William Bent's Grilled Quail
Quail roamed the prairies in the 1840's and was a favorite food of American Indians and fur trappers! Two teriyaki marinated quail served with wild Montana huckleberry preserves, seasonal vegetables, and Fort potatoes
It was very crowded. No masks. We had requested a quiet table and had to be moved twic. Not the usual experience that we have come to enjoy
We've been going to The Fort for over 45 years and this special evening's dining experience was the most lacking in all our times there. Krissy (sp?), our table attendent was forgetful and inattentive. A wine order was never served. A nonserrated knife was served with a steak and after dinner coffee or beverage was not offered.
Food and service were amazing. It was just really loud.
This local gem is a destination spot, and the ambience is unmatched! However, The Fort is resting on its laurels a bit, and needs to step up its game to match its reputation. While the huckleberry roasted Elk was first class, the ladies room was in disrepair, the margarita was weak, and the flute player lingered a little too long.
Staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. Their food was phenomenal and there are beautiful views. We even watched a helicopter take off after dinner.
Excellent food and service. It was our 49th anniversary and we believe we’ve come to The Fort for about 40 of those! It’s our tradition. A few of those years we were a bit disappointed but not last night. Thank you❣️
There should be no Chlorine in the water. It wrecks the taste buds. Crème Brûlée was not made with vanilla husks (= no blacks seeds). Otherwise excellent. I am going to the Fort 20+ years.
Wife’s birthday, pleasant dining experience
The food was great and the service was great. The table we had was awful. Right next to the server area where used plates were taken and food scrapped off. Also where food was taken before being delivered to tables. That table needs to be removed!
Perfect from start to finish! We loved our server Kevin. A great team building and birthday dinner!! So peaceful
I took my fiancé here for his birthday and it was such a wonderful dinner!! We both love western history and are big fans of southwest decor which made it all the better. Also the views are amazing!!
Family of 9. Serving sizes are very generous -pace yourself!
A special place to create special memories! The Fort has never disappointed.
I had never been to The Fort and was interested to see which side of the reviews I was going to come down on. I'm happy to say that we had a wonderful meal. My husband had the rib special and they were nice and tender and really good. I had the tenderloin, it was tender and nicely seasoned. We will definitely go back.
Celebrated a special event. The best restaurant for special occasions. Always a favorite.
We love the food and the place, everyone is so nice and great views
It was great. Perfect for special night out. Pricey but lots of food Only thing I’d change is the vegetable options. Peas and carrots are not for everyone.
What a fun, different kind of dining experience! We had a great time- staff were great, food was fantastic and plentiful, kids meals were great- all around an excellent experience!
Setting and ambience can't be beat, but was very disappointed in the quality of the game meat (elk and bison). Both steaks were rather tough and not what was expected for such expensive meat. The appetizers were great, drinks OK, but game meat not worth the price.
Great good and excellent wines. Dining room is really loud when full and the acoustics aren't so great for mitigating that, but otherwise it was a wonderful dinner out.
great food, great service and a fantastic setting
The noise level was difficult to hear those talking at our table. The service was good, but slow to respond.
We had a party of 4 and overall everyone rated the food as good. My buffalo and Elk were cooked perfectly. I have visited "The Fort" many times over the last 35 years and I could tell it was very short staffed. The only real complaint anyone had was the "Rocky Mountain
Oysters" served on our appetizer plate were burnt to a crisp. How those made it out of the kitchen is very puzzling.
Excellent meal and wonderful caring and personable service. It was totally delicious! Our party of eight really enjoyed the historical presentations by extremely knowledgeable and entertaining staff members. Eric Many Winds Herrera was so mesmerizing and inspirational with his Native American (Black Feet Nation) presentation that covered his culture, religion, and family life. His talent on his native flute was sublime.
Kevin was an outstanding waiter ! Such a wonderful meal in a beautiful setting
The Fort has been a favorite place for our family to dine. The food is always excellent and the ambiance is wonderful. Saturday was our first visit since pre=Covid, and I might say, The Fort has survived. I am not familiar with the numbers of wait staff, however, it seemed The Fort was not quite back to 100%. We understand the difficulties ramping back up to normal, therefore, we will ignore some slight improrities. We have no issues at all to communicate. All was well worth visiting The Fort! Thank you for an excellent time.
Great food and atmosphere. Doug provided us with outstanding service. Will return if ever back in Denver area.
Excellent service and food. Really enjoyed the evening.
They didn’t have quail or at least enough of it to have it on its own you had to have it on the game plate. And the steak that most of us ordered were over cooked. The macaroni and cheese was excellent
Great food and service. I made reservations several days before taking two out of town guests there for dinner. I requested a table by the windows so my guests could enjoy the view. However, when we arrived, we were seated at a table in the interior part of the dining room. I was told that the window tables were reserved, but they were still empty when we left after finishing dinner.
We always enjoy dinner at the Fort. The food and the atmosphere are great.
Service is good and the atmosphere is unique. The food was however bland, tough, and charcoal crusted from to high a flame on all the meats. I was really looking forward to trying this place for the first time and brought guests from out of state here, but our experience was disappointing.
Food was great. also had the character of the old west come by the table and share some great stories about the G8 summit, the origin of Mac and cheese in the us (try theirs it is great!), and other fun facts.
We've never been disappointed when we visit the fort. Our servers were delightful, the food was fantastic, and the ambience was terrific. So glad to see the Fort back in stride after this ridiculous past year.
We had a wonderful experience at The Fort! The food, view, and service was exceptional! The Fort represents what all restaurants should strive to be!
Excellent service and quality of food preparation. Appreciated the birthday dessert.
Very busy, theyve added many tables. A maze to get to oyrs. Very loud. Not the nice quiet quaint place its been in the past
Had family in town and lived in Colorado for most of my life and never been to the Fort. The staff was awesome and the service was 1st class! In addition, the food was delicious and drinks were tasty. Overall, a great experience for our 1st visit and we’ll be returning in the near future!
We had a window seat and the view was spectacular. The guy play the flute was amazing. The food was scrumptious.
