Terrace by Mix Mix
Our first time here and the food was excellent. We selected the four course with duck as the entree and other plates were mussels, tostada, roasted mushrooms. All were great although there could be less salt in some items, especially the mussels. The restaurant is tiny with only 5 or so tables inside and 3-4 outside on the patio. There is a patio/lounge chair area outside as well.
The food was amazing! The service was good and the experience was fun. I would love to come back and try their other menu items.
The restaurant is in a nice location and the staff is very friendly. We do wish our waiter had been able to answer more of our questions about the menu (he did come back with the answers later, but we had already placed our order). I can also understand the “no substitution” policy to a point, but if you are not going to allow me to substitute out a turnip then it had better be the best turnip I have ever had and not the tasteless spongy veggie I received.
The chef at Mix Mix is a culinary artist of the hightest level. The food was really terrific, imaginatively presented and lovely prepared. You will never be disappointed with your meal or experience at Terrace by Mix Mix....or at Mix Mix in Santa Ana! Enjoy!!!
Food was outstanding. Service (thank you Alana) was fantastic. We will be back!
Delicious small plates, Excellent house wine selection, and Exceptional service.
Can't wait to go back!
The restaurant is located in the South Coast Plaza side on Bear Street that was formerly known as Crystal Court, on the third floor by the elevator. It was indoor and terrace seating and a modern/minimalist feel with neutral colors. We were early so I can't truly describe the noise level when the restaurant is full, but nice and quiet when we were there. The menu is varied but limited and I think they could do with a few more entrees. I felt the appetizers and small plates were well priced but the entrees seemed high to me. As for the food, I started with the goat cheese toast with sliced grapes, toasted slightly sweetened almonds, micro-greens and a drizzle of EVOO. It is definitely one of the best things I've ever eaten and a generous serving. I went on to have the Raviolo with egg -- a house-made large single ravioli with a perfectly runny egg yolk nestled in a bed of herbed ricotta. I just wish they served it with a spoon (or a single crouton) so I could have scooped up the last bit of egg yolk and ricotta. I swear I was tempted to lick the plate. My last dish was the duck breast with blackberries and served with crispy polenta and roasted turnips (I think). Again delicious. The duck was not as crispy as something like Peking duck, but it was far crispier than any French roasted duck I've had and the fat was nicely rendered. It was done to perfection as was the buttery, light and crispy polenta -- to me, the polenta could also be served by itself as a small plate with a sauce on the side. My companion was well-pleased with the house salad and the agnolotti. She is allergic to tomatoes so, on request, they were kind enough to leave tomatoes out and just add browned butter and parmesan. I tried it and thought it wonderful. I think they are somewhere in between a tapas restaurant and whatever you'd call one that isn't. I was very happy and might just order appetizers and small plates but my dinner companion wanted more choices under entrees.
The location was perfect for alfresco dining at South Coast Plaza. My friends and I went for brunch and the food was equally enjoyable. Notable choices were pork adobo with fried rice, mussels stuffed with longanisa (Filipino style sausage) and cinnamon French toast which was thick, topped with marscapone cheese and not too sweet maple syrup, lardons and fresh blackberries. Service was attentive yet not too intrusive. This is a great place before, between or after shopping, or simply a dining destination.
Great place a girls night out dinner. Food was delicious
We loved the food, service and atmosphere. We tried several different small plates and each were delicious.
We always love coming here with our friends to celebrate. Chris our waiter is awesome. Do not let him go! He’s knowledgeable, funny and knows when to service his customers. We love him!!
Service was haphazard and indifferent. Food was only fair. Brussels Sprouts drowning in sauce; mussels over cooked. Fried rice OK . The only good thing is you can have a conversation since it is quiet, but not a place I would return to.
Perfect for lunch, foods was very good. Will be back
Adventurous fusion food. Some of the dishes were amazing, a couple of them missed. A little pricey, but it’s a beautiful place with excellent service.
Best deal in town
The five of us shared and all dishes ware fantastic
The crudo is the best I ever had Wednesday free wine paring is a steal
Great food with a Filipino flair, pork adobo fried rice was a highlight, the croquettes were extremely popular and also quite good.
We shared the ravioli and the pulled pork tacos which were really good. Definitely will return to try other dishes.
The food is wonderful; fresh unique flavors. I appreciate the $20 price fix lunch; great value.
Great service by Tyler! Well decorated , loved the patio and the food was amazing !!
Strongly recommend this anyone looking for unique and delicious meal, whether lunch or dinner.
We decided to try this restaurant for our anniversary celebration and did the 6 course (chef’s choice) tasting menu with wine pairings. Both of us were very impressed. Plating here for each dish was beautiful with great attention to detail. Taste of each course was very good to spectacular. Wine pairings were very well done. The dishes were one appetizer, four that could easily be main dishes (pasta, salmon, duck and steak) and dessert. The steak in the last savory course was a little chewy but still tasted good. Service was excellent. We enjoyed each presentation and the surprise of them. Thank you for a lovely evening. Looking forward to returning soon.
Awesome food - very innovative
Nice atmosphere. Dined outside very pleasant. Service was attentive. Ordered Poki on small plate menu was not my favorite. Lots of chewy fat , not much flavor. Expensive for the portion size.
Food and service are consistently wonderful
Business lunch. Got seated at table, waited over 20 minutes to get menus. Food is ok, but service is brutal. Not recommended.
Fun vibe and decor, decent food but horribly poor service. Waiter knew nothing about the menu, couldn’t answer basic questions about portions, specials as if he was new, but then told us the reason he was so busy was because he was training someone. When we arrived, there were no seats left inside despite making a reservation. Underwhelming and wouldn’t return.
Amazing food!!! Chef does not disappoint
First time and enjoyed the lunch. Waitress and waiter were very attentive and was a very good experience
We went to Terrace for Restaurant Week and had an excellent meal! Also, our service was super cool & nice (Steve? sorry the wine flight made my memory foggy). Having lived in NYC & having a chef father I am typically a pretty harsh critic sooo my positive review says a lot. We have always loved Mix Mix in Santa Ana so we were happy this location did not disappoint. If I had to say anything critical - the space is kinda odd (small & inside the mall). However they are making the best of it. The terrace is nice I just don't like eating outside in the winter - I want to take off my coat & relax. So we ate inside which is a bit tight, but all in all a great experience and will def return :)
My friend and I were first time-diners. Restaurant week menu & price were excellent. We are eager to dine there again...SOON! Service was a tad disjointed but very friendly and knowledgeable.
Went to check out Terrace after the theatre and it happened to be restaurant week. Excellent food and value. Great wine pairings with food week menu.
Hats off to the chef he's amazing and so if the food, loved it . Going back!!!
The food was outstanding but the serive was a little slow.
Food was fantastic! There was a different burst of flavor with each bite. Definitely coming back!
We came for the Orange County restaurant week prix fixe menu, this was our first time. We did not know what to expect, and were literally blown away. The service and menu were excellent, and everything we ate was bright, clean, perfectly executed, and absolutely delicious. The albacore tostadas, the endive salad, the house made pork and wild boar sausage over adobo fried rice - all phenomenal. When you couple the food with equally attentive and knowledgeable service, it’s a homerun. We will be returning - soon!
The food and service was on point. Came for lunch for OC Restaurant Week and so happy we did. The tostadas and goat cheese toast were very tasty but light enough as an appetizer. The salmon and steak were prepared very well. The presentation was beautiful on all three courses which leads me to dessert! I am a confirmed chocoholic and the chocolate hazelnut panna cotta was tasty but the tropical panna cotta was the perfect balance of sweet and tangy! I have been to the Santa Ana location and it is very good but I think I may prefer this location. I will need to return to research some more- ha!
3rd time I’ve made reservations for Terrace by MixMix, 3rd time I’ve thoroughly enjoyed myself. I took my mom for her first time to celebrate her birthday and my girlfriend and they too loved the quality and look of the food, as well as the ambiance.
Very Nice -- we did a company lunch and they were super accommodating and everyone loved the food ;-)
Good food, though a limited selection. Fine service.
loved the PriFIx menu -- great food -- great service -- what's not to like :-)
