My cousins from California were out visiting and I had to bring them here. The food was on point and the gentleman playing guitar was an added bonus to the evening.
Birthday celebration. Great service!
We decided to give The Great British Food Company a try. I was so excited to be able to get a reservation on a Saturday night! When we arrive we were a little surprised to find it was not a fancier place. It was pretty "fast food" looking inside. None the less, the staff was super nice and very attentive but we did find it odd that there were only a few other folks in there. We ordered an appetizer and drinks but the first 2 beers my husband requested were out of stock. We understand there are supply issues right now so that was fine. The appetizer (fish nuggets) were good but nothing remarkable. Dinner arrived in a timely fashion. It was by far the worst food I have ever eaten. Really. This is the first time I have ever had British food, maybe its the cooking style. I feel like my hamburger was boiled or maybe steamed. It was odd,- ok awful is a better description. It was mushy, and wet, (not juicy) just wet. The only flavor in the meat besides a very unusual and off putting after taste was the Worcestershire sauce they used. I think the cheese melted away in the water or steam they boiled it in. It was horrible. My husband ordered a Cottage Pie. It was almost all mashed potato's and a very small dish. Again, no flavor at all. We noticed, now an hour later, 6:30 on a Saturday night that the place was still empty, hardly any customers at all. While the wait staff was great, and prices good, the food in our opinion was really terrible. Again, perhaps we don't understand British cooking. I wish them the best of luck but it was not for us, we will not return.
We do like this place, however, this was our 2nd visit and the fish and chips weren’t like they normally are. The fish was done on the outside, but mushy inside. Coleslaw needs some seasoning too. The appetizers were outstanding, and the cottage pie was amazing!!
We used to live in London. It’s like going home for traditional fish and chips! Yum!
Very nice atmosphere and choices of Brit food. Lots of space at bar and restaurant, plus pool table. Many, many TVs with various stations. World wide Soccer a major offering.
The food here is delicious! Our waiter was very helpful and friendly, and the atmosphere was great for kicking back with my friends for an evening. We'll definitely be back!
Great food and service! Our party had fish and chips, black and blue burgers, fried cheese curds to name a few. The cheese curds that were fried came with a curry sauce that I thought was surprisingly delicious, especially not being served in an Indian restaurant. Our waiter was so fun and engaging and made our celebratory evening even better!
Always great food and service. Check it out.
I grew up in England. If you’re looking for authentic British food, this really isn’t it. Everything was OK, not great. Food was American version of English food. While they were definitely trying, the subtleties just weren’t there. It seems like they’re really struggling with the staff as most places are. One lady kept coming by the table and trying to collect plates when we were actively eating. Probably did it four different times.
The look and feel of the restaurant is more like a sports bar. Excessive amount of TVs all over the place and the decor was not authentic at all.
I wish I could give a stellar review for this place. Unfortunately, it just doesn’t deserve it.
Fish & Chips and Cottage Pie are very good!
The Very Berry Mule is good but would be better if served in the traditional Mule Cup instead of a glass cup.
Every time we go there it gets better. The cottage pie (Shepard’s pie) reminds me of my English step mother’s.
The food was very good and so were the beverages. The server was excellent. We had the Welsh rarebit, Scotch eggs, liver and onions, cottage pie, chocolate cake and trifle. They have British beers and Pimms.
We've wanted to try this place for a long time and finally had the opportunity to sit on the nice patio for lunch and a beer. They don't have many options for food, but we decided to go with a few apps and a salad- cheesy cauliflower and poutine with the beet salad. Cheesy cauliflower was the best by far with fresh cauliflower not over or under-cooked and the sauce not too cheesy. Poutine was good as well, although the chips (fries in the US) were a tad bit soft. I wouldn't order the salad again because I'm not fond of iceberg lettuce and there was only a small piece of beet on top. But, the lettuce was crisp and chilled, so if you are fond of iceberg, you might enjoy it. Overall, this is a great place to chill on the patio with a beer and friends, so I'd recommend it.
We have been here several times but the last few times we were here there was always some sort of staffing issue. On one occasion, we were there for breakfast with friends and the waitress came over to apologize for the wait for our food but one of the cooks had just walked out. Other times we've been there and it's just been very under staffed.
We were there yesterday, for the Euro 2020 game. We had reservations, so no issues with being seated, but the place was jam packed and we waited well over 30 minutes for someone to come to our table then another 60 minutes to get our drinks. The waitress did tell us that the bar was completely overwhelmed and it might be a few minutes.... Our food came out slightly before our drinks. Luckily the food was hot and the food they serve is very good. I felt terrible for our waitress as she had to keep fielding the "where are our drinks?" question from everyone. When she came over to check on us, we inquired about ordering a second drink but we asked about the wait and her exact words were "The bartender has tickets lined from one end of the bar to the other and I just had a server walk out on me."
You had to make reservations for yesterday, so there should have been no surprise as to how many people were expected and there were even extra folding tables set up, so the plan for a huge crowd was there, just not with the staff. From what I could see there was only 1 bartender and there were only two waitresses working the outdoor area, which is where we were seated. Perhaps there was no extra staff to schedule for the day and if that was the case then perhaps the menu (both food and drinks) could have been reduced?
We do love the food and our service has always been great! I can not blame them at all for the other issues happening during their shifts.
I'm sure we will be back when we are craving a really good Full English, but it may be a while....
This place is a real touch of the UK. It was especially so yesterday for the Euro 2020 (in 2021) semifinal match between England and Denmark. Loads of loyal football (soccer) fans eating fish & chips, cottage pie, Scotch eggs and the like, and downing pints of Bass, Boddington's and Guinness. Tons of TVs. Loads of fun, everyone energetic but very well-behaved. Safe place to bring your family. Great staff. Steve the owner has a real winner on his hands. You just have to find it! Well worth the trip. I'm sure the place will be terrific for Premier League matches or NFL Sundays.
We made breakfast reservations through open table. We arrived at the venue at 9:45 AM and there were only two other cars in the parking lot. Entering the restaurant, there were two men sitting at the bar and no other patrons. A server came over offering us to sit wherever we wanted, without ever asking if we had had made a reservation.
We ordered a Mamosa‘s to start asking for a moment to review the menu before placing our order. At 10 AM we received our Mamosa.
We watched the server on his phone for minutes before he retrieved a champagne bottle, try to open it, take it to the kitchen and then we heard the familiar pop of a champagne bottle opening.
It was served to us in a highball glass with a wedge of lemon. Not at all what we were expecting.
At 10:10 the server returned asking if we were ready to order, but at this time we no longer had the luxuryOf waiting for them to prepare a breakfast.
I would like to try their food because I do love a good Scott drag but their service was absolutely terrible. There was no reason for us to have to wait So long for a simple beverage.
Great food and great place to watch the England game!
This is our third time there... each experience is great.. food is top shelf, service is great.. they actually act like they are happy you are there...
The food is just unique and true to English flare. The dessert amazing! We love the feel inside just so relaxing and upper class while enjoying the bar vibe if you want. Friendly fun staff!
Great food, great service; highly recommended and will definitely go back
My friends and I had wonderful time playing trivia and enjoying the night out! Definitely recommend this place.
Food was good, nothing to write home about, but good sized portions and good flavor. I thought the biggest issue was that the prices were higher than the food quality deserved.
My wife and I returned after living in the UK for some time. We were 'chuffed' (that's a very positive word for 'excited' and 'pleased') to find a British restaurant in town, and we decided to check it out.
We were highly pleased in every respect. The menu was authentically representative of options we would expect to find in the UK. The 'football' (i.e. soccer) on the 'telly', the pub-like atmosphere minus the noise and tight spaces, Union Jacks on display and other paraphernalia made us feel right at 'home'.
The quality of the food was very good, and the price was right for the portions received. We also enjoyed a glass of wine at half-price due to the deal offered on Wednesdays: this was very nice, since we had just missed happy hour.
Our server was courteous, attentive, and quick to answer questions and be helpful ... without being overly attentive or interrupting our private conversations or some of the things over-zealous servers sometimes do. I unfortunately do not recall her name, but she struck all the right notes with us. We'll try to get her name next time and ask for her specifically on subsequent visits ... and we certainly do plan to return as well as highly recommend the restaurant to family and friends.
Enjoy our repeat visits to this British pub. Engaging owner, good service, friendly staff, legit British food menu, lots of fun events and sports coverage.
Best scotch eggs ever! Good selection of gins and beers. Fun night.
Great food, beverages and service.
This was my first time here and it was so amazing. I plan on coming back often! The food was delicious and the staff was awesome.
Service was good, food was good, noise level was too Loud! Luckily it was a beautiful evening and we asked to be seated on the patio.
1st time there and will return to watch a couple of England games during the Euro's
Hamburger was requested to be cooked at most medium with a pink center. It was well done with no pink. The chips on the other hand were raw in the center.
Our group order the fish and chips and the Paddy melt. Everyone enjoyed their meal and the service was friendly.
Have recommended to several people already. Great fish and chips, fast service etc. we'll be back.
Bangers and Mash were fantastic! Smithwichs on tap.
Our first experience here was wonderful, with excellent food, pleasant volume and chatty, attentive staff. We were disappointed the second time though. The music was so loud we almost turned around when we walked in, but didn’t want to low off our reservation. My the time our food arrived, my ears were in pain, not to mention the opportunity for conversation non-existent. Other diners had to be reseated for the same reason. Our food was good, but not as good as the first time around, particularly the Poutine, which was dressed in freezer-burnt cheese curds. I’ll give it a third chance but recommend you avoid if they’re playing live music.
We do a once a month night out as a family and always enjoy GBFC. Food is clean and unfussy, service was quick and attentive, best poured pint of Guinness in town.
Kitchen was a disaster- After an hour waiting on our food they told us most of what we ordered couldn’t be made. Paid for our apps and left.
We really enjoyed our Sunday Easter dinner here. It was a nice, casual ambience with really great views. A good selection of alcohol, food was good (albeit I hope the lamb will be a bit more tender next time,) and the people were welcoming. We will be looking forward to making this a regular hangout.
As per our previous experiences at The Great British Food Company, we had a lovely evening. Food and Fullers ESB , on draught, all lovely. Alyssa, our server was so delightful. Thanks you, Steve and your crew, for everything!
My wife and I left without eating. We wanted to try Fish and Chips. They ran out at 6:30 on a Saturday. The waitress told us to try "Chippys" and gave us the wrong directions. That's the last we saw of her. Figuring in time and gas, it was a waste. I realize mistakes happen but then again there are about 12-15 entrees on the menu!
