Great service and excellent food
This was my second time eating at the Pit. The first time was right after it was on Man vs Food. This was the same as the first. I ordered the brisket and it was not good at all. Way to much sauce and ruined the flavor of the meat. Our server was wonderful
It was good. The place looks lovely and the service was good but the food was just ok for the price. Seemed exprensive for BBQ but looked cool. Brisket was wonderful as was the sweet potato souffle, the baby back ribs were lack luster and the chicken was on par with Boston market with overcooked Mac and cheese and overly spiced baked beans.
Food was not hot and when it came back, it was way over cooked.
Sad, we used to love it there.
I need to go again because it was really sick. The waitress was also very nice
Great food, service, and outdoor seating for a great price.
Pulled pork was dry. Ribs were tasty but way overcooked. Fried Chicken was good but White Meat was dry. Best part of the meal were the biscuits. I would not rush to this restaurant - must be better BBQ in North Carolina.
Food and service was amazing!
The brisket was a little dry and my particular plate had a lot of fat. I’ve had much better cooked brisket there before.
Food is just okay. Ordered brisket
My family has been the the pit many times; however this time the food was warned over at best and quite disappointing. We spoke to the manager who gave us a discount although we did not ask for one. That wasn't the point. The point was just to bring it to his attention. Besides a 12.00 discount did not make it at all better.
Ribs and slaw were outstanding, but the baked beans were extra dry and some were not cooked fully.
Last two times I went there it wasn’t as good as it was in the past. Not sure I will go again.
Great Fried Chicken and Carolina Barbeque! Attentive and friendly service. Great spot!
We got there right on time for our reservation, table was clean and ready, seated promptly, wait staff was excellent, food came quickly, was very good, and was rewarded with free birthday cake. What’s not to love?
The Pit is always a favorite so make reservations because there is always a line! Staff warm and welcoming and helpful making recommendations if you can't decide on your own. Hushpuppies and collards are a must!
A favorite of mine in downtown Raleigh. They really do have the best servers & the food is delicious!!
The fried catfish was bland and didnt have any flavor. The fried chicken was very tasty as well as the meatloaf. Green beans are good and so are the sauteed vegetables. overall i would say pretty good food but dont order the catfish.
Delivered great food with great service! I would definitely go here again.
The atmosphere, service and food was great for lunch.
The food was fine but not great. The meat was greasy and fatty. The service was excellent but we had to ask to be moved a few times because it was cold
I went to PIt 7 years ago. I think the quality has decreased a bit since then. Food was fine, just not as amazing as I recalled
The ribs were very dry but the dessert and sides were wonderful. However my stomach was upset within an hour of eating as was other members of my party. Our server was great and brought out a new rack of ribs when I explained my were dry.
Food was cold (including apps and bread) and not very flavorful. Waitress was nice and attentive.
We had a great experience there many years ago, but the last 3 times we’ve been have been average, at best. I think we’re done “hoping” The Pit will return to its former glory.
The service was amazing! Our server was the best, the food, unfortunately didn’t match the service. It was bland and dry. Not at all pleased with our menu selection.
Green beans to much garlic. Brisket was tough and fatty. Banana pudding was excellent. Service was great.
We have eaten at The pit multiple times and this last visit was our first time at the Raleigh location. Once we got past the throng of unmasked college students out for a Saturday night party, we had a great time. The food was excellent and my waitress helped me through my ignorance of ordering the right type of ribs (Beef ribs vs pork ribs).
I made a reservation in advance, and my table was ready when I arrived. We ordered the seasonal cornbread and fried macaroni and cheese as appetizers, which were both delicious. Our meals came out very quickly, and the food was great. We all ended up bringing home leftovers.
Great bbq and great service. A really neat location and make sure to save room for dessert. The cakes are amazing.
Celebrating a big birthday and wanted a great experience. We will definitely recommend The Pitt to friends and family. The ribs were amazing!
Meal and service was great.
Can’t go wrong with the brisket! Service was great.
Our first time here, we were on a double date night with friends. Overall I was a little disappointed. I think the best part of our night were our delicious cocktails and the excellent service our waitress provided BUT the food was mediocre. $18 for brisket that looked like sliced roast beef, potato salad was bland and Mac and cheese was good. I think the best looking plate was a Salad someone else got at our table. Definitely not REAL BBQ! You want REAL BBQ go to Big Mike’s in Cary. Also leaving the door open on a 38° night is ridiculous, the whole place was freezing. It doesn’t help with germs if that’s what they are thinking, the heater is going on and off spreading everything around anyway.
We probably won’t be back or recommend this place.
The Pitt was good! We are already planning on coming back to try things we could not try this time.
Food was cold and it was freezing inside. We were the first people to come in and everyone got their food before us. The manager spoke to everyone but us. We have never had a bad experience at the one in Durham.
Great service, great food, making reservation really easy
Great service! Great food!! Took my family for an in and out day trip to the city and this was our first stop. We could not have started our day off better!!!
Great food as always
Carrot cake dessert was absolutely the best cake of any kind I have ever eaten and the best nonchocolate dessert I’ve ever had.
The pandemic is hurting them. No crowd. Reservation required. Food was ok. Not as hot as it should be. Keeping doors open for ventilation. Seating area was cold. They can and should do better for the customers they are getting. May change reccomendation in future. Just not a goid place to go now.
