I know the reviews on the Lively have been mixed lately; the purpose of this review is to review their wine dinner in case you see it in the future are considering it they do wine dinners every few months post it on social media (one of the hot new local restaurant trends are “upscale” wine diners frequently paired with Wallaa Wallaa wineries). So here’s my “lively” review haha Apparently last night I was part of a miniature reality TV show didn’t know that’s what I was signing up for tonight thought it was going to be an upscale 5 course wine dinner with Long Shadow winery. The first dish/course was a “grilled” watermelon & feta “salad”. The first dish had me scratching my head arrives in this small Petri dish. I am sitting there scratching my head wondering Amuse Bouche or a salad? Little lost on that one The watermelon was not “grilled” at all despite what the description said which happened a few times during this dinner actually haha. Next course for the wine dinner was the pork and goat cheese triangoli. The triangoli was not cooked fully; the filling (pork was very dry) the sauce was flavorful was just a dallop. I liked the addition of the pistachios added a nice crunch to the pasta. The radicchio was the star of this course. Overall the dryness of the pork and the undercooked pasta robbed the course of what it could have been in terms of execution/flavor. Next course on our “mini” food menu haha was the roasted quail. The mini quail despite its small quantity was very flavorful with hints of cinnamon; I literally had one fork of hominy just on my plate pretty ridiculous. Next up was the Beef Tenderloin. The Beef tenderloin was cold and needed salt; I literally had one potato and one carrot on my plate despite it being described in the “plural” in the course description. For being a fine dining spot lot of technical misses like undercooked pasta, salt, and small portion sizes particularly on an upscale/$150 wine dinner. Last dish of the night was

Drew, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. Honest feedback like yours is essential and helps us learn and improve. We care deeply about the quality of our food, service, and overall experience, especially during special events like our wine dinners. I'm sorry to hear that we missed the mark in several areas. It’s equally disappointing that no one checked in with your table during the evening to give you a chance to share your concerns in real time. I do appreciate the kind words you shared about your server and will make sure those are passed along. Be well, Myah Assistant General Manager

Flowing, gorgeous, elegant space, staffed by warm, kind, somewhat undertrained people dressed like they’re going grocery shopping on Saturday morning. Dinner was good not great, with the exception of the silken-textured potato bisque, savory Nonna’s meatballs, and heavenly fresh-baked dinner rolls.

I’ve had much experience with afternoon tea experiences. There was one one type of finger sandwich, cucumber. The bread was getting stale and it had little flavor. I typically really enjoy cucumber sandwiches. The dessert cakes were also a little stale and not at all moist, as the should be, if fresh. I felt as though every had been left out too long. The overall quality was not worth the $50 per person and I had hoped for better.

We had a wonderful anniversary dinner. Everything was perfect from the champagne on the house to the food to the great service. We always enjoy our experience at the Lively, it’s always exceptional. We had a lot of great food but our favorites are always the hamachi and steak tartar, so good!

The place and food were great, just two big things, founded a piece of a plate on my chicken, and then while they filled my water they spilled it all over and never came to clean after.

Overall, the restaurant was beautiful, but the food was very mid-range. Reminded me of going to an elevated version of The Henry, or Tommy Bahama.

Our group of four enjoyed the atmosphere, the ambiance and the attentive wait staff. The cocktails were innovative and scrumptious. We each ordered something different and shared our entrees. The food was very tasty. Our friends were celebrating their anniversary and it was a great experience for them.
