The Ivy Cafe Richmond
Beautifully located near the river Thames and a few moments from Richmond Park, the restaurant features a private dining room and a bar, offering relaxed yet sophisticated dining.
Need to book at 6:30 AM?Other great restaurants with availability.
Service was good in all ways and the food was good but one main course took a long time to turn up and was cold - had clearly been forgotten which was disappointing. I would have sent it back had we not been entertaining guests
Great venue near to the Richmond train station, with a great menu selection. Perfect for a nice catch up with friends. Would suggest not ordering the eggs royale and chips as the Hollandaise sauce has no taste to it and the salmon was a little off. The beef tartare was very good and worth a try!
The daytime front of house are never helpful.
Really great atmosphere and great service and food. Would absolutely recommend
You always know what you are getting. Good grub, good service, relaxed atmosphere.
Good service - improved. Food good.
Food was excellent, the restaurant itself is very nicely decorated. The whole experience felt quite special.
Went for afternoon tea which was lovely, really tasty. The service and staff were great. Will definitely go back.
Beautiful food as always and lovely dining setting
Went for brunch with three of my friends. Me and two others order poached eggs and avo, eggs turned up freezing cold. We sent them back and they came out with new dishes hotter but still not as hot as we would have liked. We still ate then as didn’t want to make a big fuss. They only charged us then for food and took of our drinks which was nice.
Another poor visit this weekend. What has happened to the normally excellent Ivy Richmond? Kitchen performance terrible - very slow and three attempts to bring some toast and poached eggs !
Such a beautiful setting for breakfast. My friends food came out very cold however the waitress was great, she took it back, had a fresh order out quickly and refilled her coffee whilst she waited, excellent and quick service. Food was average but that might just be their breakfast.
Service / front of the house needs improvement. Food lovely, shame we waited a bit to have our wine with it and then placed our of reach so we could not top ourselves out as when needed, as waiters seemed to look after too many tables.
No I would not recommend for dinner due to poor menu choice and value for money. Previously been for lunch which was much better.
I booked a reservation for 2 for Friday 7:15 in the beginning of the week at the Ivy in Richmond for my sisters birthday celebrations. I tried to amend the booking online and over the phone to change the booking from 2 people to 3. I could not get through to anyone on central reservations for 2/3 days.
So I thought we'll just turn up as 3 and let the restaurant know when we arrive.
Upon our arrival we were served by Jonathan who was the booking's manager. He was really unhelpful, rude, inconsiderate and did not want to help us at all, even though we came for a birthday. We tried and tried so many times and he was just not being assisting at all.
Eventually he called the general manager who came, introduced himself nicely and gave us a table instantly. No hesitations, no questions and sat us down straight away. He appologised for Jonathan's rude behavior and said "Jonathan likes to follow the rule book" which shows he does not care about customers and brand standards.
Jonathan was happy to see us walk out and leave and not have a chance to dine at The Ivy even if it was our sisters birthday which I find absolutely horrid and he has no empathy or people skills. He did not care he ruined someone's birthday.
The general manager on the other hand, dealt with us all night, gave us free drinks on the house and kept asking us if were okay.
His service made our night better!
Jonathan needs retraining.
It was a bit disappointing. very noisy and very expensive wine. £9.75 a glass - really? The food was good and interesting but not a very relaxed lunch. I would recommend only in the light of these comments.
Far and away the nicest of the Ivy cafes. Always has a lovely atmosphere.
Very disappointing breakfast. Old avocado and the eggs were not cooked well...
Lobster spaghetti was not worth 29£... ridiculous pricing. Additionally the tuna starter was tasteless. Finally the texture of the creme brûlée was not right.
We have been coming to the Ivy for some time and on this occasion it did not deliver. The lavender cocktail was sickly sweet. The carpaccio of tuna was minute as was the half chicken. As a family of four we all agreed this was a disappointing visit and we would give the Ivy a break for a while.
Book on open table even last minute because if you walk in without a reservation they say they have nothing available. I walked out, booked on open table and walked back in.
Service front desk therefore useless but the rest was great.
Excellent evening with some very nice touches. Found the live music a bit loud.
I went for the rib eye steak which I thought was overcooked for medium and would have been better if flame grilled plus the chips were dry. Dissappointed with the main but the rest of the food we had was beautiful in a wonderful setting.
Why can the real Ivy in West Street cook a beef burger medium rare and your chefs in Richmond can’t?
Wonderful food, and atmosphere and superb service. Definitely recommend and definitely going back
Service and food v.good. Only criticism is that one should get rolls/baguette with one's meal.
We had such a lovely time at the Ivy Cafe Richmond. The food was lovely as was the environment but by far the best part was the service. Our waiter was so attentive and helpful, making our young son especially welcome. We will definitely return!
Really lovely lunch as always at The Ivy Cafe in Richmond. Food is always of high quality. Love the decor in there too.
Lovely and relaxed, wasn't too noisy or too quiet. A comfortable talking level. A birthday breastfast to remember.
Restaurant was great! On s Sunday afternoon they either had high tea or a regular meal option. Busy location and very popular. A good find!
We had reserved a table for 6 of us for sunday lunch. Service extremely slow. Food below par and we had to wait 40 minutes for a coke for my son, after chasing it twice with the waiter. If you know the restaurant is going to be busy - staff up and sort it out. Not good enough to have to wait nearly an hour for the main course. Really disappointing food - prawn cocktail was tasteless and seemed to have come straight out of the fridge. Not up to standard.
Right from the beginning from the reception/matre de to our waiters...the service was fab....really enjoyed our experience....as well as nice touch at end for my partners bday!...
Unfortunately the food was served almost cold. The waitress was very kind and helpful. After few minutes we had an other Egg Benedict and an other Avocado Benedict but again cold.
Lovely food. Great ambience. Staff are well mannered and polite. Hostess at the front with dark hair could be a little more warm however
Service and food was exceptional x
This is our second visit and we love the place. There is a great ambience, a warm welcome and the food is excellent and really good value.
Overall very good but the service wasn't great that afternoon once we were sat at the table. We seemed to have been forgotten once the food arrived. We would have liked to have ordered more items as we usually do however service was so slow that we decided it wasn't worth waiting. Getting the bill also took a long time. However, after initially being almost turned away because their system hadn't registered our booking, we were at least glad we did get a table in the end, so all in all it was better than nothing.
We booked a table for a birthday celebration for 6. We had to wait for 20mins for our table to be ready. The service was poor- it was impossibly difficult to get anyone’s attention to take orders etc. The food wasn’t great- definitely not up to Ivy standards. All in all quite a disappointment.
Food was good!!
