We had reservations and arrived on time
We waited a few minutes while our table was cleared, which is understandable since they were busy. We were seated, waters and menus we're brought, then we were virtually forgotten. It took 45 minutes for the food to arrive and that was only after speaking with the manager. When it arrived, it was cold. Never going back. Totally bad experience.
Overall visit was average at best. Positives were the fried green tomatoes and fried chicken. Both outstanding. Pulled pork and brisket were flavorless and very fatty. The sides were all terrible! Fries and sweet potato fries were undercooked and cold and mac n cheese was one of the worst I've ever had. What made everything a little worse was the awful service we had. Inattentive and generally miserable waitress. Definitely would never return.
It was my birthday and the service and staff was amazing. I had a great time. Food was wonderful. Will definitely return!
We had a wonderful experience eating here for a friend's bachelorette party. The food was excellent, the servers were fantastic (Chris and Taylor rock!), and we couldn't believe how quickly we were served. Would definitely recommend and can't wait to eat here again!
I’ve been to The Pit a number of times. The meats are pretty good (love their biscuits, hush puppies, deviled eggs, and pimento cheese fritters). It’s great for group dinners and the service is always quick and attentive.
Sometimes you don't need fancy, you just need good food, in a good physical space. In this case its barbecue, and its worth it to go.
Wonderful as always! No complaints! Food was absolutely delicious, servers was very attentive and nice.
First time there and it was great... Food was great and the staff was very friendly...
Loved the food, was amazing and great for Valentine's Day :)
Everything was great.
The service was excellent! The food was amazing! I will definitely go back soon.
It was good as always!
Sharon was our waitress and her bubbly smile with her pink hair was so welcoming. It was our first time and she hit it out of the ball park with her recommendation of the cheese balls and dinner plates. She even surprised us with a banana pudding for dessert. It was a wonderful date night for my husband and I without our kids and she just made us feel really special as if we were her only table. And clearly we were not. We will go back again, and hopefully we will have her as our waitress!
We made this part of our road trip from Pittsburgh, PA to Chapel Hill. Will make the trip just for The Pit again! One of the best meals I've had! Amazing BBQ.. We tried a lot of it, brisket, smoked turkey, chopped bbq and the fried chicken, all amazing. We considered going again for lunch the next Day!
Service was exceptional! We had 3 servers who rotated and they gave us their Banana Cream Pie on the house for making the trip! Great southern hospitality!
I couldn't finish my plate because of the large portion size and was sad when I had no room to finish!
I love everything about The Pit from the food, service, cleanliness and all. I’ll recommend this place to anyone.
Great food in a great location. I have been raised in NC and this stuff is the real deal.
The service and ambiance were great. Food was pretty good. Only I complaint I have is that it obvious a lot their things are made in bulk and then you get a scoop of it. So my Mac and cheese and fries were pretty cold. The fried chicken and pulled pork were amazing though and I’d recommend it to a friend.
Great menu selection, excellent food and fast service!
The Pit is where I always take family and friends that come to visit. Tonight was the same quality service and food we have come to expect when we take out of town visitors out in Raleigh!
Food was good but nothing special.
Consistently one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had. Great food and fantastic waitstaff every time. Highly recommended.
I am never disappointed. I always bring in out of town guest and they always have a lot of fun.
Our favorite stop when in town - delicious!!
The biscuits, and corn bread were great and the ribs fell off the bone! The staff was friendly and attentive.
Service was a little off. They didn’t meet our request for a booth and then forgot to bring us biscuits and hush puppies until we asked at the end. Then got two of our orders wrong, with no change to the bill.
Food is amazing as always.
Food and served were just ok...I feel it’s overpriced...especially for the quality. They did not acknowledge the Birthday celebration requested with our reservation then told Open Table we were a no show reservation. Valet parking was unavailable...we were told the lot was full. Overall not an experience I would rave about. This is not my first time here but I won’t return unless someone else is insisting on going there...which happened this time. BTW...the Durham location is much better...both food and service. So if someone says go to The Pit I will suggest going to the Durham location.
My wife had BBQ and some of the it was good and others seemed to just be okay. I had fish and it was very good, but the of it seemed to just be okay.
It was great!
