about the service and food right there. Truly was a bit more than we would spend for a normal lunch however the old saying is true: you get what you pay for.
Fabulous Mac n cheese with brisket - added bacon on top however $2 for less than a tablespoon of bacon seemed a bit steep for the quanity.
The shrimp poor boys were on point. Enough shrimp to satisfy you, up-charge for the slaw IMO was not worth it. The fries were better. Although I will say it was a creative spicy slaw.
The burger was seasonal. I ordered it bc of a picture posted online. No where near the same or as appealing looking but truly was delicious! Worth every penny. Homemade ketchup was tasty but I'll stick to Heinz.
If you want comfort food, this place hits the spot. It will cost ya a bit more than most restaurants in the area but as stated, overall it was worth the price and the service was attentive and very accommodating. I apologize for not knowing her name, she was excellent.

We went for the Dine Downtown fixed price menu because it looked like one of the best. The server was a lot of fun while being very professional. The food was plentiful and tasty. it was pretty noisy but in a fun way.
