It was my husbands birthday and we had a great time. Food was delicious as always and our server Brian was fantastic! Can’t wait to go back.
We had an excellent dinner (buffalo prime rib). Cooked perfectly. Service was friendly and prompt. We went on Sunday night (not overly noisy) so it made for an enjoyable evening to visit with friends and enjoy a relaxing dinner.
Consistently very good and impressive. If you are after authentic game menus that have several choices of well prepared foods, this is a great place. They do provide what appear to be great alternatives for those that that don't want to pursue the beef and wild game focused selections. I think that I've had most of the meaty variety options, however. Elk, buffalo, beef, lamb, quail etc. The buffalo prime rib last Sunday was extraordinary. Nothing has disappointed so far and I've been coming here for many years. Ambiance is not necessarily what you would expect from a place called the Fort. It's quiet with wonderful views and fine dining service. We'll be back again.......and again.
I was on time for reservation but still over an hour wait for a decent table. Food was incredibly overpriced. Very small portion vegetables we're like they had been left in the refrigerator for a week. Should have gone for fast food to celebrate her birthday it would have been better
I so want to be able to give a five star review, but I just can’t. All but one in our party of four was disappointed in the flavor of our food. I felt the price paid was too much for the quality of food and the ambiance didn’t make up for it. I enjoyed the flute player and trapper educating guests on the history of the fort. Our favorite part was the dessert!
The Fort was a wonderful dining experience for my wife and me on the occasion of her birthday. Ruth and her assistant server were wonderful!
Really interesting restaurant with excellent tasting food. Really glad to experience The Fort. Will totally recommend to friends.
Delicious buffalo prime rib
Excellent fillet mignon... a little pricey though. Grateful for acknowledging my husband's birthday. We intentionally chose The Fort for the celebration with friends.
food was ok service was very good, food has not changed in years
The waiter was extremely accommodating and checked on us constantly, but not too much. The food was amazing, especially the bison tongue
Wanted elk. Last night in CO before going back to FL.
Another great experience at the Fort!
Outstanding bison filet that I would highly recommend. The lobster tail was undercooked but I didn't go to The Fort for seafood. Very knowledgeable staff and very attentive. The strolling Native American flutist was a very nice touch. A little disappointed that they didn't fire the canon due to the weather which doesn't stop me from firing artillery shells on New Year's Eve.
I will be back to try the Game Sampler Plate as I think this is more indicative of what The Fort is all about. Once again the Bison Filet was outstanding and cooked to perfection.
The service is excellent. The Fort is right next to Red Rocks and only open for dinner.
Really impressed with their diverse menu. This included vegan and vegetarian options. They have something for everyone. Such a fun and very denver experience!!
Great meal in a charming historic setting. Interior is a little dated, but appropriate.
Great Family get together!
We have been dining at the fort for decades. However, tonight (Saturday) it took an hour and a half from the time we were seated to get our entrees. We had a two-year old in our group who didn’t get cranky, but I remember the service being quicker in past visits. The food was great as usual.
A must for every one of our visits to Denver. Food and atmosphere is outstanding. Go on Friday or Saturday to hear Native American Eric “Many Winds” Herrera play tableside
The food is way overpriced for this market. It was cold out and someone kept opening a door into the dining room which allowed freezing air- and cigarette smoke to envelope our table frequently. We thought we would experience the Fort with historic ambiance and figures. The costumed figure never even stopped to say hello to our table. The food was nothing special- could have had the steaks at Outback or Ted Turner's. For $800 for 5 of us- we could have had an amazing meal in Denver instead of the Fort.
I would not discourage you from dinner at The Fort - it is a landmark restaurant in the Denver area, but..........it is overpriced. The stuffed peppers on the vegetarian menu are $30 (seriously?). Meals are served with bread and a salad, but the salad is very small. The other issue I have with the restaurant is the lack of comfort you will experience with the chairs. They are all wood with no cushioned seat or back. They do match the restaurant decor, but very uncomfortable.
Always enjoy a special occasion at the Fort. Only complaint is making a reservation for 5:00 pm when they don't open the doors until 5:00 pm. It was a very cold December evening and the parking lot looked like a drive-in movie theater with everyone sitting in their cars with their motors running to stay warm.
Maintains many of the dishes and traditions of the founder, Sam Arnold. The smellof the open fire when you enter the courtyard sets the scene for an exciting old western evening.
The food, the service and the atmosphere were all so nice and cozy. The portions are huge! The meat was cooked perfectly. I will have to go back in the summer to check out more of the outdoor information because it was pretty chilly on the night we went.
Christmas family Vacation, everything and food amazing Delicious
We understand you can't control the weather outside, but the inside temperature near the bar was unacceptable/cold. We were seated at a table right next to the bar, people constantly passing by therefore, unable to truly appreciate The Fort feeling. The silverware (forks), three short prongs, were cheap and didn't add to the experience. The knives were fine. The chairs were very hard, no padding, very uncomfortable especially for an older person. We felt hurried by our waiter even though we were seated 15 minutes prior to our reservation. The whole meal was rushed, almost encouraged to keep on a schedule. We were cold and rushed and therefore didn't purchase additional drinks or dessert. The only touring we felt comfortable and able to do without disturbing customers was in the empty dining room.
The Fort is one of those singular places that everyone who passes through Denver should try. The location, ambiance, food and service are all very special. This was our third trip (we live back east) and it's a good as ever.
Overall a very lovely time. We had a larger group of 8, including a toddler. I admit I was a little disappointed they didn't have our high chair ready despite two reminders over the phone. Other than that, the service was top notch. I'd say most of us liked our entrees. Quail, bison filet, and other beef and bison cuts. However we were surprised that the bison wasn't seasoned all that well, both the fillets and prime rib. The quail was the surprise favorite. The elk was not. We loved the drinks, but not the rocky mountain oysters, though that could just have been personal preference on the preparation. The kids mac and cheese was outstanding. Our server was great, very attentive and thoughtful. We'll probably be back for our next family outing.
Great service, food was good. Walleye was not as spicy as described. Would recommend the bison steak.
The food wasn’t worth the price. Buffalo prime rib was grisly. I specified it was a bday celebration and they didn’t recognize it. Once is enough at this place.
Another wonderful dinner at the Fort
We had an absolutely wonderful experience and our server was amazing!
Stevie and Stormy were excellent servers. We had a perfect dinner! The food was delicious and prepared to order. We will be back!
We would have liked to have been seated in the main part of the restaurant. Next time we will ask for that when making reservations.
We have dinner at the Fort every year at holiday time and it is always a treat. The food is perfect, the service is extraordinary and the ambiance is unforgettable. A bit expensive, but worth every penny.
Great place to bring people from out of town. I only order steak as other items have been disappointing, but the steaks are always awesome. Christmas Carolers were a delightful surprise.
This was one of the best meals I had in 2018. The boyfriend and I both agreed the bison tenderloin in herb butter was absolutely outstanding. Service and ambiance were also terrific.
My wife and I celebrated her birthday here. Food and service were very good as usual. This is a Denver area gem, it has never disappointed us.
Only previous visit to the Fort was for a company Christmas party. We had a banquet room to ourselves so it was nice, elegant and felt special not being with the "general population" This visit was during a weeknight and the table next to us had some younger females who were fairly loud and typically using their cell phones during the meal, including one egregious use of the phone's selfie cam to pick her teeth. I understand that the restaurant doesn't get to determine what customers patronize the restaurant but I guess I just figured based on it's reputation that people like this group weren't part of the demographic. Furthermore, there were two birthday celebrations where they brought out a buffalo head hat or something like that for the birthday recipient to wear and they did a little song and shouting of "huzzah!" a few times. They do this at Texas Roadhouse (which has fine steaks BTW) but I wasn't expecting this at the Fort. Aside from these small issues, the food was exceptional, well-prepared and authentic to the western cuisine theme. The staff was friendly and professional.
