The cocktails, food, and service were all amazing. Server had great recommendations. We will defined be back soon!!
Was good, food was smaller but still yummy.
It taught me that even if you go to a restaurant with a great reputation and a high price point it doesn’t guarantee that your food will be all that flavorful or well-seasoned.
My dinner was about $60 total with taxes and tip, but I wouldn’t recommend that restaurant nor be eager to go back to it.
I feel like I could’ve made a better dressing for the Caesar salad.
The crab cake reminded me of canned tuna.
The jalapeño cheddar grits didn’t have enough salt nor heat from the jalapeños. The heat from the jalopeno was minimal, and the cheese was bland AF. I feel like the grits were under cooked because they were still a little chewy.
I really wanted to like this place, as even celebrities have dined here in the past, but the food itself mediocre at best.
Excellent food. Loved the crab tostada appetizer! Cocktails also very good. The patio is on the 2nd floor so not impacted by street noise and is semi covered. We will return!
Wonderful outdoor dining experience with great food and great friends
Wonderful ambiance, delicious soup, lovely service
I’ve been to Annie many times in the past. I enjoyed the Tenno Atkins they made to the restaurant. The bar area is spectacular, and I love the artwork in the main dining area. The noise level was a little much, but people were having a good time. I’m looking forward to coming back for Sunday brunch and sitting on the patio.
Service and food was average. Disappointed that it didn’t meet our expectations considering the hype.
Caesar salad mediocre but Pate and pimento cheese appetizers DELISH,...as were crabmeat nachos!
Oysters were fantastic. Good champagne and excellent suggestions for wine. Burger was mediocre but lobster roll was pretty good. They were generous ans gave us free cake and wine for my husband’s birthday. Patio is beautiful. Would definitely dine again.
We ordered the crab tostado as an appetizer to share and while I am a guacamole fan I thought the guacamole was a little too thick and overwhelmed the crab which I could barely taste and I think was minimal at best. The cost for the appetizer of $22 was not worth it in my opinion. I ordered lamb chops medium rare and they came out medium well just a touch of pink. Way overcooked which made them tasteless. Not sure about the “pulled lamb” mixed with hominy as a side to the meal - didn’t add anything to the meal...my husband had the scallops which he enjoyed - he had no complaints. I was disappointed in my meal, but didn’t send it back. Our waiter was excellent and very attentive
Fantastic food, and fantastic service. Would recommend for any occassion.
Wonderful new twist on appetizers; we shared 5 different ones for an evening girlfriend meal outside
Salad was mostly lettuce.
Wonderful lunch on the patio. Enjoyed the crab tostadas, fried chicken sandwich, and prime rib sandwich. Service was excellent - friendly, courteous and competent. Brunch/lunch menu looked delicious and we will back to try the other items on the menu.
The negative part of the brunch was that A very loud Mariachi Band played from 12:30-1pm in different sections of the restaurant. Although they are very talented, the volunteers was so loud that we could not talk, even when the band was in another section. We planned to order dessert and coffee but changed our minds, paid quickly and left.
Drinks were very watered down, and entrees were good but not worth the price point. Good service and very good atmosphere. They did make my wife’s birthday special with a complimentary dessert.
The food is great. When you finally receive i. The service is very slow.
We treat ourselves to a night at the Annie Café about every other month. Never a disappointment. Sam and his staff make the experience great.
I asked the waiter for a certain wine, come back with a list of wine.., never gave a chance to taste the wine before pour it to full level like most high end restaurant. Seem to be in a hurry and forget many request items. Like napkins etc. seem to be not very knowledgeable about the Services in a upscale restaurant or seem to be a upscale place. Very disappointed specifically on Valentine’s Day with my love one.
Our server was helpful and the person busing the table was excellent. She noticed my wife bag had fallen off the 3rd chair and immediately brought pole for hanging bags. When we finished our entre and desert she politely asked if we wished to order any of three forms of coffee. The combination made for above par service.
The crab tostadas were amazing! We also had the lamb rigatoni and fried chicken sandwich. Everything was delicious
Nice experience with celebrating out anniversary , definitely we will come back again.
Overall, we really enjoyed the dinner. We didn't feel rushed considering it was Valentines weekend, the server was very professional, but wasn't snooty or stuffy. Our cocktails were excellent, highly recommend the Madame Butterfly and my Old Fashion (not the smoky one) was plain and simple.
For our appetizer, we ordered oysters on the half shell and kale salad and our entrees were the beef tenderloin, lamb chops and the street corn side dish. Presentation was excellent, and everything tasted great. Everything was timed properly and table maintenance was outstanding... water glasses were always full, and I didn't have to fill our wine glasses the entire night.
My only complaint is that the food was not not hot enough. It wasn't cold, I'd say it was somewhere between warm and hot, if that makes sense. I don't want it scorching hot, but a little warmer and I wouldn't have anything negative to say. I'd definitely go back, but not on a regular basis, prices were on the high side, so this is definitely a "special occasion" restaurant for us. We spent about $340 which includes a bottle of wine and gratuity @ 22%
The crab tostadas were amazing. Service was great, although our check was mixed up with another guest and one of our servers ( the gentleman ) appeared a little annoyed and was a little loud about it.. We didn't like that.
We’ve dined here before. The service was bad this time. Really bad. We won’t be going back for the following reasons:
-we had a reservation for at least a month in advance. We were sat at an awkward tiny table for two on the north side of the restaurant past the bar area. The table was so small and we were sitting so far from each other we could not hear each other talk. A couple next to us at the same type of table also mentioned this issue to us as well. So it made for an uncomfortable evening.
Why do restaurants stick 2 ppl on these tiny tables in areas that are nooks and crannies or awkwardly placed? I understand from a business perspective but these tables are horrible.
The service was subpar. Once the waiter received a table of 4 next to us, we and the couple next to us were forgotten for at least 20 minutes.
There are too many good restaurants in Houston to choose to dine with and spend $300 or more in an evening. Having subpar service is not acceptable.
Restaurants really need to recommit to service. Exceptional service.
Unfortunately, we won’t be back for these reasons.
Advice: Request a table for 4 ppl when dining as a couple. Request a waiter you know can deliver on service.
Otherwise, the food was good.
Excellent everything. Bday card for our son, signed by all employees. Great food, martinis, service!
Excellent food and service. Christina and Chef made the night very special. Thank you
It has really dropped. Food was not very good. Clearly not Del Grande’s food coming out. Servers were young and not very good.
Will not return after many years
Talked to several people who had the same experience or worse
Great Service and Amazing food! I highly recommend The Annie Cafe & Bar!
While the dining experience was great, we had a very bad experience with the valet service at Annie. When we finished dinner, our Tesla was right at the front door. I gave the attendant my ticket and a tip and he handed me a Tesla key. We drove home and I got a call from the valet service saying I had taken the wrong key and I needed to return immediately to the restaurant. I did return and exchanged the key, but don’t appreciate being made to feel like it was my mistake. The attendant didn’t bother to check my claim ticket against the one taped to the key he gave me. And the caller was condescending and blaming me for the error. Not good. The other Tesla owner wasn’t aware but is lucky I was kind enough to go back in the moment instead of making the valet service come to or wait till the next day.
Need an extra napkin for the Lobster BLT - I am now 2 for 2 on stained slacks after lunch...
Improving every visit
Restaurant is really great, we will definitely be back
Great food and great decor. A very classy place.
Nice atmosphere, great food. Recommended to seat outdoors due to the pandemic
Annie Cafe, Cafe Annie, and RDG have always been our favorite Houston restaurant. The food and service were outstanding and we loved the new decor!
