   We booked a table for dinner, we thought the place was buzzing and fun. The food was good but a little under seasoned, nice choices on the menu. The wine list was great, lots to choose from. Unfortunately the service wasn't great. Some of the staff were ok and tried their best the others were really miserable and just appeared to go out of their way to ignore us.

   I would definitely come back ! Menu options are not large but enough to satisfy every palate. Get some room for the sticky Toffee pudding as dessert, it is delicious !

   Regrettably food quality is becoming increasingly disappointing. Such a shame as atmosphere wise The Avalon has so much potential. Also, and this is a completely personal point of view, I don't like being welcomed by the host as 'darling'. Think it's not professional. Avalon is lucky with location but if thing don't improve the discerning guests won't come back.

   I met a friend for weekday lunch and ate the rump steak. The waiter was polite with a sense if humour and did not rush us (it was very quiet being weekday). The food was really nice. I had to rush out for an emergency call half way through eating and in my return the waiter offered to warm my food again under the grill so it wasn't cold, which was a sweet touch. Puddings were pretty good too! Note: parking here is paid (£2.50/hr) during the day, but it's very close to Clapham South tube.

   The food here was actually quite good, and I thus feel bad even posting this. But the place is so incredibly loud that it was impossible to enjoy the meal. It's a common problem in this city, but it really stood out here (even by a Friday night standards). Unfortunayely, the louder the place got as the night wore on, the worse the service got, too. A shame, I really wanted to like this place.

   Used the 50% off voucher so good value for money. Went on a Thursday night and sevice was very slow indeed, servers not engaged or interested. Good average at best. Wouldn't go back.

   Me and my partner had wanted to dine at The Avalon for a while and when we saw an advertisement promoting a 50% discount in January we immediately registered and booked a table. We had a drink in the bar to start with and were greeted by a lovely waitress who asked if we wanted a menu. We then made our way to the table and were talked through the menu, the specials, and had the discount voucher explained. I opted for the chicken pie from the specials menu and my partner had the beef burger. Both meals were delicious, we really enjoyed them both and would definitely recommend. We had a few waiters visit our table when we were eating and they were all great but I did find it a little cheeky that 12% service charge was added to the bill. I worked as a waitress for many years and we would have only added a service charge to tables of 6+ I think to charge 12% on a bill for two who both only had one course seems a little cheeky. We always leave a tip but it's nice for that decision to be our own. Although, this isn't a complaint as the experience was great and we will definitely visit The Avalon again.

   One of my favorites.. Not only is there roast great they always have some lovely fish dishes too!

    Went for Sunday lunch at a time before the restaurant got busy for the Xmas parties. Took 10 minutes to receive a menu. Food came out so quick that it had obviously been re-heated and thrown on the plate. No one asked how the meal was or whether we wanted condiments with our meal. The place was dirty, I was sat on a bench which looked to have half the food off of someone's plate. The waitresses did not offer to clean the mess so I just shovelled into to the floor, where it sat there. Shame as it's my local, so nice eaten there a number of times but on that experience I will not rush back
