Proudly holding two AA Rosettes, The English Grill stands as a beacon of culinary excellence, inviting you to indulge in a symphony of flavours and an ambience where every detail is a celebration of sophistication. Under the culinary guidance of our talented Executive Chef, Ben Kelliher, the menu unfolds with signature British classics, including expertly grilled steaks perfected in our charcoal-fired Josper Grill and seasonal plant-based delights.

The glass wall overlooking the pass allows guests to witness the culinary artistry, while a skilled waiting team presents selected menu items with a theatrical tableside flourish, adding an element of drama to your dining experience. Our menu is accompanied by an extensive wine list, including a fine selection from Bouchard Finlayson, our vineyard in South Africa, alongside a beautiful Champagne trolley.

    Join the team for a one-hour cooking class. Learn and experience how to make the perfect Beef Wellington. During the experience, you'll enjoy a glass of Champagne and canapés. The experience includes a three-course dinner consisting of our famous London Burrata as a starter, the Beef Wellington as the main course and our founder and president, Mrs Bea Tollman’s famous Baked Vanilla Cheesecake as dessert.  This class runs at 5 pm Tuesday to Saturday, subject to availability Please note this is not a confirmed booking.                                                       A mid week lunch outing for the three of us. A classic British hotel, warmly met by the doorman and then once inside the lobby we were greeted by anther who showed us to the restaurant. A spectacular room with lots of space. For those with deep pockets the a la carte menu and the wine list are very special. We all opted for the set menu. Asparagus to start followed by a chicken dish. Beautifully presented with very adequate portion sizes !!. This was washed down with a bottle of Chilean Pinot Noir. We were too full to squeeze in a desert. A wonderful meal, wine excellent. Service faultless.

                                                      The food was not great. We ordered from the festive set menu!. The vegetable’s were undercooked, we had to ask twice for the cranberry sauce that should have been served with the meal. The service was terrible. My partner received his desert without cutlery and mine followed some time later. The restaurant was not busy but the excuse was that they were really busy. I feel we would have had a better meal in a pub for a third of the price.

                                                      The food is good and portion sizes are generous. Perhaps too generous! The restaurant is off the hotel bar and on the night we were eating the singer in the bar clashed horribly with the piped restaurant music. Made for quite an uncomfortable ambience.

                                                      We went to the English Grill before the show. It was an oasis from the rain and crowds of London. The service was impeccable. The food was delicious and special. It is very expensive but we were celebrating our anniversary and it was worth it!

                                                      Open table gave us a 9:30pm slot available for my family group of 6 to dine at The English Grill. We arrived 9:35 as the restaurant is inside a hotel and the name is not advertised outside, so it tool us some minutes to figure out where is was. When arrived and asked for our reservation, the host's first comment was "Ughh, it is going to be tight" followed by the restaurant manager on duty who advised, we will accommodate you but the kitchen closes 9:45 pm- so you will need to hurry. We were rushed to order, not only mains but we had to order deserts as well.... For a considerably expensive restaurant , the food was good, but when we finished dinner, we were rudely rushed out of the place as it was closing... when complained, the manager simply said, "We told you, and you decided to stay" Why would the place take 9:30 reservations if the kitchen closes 9:45? For what was supposed to be a pleasant family dinner, ended up in a terrible experience.

Delicious pre-theatre menu, and they were very cognizant of getting through our courses on time to depart for the show. Highly recommended, especially if you are attending the Other Palace theater minutes away.
