Roast was tasteless. Used to be excellent- not sure if chef has changed over the last few months.

A last minute Sunday Roast decision/destination. Local to us and pretty standard cost. The dining room was busy. Staff were lovely. There was a family with a dog that barked - not the Maynard's issue, if I was a dog owner I'd have taken it out or not taken the dog at all - or better still, taken a seat in the outside seating area. By no means a big deal, I'm just not a dog person, and it did NOT ruin my experience at all. Thoughts - I can't remember if this was on the menu, but I would definitely suggest to waiting staff that they go more out of the box on offering sides - my wife was eyeing another table with much jealousy where one of the guests had 2 x yorkies , but we couldn't just ask other people in the restaurant to give up their yorkshire pudding!

My husband and I came here to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. 10 years ago we celebrated our wedding reception at this venue. Sadly we felt that our experience could’ve felt so much better. For a Friday evening, it was not heaving at 7.00pm yet the staff were busy at the bar and there seemed like one person serving at the restaurant and garden area. We spoke to someone at the bar to get seated and we were given a menu. Our drinks and orders were taken. Food was fine. We were not offered dessert as it seemed like the waiter just wanted to finish his shift and we were the last in the restaurant. He just gave us our bill which we didn’t ask for. The ladies toilet had no toilet roll and was not clean. A staff member came out of the cubicle and I mentioned there was no toilet roll and she just said “oh dear”. Instead we went somewhere else for dessert. Overall not the experience we wanted but you get what you’re given with the pub grub. A shame about the service.

Food was tasty, service was a little slow but we got there in the end. The garden would benefit from a clean, sweep, cushions need a wash and cobwebs brushed off. Simple things make a big difference. It’s lovely to have the garden and nice to sit outside, a little housekeeping would go a long way, otherwise a nice pub.

Nice lunch in the outdoor garden. Scotch egg, fish and chips, burger, chicken club sandwich were all spectacular
