Great experience, food and service. After our spa appointments my sister, mom and I had lunch here. Fresh, delicious and great quality. As a travel agent I will highly recommend this restaurant my clients.

Incredible birthday meal at the Blue Heron Ojo Santa Fe. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was superb. The green chile fries to start, bison bolognese and halibut entrees, and fried apple pie and tiramisu for dessert. Amazing!

Really good food and great staff! A bit pricey, but that's to be expected at a resort.
Loved the soft music and the views.

I've eaten at Blue Heron before and had an excellent meal, so when we were choosing a special place for Thanksgiving dinner, this seemed like a great idea. They promised a "sumptuous" fixed price Thanksgiving dinner experience for $115. Alas, it was neither sumptuous nor worth $115. We were seated in an annex building (Moon House) where the tables had no tablecloths, no place mats, no salt and pepper shakers. Just plain wood/fake wood tables like you'd find in a cafeteria. All the food was brought down from the main restaurant by runners. They worked so hard (we left a big tip) but the food had cooled considerably by the time it made its way across a plaza and down several sets of stairs. The lobster bisque was tasty but not hot. And the bowl was placed on a bare table, no plate, no bread. Same for the creme brulée: tasty but served with no style. The main courses were seriously underwhelming. I had the rib eye which was only fair and the green chile mashed potatoes were flavorful but heavy, not fluffy. My husband had the turkey which was lukewarm. His sides were pretty good, except for the unidentifiable slice of something he couldn't figure out even after tasting it. And there was no gravy! (Did they run out? Were they in a hurry and forgot? Who serves turkey without gravy?) All in all, very disappointing when we were expecting something special and sumptuous. Kudos to the servers who tried their best, but we won't be going back any time soon, and certainly not for a special holiday dinner.

Thanksgiving holiday disappointment dinner
My husband and I went to the Blue Heron Restaurant for Thanksgiving dinner this year. What a mistake! They offered a prix fixe menu that was very pricey $$$, so we expected something pretty spectacular. I never post bad reviews, but this was over the top bad for a holiday dinner.

When we arrived (we had a reservation) they told us that we would be seated not in the restaurant, but in the Moon Room. Surprise! The "Moon Room" is another building used for workshops at Ojo Spa with a little cafe area in the front, and this is where we were seated. No ambiance, the room was cold (30 degrees outside), and it felt like we were being seated at the kids table at Thanksgiving! (could you at least put some white tablecloths on the tables, maybe a candle in the middle?)
Seems they enlisted a bartender to serve the people in this room. He knew a lot about wine, but nothing about table service. (things like giving us silverware settings, taking dirty dishes off the table after each course, etc) Nice guy, but not trained for table service. (there was lots of grumbles coming from the folks seated in this room)

The food was average. Again, it's Thanksgiving, and it's very pricey. They were running food over from the restaurant, down some steps, so some of the food was not hot. (lobster bisque)
It was clear that they were trying to squeeze in as many seatings as they could, and the couples in the Moon Room were extras they tried to squeeze in. BTW, we made our reservation 3 weeks ago. They did not pace the courses, they were very rushed, so disappointing for a holiday meal.

We probably won't go to Blue Heron Restaurant again. Too bad, because we've had better experiences there in the past. Someone made a very bad call this Thanksgiving. Do not go there for holidays.

I used to come here years ago, when this place was Sunrise Springs. Lovely then and even lovelier now.
My husband had never been here so it was a treat for him to discover such a wonderful restaurant and spa. We live here in Santa Fe so we decided to take the afternoon off and turn it into a date, top-down fall drive going down through Galisteo, around on Bonanza Creek Rd, up through La Cienega and finally up to the Ojo Santa Fe Spa and Blue Heron. Gorgeous drive through the country, no highways or interstate. We loved our delicious lunch. My fish tacos were fantastic. He heartily approved of his bison burger with sweet potato fries. The IPA on tap was cold and extremely good! Good service, clean and serene. We will be back, soon!

Food was tasty and presentation very nice!

Service, very substandard for the ambiance and cost.

Clean and nice atmosphere to dine in.

Great potential!
Hire better customer service and service personnel at the whole property.

Oh my goodness! What a wonderful surprise! This meal was one of the best I had during my 10 day visit to New Mexico. The Fajitas were so generous that we got 3 meals out of them and we are hungry eaters. If you like Tiramisu, save room for dessert - theirs rivals any I’ve had in San Francisco, New York or Italy for that matter. The sweet potato fries were delicious (I ate them all while they were hot and crunchy)! I would recommend eating at the Blue Heron even if you are not a guest of the spa or resort.

Meh. Expensive resort prices for not great food. Food delivery felt very rushed with little time to actually talk and enjoy the evening. Quality of food was not great and definitely not worth the price. Would not go back.

Went on the early side of a Monday evening and the restaurant was quiet, and service was quick. Smaller menu with many amazing options - we found it hard to chose just one. Definitely recommend.

Stayed at the Ojo Santa Fe Resort and Spa, so ate dinner and lunch at the Blue Heron. Service was CONSISTENTLY poor, regardless of the day or time. Luckily, the food was outstanding, but the poor customer service is definitely something that the Blue Heron management needs to address.

We came here for an early dinner after a soak in one of the private Ojitos. They have a small but interesting selection of food items. We had the whipped feta appetizer (with honey, pepitas, and sprinkle of chile), which was HUGE; would easily serve 4-6 people. This is first time I have ever taken home an appetizer in a to go box! We had it for lunch the next day and there was still some left. It was fabulous. Both entrees were also excellent. I had the duck enchiladas with mole negra and my husband had the bison short ribs. Everything was really flavorful and well prepared. Portions are substantial, which compensates for Santa Fe resort prices. We each took a little of our entrees home as well. Diverse wine by the glass and beer list, as well as interesting non-alcoholic beverage options. Overall, a great dining experience.

These days, we are grateful to restaurant professionals-- so considering it was a Monday, we were delighted to have a first-class dinner in a beautiful setting. That said, we felt it was less attentive than it should have been for the price. Also, it would be great to have a couple of new, simpler choices on the dinner menu. Maybe in coming months....

Breakfast was so so. We went there for the live music they said online for Sundays but it was not present. My husband n I got the mushroom toast and shrimp and grits. Shrimp and grits were good but the mushroom toast was pretty soggy and barely had any mushrooms, there was tons of spinach and cheese instead. Kind of disappointed.

Tenderloin wasn’t perfect (cooked slightly over) but still very enjoyable. Rather than the steak knife they provided I used the side of my fork to cut it. The other dish we ordered was the Pasta Pomodoro. Outstanding sauce made with San Marzano tomatoes. If the pasta was fresh rather than dried it would have been perfect. Overall I recommend this restaurant, I would go back to try out their other dishes.

All lovely but our server was distracted and slow. Brought us the breakfast menu instead of dessert then didn’t check back in for 5 min. Same with getting the check.
It was late in the lunch service, so there’s that.

Amazing setting and fantastic food. Below average service.

The staff is generally unhelpful and inefficient. We have eaten here quite a few times and NEVER had motivated, high quality service. They won't answer the phone, seating takes time, slow food, drinks took 10 minutes, and very poor alcohol list (just a few beers and wine based cocktails, decent wine choice). Overall though, the food and atmosphere are good enough to keep us coming back.

Limited cocktail menu, out of many items..
Bison short ribs tough and stringy, mashed potatoes almost seemed like instant.
Steak was very tender and flavorful, tiramisu was good.
I’m sure that Covid has presented many challenges to the food and restaurant industry, unfortunately
