A favorite Southwest Virginia landmark, The Farmhouse Restaurant has served the New River Valley since 1963. The authentic farm house, originally part of the Ridinger Estate, was build in the 1800's.

In the early 1970's, an old train caboose was added to provide a unique dining area. During the past decade, a rustic lounge, additional dinner seats, and a spacious 250-seat Banquet Facility have added to the charm of The Farmhouse.

Venerable restaurant for the Blacksburg area. The dining area is divided into “roads” with seating fairly isolated from other diners. Our server was super nice and attentive and our dinners were very good.

I was so disappointed. First our booth was very tight and uncomfortable. The music was too loud. Our server was good but could of been more attentive. I was looking forward to the fresh Rainbow trout. When it arrived it was overcooked dry and very salty. It tasted like salmon and looked like a salmon fillet. My guest got the surf and turf very small steak for the price they charged. Even my Cesear salad was made with too much dressing and the lettuce was wilted. I suspect it had been sitting in a refrigerator for a while. I had expected a great meal and dining experience for the price they charge. Didn’t happen.

A must go to whenever we pass through Christiansburg. This was out fourth time. Never disappoints. Food was excellent and our server, Erica, was very attentive and friendly.

Very disappointed as they ran out of food. Granted it was a busy weekend, but we had reservations for months. We were celebrating graduation, Mother’s Day and a birthday. Just because it was a busy weekend shouldn’t be an excuse for the restaurant to not be prepared. They ran out of vegetables, crab cakes, French onion soup, and ont of the salads. For a $500 meal this is unacceptable. We had potatoes that didn’t get cooked. Overall not up to expectations as we have been before.

The food was delicious once we finally got it. The salads came after we finished the meal. My daughter got her meal about 15 minutes after everyone else got their meal. The waitress was great and apologized several times. It would be an excellent place if the cooks could get the food done and out correctly and on time.

What made our dinner enjoyable was the service by our waitress. I wish you could check ad she was definitely a 5 star waitress. She check on my daughter's drink she ordered and her trip to check how our meal was, she noticed my daughter was not drinking what she ordered. My daughter really enjoyed my wife's drink. The waitress insisted she would replace my daughter's drink with the drink my wife ordered. Our waitress is the reason we will have repeated meals at the Farmhouse.

It was our first time going and it was for graduation, when I called to add 2 more people to our table they said the table was a 4 top only and we couldn't add anyone else to it, which was not true, not sure why they didn't accept. The restaurant was not crowded even though they said they were completely booked, food was good but we were told to not order our prime rib medium which would be pretty bloody and so we took the waitress recommendation and ordered it medium/well which was wrong it was brought to us well done with no red at all. mashed potatoes were ok, the creme brûlée we ordered was runny. so a bit disappointed with the restaurant

We went for my daughters graduation celebration. It was a set menu so the selection was less, which is not a problem. Unfortunately three out of 5 dishes were undercooked. They must’ve been rushing orders out in the kitchen. My daughter barely touched her salmon. Overall the experience was good enough.

The Farmhouse went above and beyond to make our celebration of our recent graduate the most memorable occasion we’ve had in a long time. Matt, our server is beyond outstanding!! There isn’t a rating high enough to express how wonderfully attentive, gracious, fun and all around phenomenal he is as a human!! This guy rocks!! The food rocks!! And the ambiance rocks!!! At lunch during graduation, our only food options were a few high-priced dinner items and not other sandwhich items listed on the courtyard menu online (we ate outside). This was not what we wanted for lunch or expected. We heard other families comment the same.

Had reservations for graduation dinner and it was definitely the best experience I’ve had at Farmhouse thus far out of the probably six times I’ve been. We did have to wait 15 minutes at our table before a waitress came by, but I understand they’re especially busy with extra guests due to graduation. The food came out at the perfect timing and each item was hot and fresh. Overall, it was a very wonderful meal but they definitely make you pay for it in price.

Steak is their claim to fame, and you won't be disappointed. We had a party of 9, and everyone was extremely pleased with their food. Two of us had steak, and it was phenomonal. Service was great, and there is a casual "broken in pair of pants" feel to the place.

Excellent location for any meal - the exceptional locale where a family in jeans can sit next to a prom couple all dressed up, and it’s fine for everyone. The individual walled booths are perfect for enjoying conversations at normal talking levels. Food is exceptional. Have loved everything I’ve had here.

Been going to the Farmhouse since it opened - way back in the mid 60's Dinner Thursdsy was as good as it was back then. We sat in a booth and pretended we were on a date in 1967. Had a great time. The steaks were excellent. Lonnie Brooks VT Class of 67
