The food is good and portion sizes are generous. Perhaps too generous! The restaurant is off the hotel bar and on the night we were eating the singer in the bar clashed horribly with the piped restaurant music. Made for quite an uncomfortable ambience.

We went to the English Grill before the show. It was an oasis from the rain and crowds of London. The service was impeccable. The food was delicious and special. It is very expensive but we were celebrating our anniversary and it was worth it!

Open table gave us a 9:30pm slot available for my family group of 6 to dine at The English Grill. We arrived 9:35 as the restaurant is inside a hotel and the name is not advertised outside, so it tool us some minutes to figure out where is was. When arrived and asked for our reservation, the host's first comment was "Ughh, it is going to be tight" followed by the restaurant manager on duty who advised, we will accommodate you but the kitchen closes 9:45 pm- so you will need to hurry. We were rushed to order, not only mains but we had to order deserts as well.... For a considerably expensive restaurant , the food was good, but when we finished dinner, we were rudely rushed out of the place as it was closing... when complained, the manager simply said, "We told you, and you decided to stay" Why would the place take 9:30 reservations if the kitchen closes 9:45? For what was supposed to be a pleasant family dinner, ended up in a terrible experience.

Excellent service and attention to detail. Delicious pre-theatre menu, and they were very cognizant of getting through our courses on time to depart for the show. Highly recommended, especially if you are attending the Other Palace theater minutes away.

I was exposed to COVID-19 the day before my brunch was scheduled with the English Grill. I called to tell the restaurant of this and cancel my reservation. They informed me that they had to charge me their cancellation fee anyway. I explained that I understood policies, but if she could make an exception this time because I didnt want to expose other guests at the restaurant or their staff to the virus. She wouldnt budge and I was charged $65. In a world where we are all trying to stay healthy, this rubbed me the wrong way.

From the moment you arrive you are immersed in a world of British opulence and classic elegance. There were guests from the hotel that were very casually attired, couples on dinners, businessmen in suits, etc.… though all were at home I would recommend this venue for a more elegant/elevated dining experience and attire accordingly. The service was impeccable. The uniformed doorman escorted us and showed us to the restaurant. The maître d’ warmly greeted us and took my girlfriend’s coat to be checked. We were immediately seated in a lovely booth. When we had queried about the cocktails the waiter summoned the bar manager who patiently answered our questions and made smashing recommendations. The pre dinner cocktails were outstanding and not to be missed. Most importantly, the food was outstanding. One of my personal measures in a restaurant is when they serve you your bread. If the bread is good, generally you know that the details have been looked after and the rest of your meal will be good also. In this case, I am delighted to say that the variety of breads brought to our table were incredible along with butter, smoked mackerel, and cheese for spreading. Lobster omelette appetizer was delicious: Light, airy, and rich. Main courses of fresh cod and steak Diane flambéd tableside were outstanding. Wine pairing recommendations were spot on. Dessert was sublime. We both agree this is some of the best dining we have experienced in a city renowned for its excellent dining. We look forward to returning and making this our regular “special occasion.”
