About this restaurant

  • Great for brunch
  • Great for outdoor dining
  • Good for groups
Permanently Closed - The House of Peroni Residency opens its doors at PROUD EAST in Haggerston from 19th May to 1st July. The six-week residency is themed around Amare L"Italia ('For the Love of Italy’) and will offer guests a taste of Italian style to savour.
An Italian version of the British brunch will be served every Saturday and Sunday between 11am and 3pm.
Stand out dishes include Purgatorio (spicy baked eggs with nduja sausage), Gratin di Asparagi (gratin of asparagus with duck eggs and Grana Padano), Mac e Carbonara (carbonara mac and cheese), along with the show-stopping Un Colpo All'Italiana (the Italian Job), a delicious Italian take on the full English.
All dishes are perfectly accompanied by La Regina Mary (the Queen Mary) – a new savoury expression of the traditional Bloody Mary or a delicious Peroni Nastro Azzurro-infused citrus punch.
Guests can walk-in or make reservations for Italian Brunch.

The imaginative setting was well complimented by the great food and cocktails. The unusual setting created a great atmosphere and one off experience.

I went there over the bank holiday weekend and wasn't very impressed with food and service. Had 3 dishes between the 2 of us, cocktails, then coffee and dessert. It's a bit pricey for the level of cooking involved. Waiters were all very good looking but lacking menu knowledge. Also attended the Negroni masterclass which was nice since the sun came out and we were sitting by the canal. Overall it was a pleasant afternoon, but nothing memorable.

I have heard lots of reviews about previous House of Peroni instalments and as I had friends visiting I thought it would be a great brunch option. The service was non existent, the food though nice was very small and we had to buy bread to accompany the full English for an extra £4 - it doesn't sound like much but given that per person the breakfast came out about £18 it was not worth it. There isn't much to do by way of pottering about. We were in and out in about 40 minutes. Very disappointing.

Fun setting but quiet brunch - needs a bit more atmosphere. Good food, would like to come back in the evening to experience as a bar.

Booked for brunch at 2:30 for the two of us well in advance, excited to try the relatively short but extremely appetizing sounding menu at House of Peroni. We arrived bang on time and were duly seated within minutes of our reservation - all good so far. The waitress took 10minutes to attend to us to ask if we wanted drinks, we ordered immediately... these arrived a further 10minutes later, with nobody seemingly willing to take our food order. When the same waitress eventually took our order, she informed us that she didn't think 2/5 of the options for brunch were available but she would check. She promptly disappeared (although, in plain sight, chatting to the barman) for 15minutes, by which point one of her colleagues came by the table to inform us that the entire brunch menu was no longer available. Finally, our original waitress came back to the table - once we'd informed her colleague that there was absolutely no way that having turned up for our allotted 2:30 reservation we were going to accept the kitchen were no longer serving brunch only to tell us that one dish remained. Totally and utterly ridiculous, with contemptuous staff and a total mess all things considered. As was made abundantly clear to the front of house, if you're not professional enough to order enough ingredients to actually offer your menu for the alotted time-slots for brunch/lunch/dinner, you should find yourself another pursuit. 0/10
