   My recent dinner at The Barn at Sparrow Lodge was nothing short of spectacular. This was a special birthday dinner for my partner - and from the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was enchanting – a perfect blend of rustic charm and sophisticated elegance. Lulu greeted us with such a kind and sincere greeting and that attitude carried throughout the evening,! The service was impeccable; attentive without being intrusive, making us feel truly special. And the food? Absolutely A+++++++. Each dish was a culinary delight, beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. The Barn truly made my birthday celebration unforgettable.    The meals, service and space were equally excellent. A quiet outdoor oasis with limited seating helped to keep the evening intimate. Food was top level from start to finish. A hummingbird visited our table for a minute just as we were leaving. A perfect ending to our experience

   Setting is lovely. Service was attentive but very rushed despite our request to have an appetizer with our cocktails before we ordered the main courses but that didn't work. Salads arrived before we were finished and the main courses within minutes of finishing our salads. Pasta was excellent but serving very skimpy (good rule of thumb is that pasta should at least cover the bottom of the plate it is served on - our $29 Cacio e Pepi agnolotti was excellent but appetizer sized). We asked if we could come to the Sparrow for cocktails in the evening but were told maybe at 5 PM because they were too busy afterwards and couldn't manage cocktails - we will probably be back at some point but we cancelled the reservation for four we had made for later this week for visiting Canadians.

    Rarely do I encounter places that turn out to be exactly how I’d hoped and imagined they would be. The lodge is quiet but alive, if that makes sense. There are people around and there’s a great energy while having a quiet, candlelit camping feel. The staff was amazing, so kind and funny, attentive, giving recommendations. I came to eat alone, so I ended up chatting a lot with the servers about the area and food sources and a slew of other things. It’s clear that have a passion for delivering quality food. And the food! Delicious! They recommended the hamachi crudo and it was fantastic. I’m from NYC so I have my fair share of fine dining but this was by far the best hamachi crudo I’ve had. I got the barn burger because they were out of the pasta (I plan to return) and devoured it. The meat was cooked to perfection and it was a high-quality twist on bar classic. They also have a rotating seasonal draft beer, which was so good. And all of this while I got to enjoy the quiet, with a bonfire nearby and adults only, just enjoying the ambiance. It’s very clear why this place has been Michelin rated multiple years. I can’t wait to go back.
