The Pony Room is a favorite among locals and resort guests alike. In addition to an extensive selection of all expressions of agave spirits, it is also home to one of Southern California's most impressive wine and hand-crafted, seasonally inspired signature cocktail lists. The Pony Room serves exceptional, American inspired comfort classics with daily specials.

    the drive up to the hotel/restaurant sets the expectations high, which it often fulfilled in the past. the menu has barely changed in the last 5 years. the closing of Veladora has not lowered prices, although much more casual now. in the lounge, the new lighting felt like I was in an operating room and it barely dimmed at sunset--thus my low rating for the ambience, which is unfortunate because it is a beautiful room. with the exception of the lamb, the food is pretty average, the cookie sundae can be recommended. the red wines by the glass are average and tend to be overly sweet, not for anyone well versed in wine. the service is exceptional, from the greeting by Alan out on the drive and the fantastic oversight of Harvey, waitstaff Scott, and our busser (I wish I knew his name).

    We had a bit of a mixed experience here. Valet staff is great and very welcoming. The food was excellent—especially the Dover sole, which was absolutely out of this world. Our server was fantastic: attentive, friendly, and clearly doing his best. That said, he was stretched way too thin, juggling too many tables across too many sections without any bussers or properly coordinated support staff to help him out. Everyone we interacted with was kind, but there was a noticeable lack of management or organization on the floor. Thankfully, the quality of the food helped salvage the night. One note of caution: skip the lobster tacos. Ours were loaded with shell bits, which really took away from the dish. And the fish tacos were good, but a bit too spicy. But again, salmon and dover sole were great! And the foccacia with ricotta and honey app was killer too. With better staffing and a little more oversight, this place could really shine.

    One of the few reliable restaurants in the area that is worth the splurge. It’s just very beautiful, service is always personal and excellent, and the food is very good. Make sure you order dessert!

    Coral did a great job. Scott is awesome. Food was excellent. One of our favorite spots for a date.

    I believe The Pony Room is one of the best restaurants in San Diego Co. They have a great menu, service and a great ambiance. If you have not been there, give it a try
