Very disappointing, very much off their game. Food a bit burnt and yet not very hot, waited a long time to be served: 19h45 booking no food until 20h30. My favourite shepherd's pie had virtually no potato and what was there was burnt. Not good at all sad to say.

When we walked in we were offered a table in the front. We asked if there was room in the back room which we prefer. The greeted said and I quote “ it is quite busy in there today”. I then said if it was only quite busy perhaps there was room. She went to look and said no. We sat where we were offered but checked the back room ourselves and there was plenty of room. While sitting there we did not see the room fill up at all

The only starter we ordered (sourdough bread) took 30 mins to arrive. My main was cold (fish & chips). I gave that feedback. The white wine was not cold enough. I didn't mention it. Overall service was extremely slow, which shouldn't have been the case as it was not busy on an early Sunday evening. It was also hard to get the attention of staff (like they weren't listening or couldn't hear any of us when we called out to them). For any restaurant, this would be a disappointing experience but for Ivy it's surprisingly poor.

Have eaten here before and had a very pleasant lunch, tried to come for late breakfast before heading to the cricket but unfortunately the place was a bit of a shambles, May have been changeover shift time or they’d just had a big group in that had just finished but we had to wait for our booked table, seemed under staffed and everyone was running round line headless chickens. Despite booking the earliest table I could get at 11.30 we were told there was no availability from the breakfast or brunch menu and we had to order from the lunch menu. All seemed so chaotic we weren’t convinced we would get served in time before we had to get to the cricket so decided to leave as the delays had already made us late.

It was just so slow We waited 40 min for food Then another 35 minutes for desert And they didn’t even offer a tea or coffee when we complained which is strange for such a brand

So disappointed with the service, the main course was so delayed. We were starving by the time it arrived. It took 20 minutes to order a bottle of water. I had to ask for ice 3 times as the water was at room temperature. Most of the staff were unfriendly and miserable. Such a disappointment as we were celebrating my daughter’s birthday and it ruined our evening. Not what you expect from The Ivy.

Really slow today waiters/waitress kept trying to take my wine glass away even though they had a bottle which I ordered that was left in the corner also had to keep asking for a top up.

We had a very bad experience a year or so ago at The Ivy, St. John's Wood, when we were entertaining guests. Everything about that evening was terrible....food, service and noise levels. We had to continuously complain and the Manager at the time accepted that everything that could go wrong went wrong !! We have eaten since at The Ivy Asia in Mayfair, The Ivy Brighton (twice) and The Ivy St. Albans. Each time we have had a great evening. So last night we thought that we would try St. John's Wood again. It was a lovely evening and we sat outside. The waiter was very hesitant in answering any of our questions and was very unprofessional. We found out later that it was his first day. We ordered drinks at 6.15pm and they arrived at 6.45pm. We ordered bread and zucchini "for the table" and this took a further 15 mins. My wife has an allergy regarding black pepper and the waiter said he would ask the chef whether the soup had any black pepper. He took the rest of our order but never came back to us with an answer as to the black pepper problem. My starter salad arrived at 7.15 (one hour after sitting down). My wife having not been advised about the black pepper issue decide in frustration not to have a starter. We did complain to the lady manageress and from then on everything speeded up. However as the kitchen were probably ordered to hurry up the rice and the green beans were not cooked and came cold. The mashed potatoes were only warm but we stayed with it. It is unfortunate but the evening was spoiled. Would I recommend the restaurant to a friend ? Probably not.

As 2 elderly ladies staff were excellent and prepared to help with seating.Food was excellent and service good even though very busy.One problem is the toilet is downstairs and for people with mobility issues it is impossible to access.A member of staff took me across the road to another restaurant in order to use their toilet which is not really suitable but acceptable.

We love this restaurent . Staff and the manager excellent . Such a pity the scallops and pea in shell withdrawnfrom menu .... why? Also , disappointing that our favourite the French apple Tart also gone missing .... again Why ? Nevertheless the crispy duck salad and the black cod lovely .... shepards pie ok but not great .... We ate outside , great ambiance

The worst Ivy restaurant I have ever been to . Food was terrible crispy duck salad was shocking nothing crispy about it . Rib eye steak terrible not sure it was Rib eye . Ordered Zucchini but never received. Thick cut chips terrible. Presentation on tomato salad very bad
