About this restaurant

The Colonel Fawcett restaurant and pub in London’s Camden is everything a proper pub and restaurant should be: roomy, relaxed, a bit eccentric and boasting a superb kitchen. The Colonel Fawcett – named for the apocryphal victim of the last fatal duel in England who allegedly died upstairs, though others make similar claims – uses extremely well-provenanced ingredients in its menu, a combination of modern and classic British dishes sure to please every palate. Saturdays lead with our Brunch menu, Sundays bring super roast dinners and with 14 Craft Beer lines, over 100 Gins and an affordable wine list we have great drinks to match exciting British food. With regards entertainment, Monday Night is Comedy Night in the upstairs bar, Wednesday is Quiz Night and with sunny patios front and back, cast iron spiral staircase, a lounge-able set of unmatched chairs and DJs at the weekends, The Colonel Fawcett has got everything to suit.

We booked in for dinner before the comedy night upstairs, we were in well in advance and told food would be 30mins which would still leave enough time, the food ended up 50mins late and we were left to rush it down in 5 mins before the show with barely an apology. The food was decent for pub food but I won't return due to the delay, it ruined out night a bit and felt like a waste of money as we had no time to enjoy it.

We had a thoroughly relaxing meal for two at the Colonel Fawcett. The service was top notch, telling us about slight changes in the menu (ie. ice cream flavours) and all the staff were very friendly. The food was cooked perfectly and the mid sized portions were large enough. It wasn't a bargain by any means but certainly not over priced. We appreciated the range of board games they had while having a drink.Overall, it was a relaxing and enjoyable environment and I definitely plan on returning. £4 a pint for Becks is fairly pricey but aside from that, there wasn't much wrong.

My husband and I went here before going to a Camden comedy night. It's just a pub but the food is far from just pub-grub! I had mackeral pate to start and my husband had artichoke salad. Both starters were excellent. I then had a fish dish and my husband had sausage and mash. Again, delicious. Thoroughly recommend.

Excellent cocktails. My margarita contained an outstanding number of limes.

We visited the Colonel Fawcett on a Tuesday evening. It was pleasantly full but not too busy to not get a table. The menu was relatively small and quite meat-heavy but there was also an interesting specials list. We went for haddock and leek fish cakes and the lamb burger with rosemary chips. Food was delicious, perfectly cooked and good sized portions. Would definitely recommend the CF for a week day 'gastro-meal' but not necessarily for a special occasion.

The Colonel Fawcett in Camden has great food. On a Friday or Saturday night though, it can be a little like eating in the middle of a club. It's a bit too loud to hear anyone you're eating with, but great if you're going out for the whole night.
