Unlike any tempura you've had elsewhere. If you're a fan of this dish, this is the place to go. The coating is lacy and barely covers the food. And so crunchy. The place to sit is at the bar as the chef hands it over to you the instant it's done so it loses none of its texture. The chef has found ways to even make uni tempura and mozzarella cheese tempura! It's a lot of money here. We ordered the Kiyomizu menu (the middle priced one) and were very stuffed. This is a special occasion restaurant for someone who adores tempura.

We booked the first seating at the bar. We had an excellent view for the food prep and we were able to converse with the chefs. The food was excellent- a great mix of tempura and non-fried items. We loved grilling the wagu and all the directions on how to enjoy eat bite best (they tell you want condiment to pair). It felt very special and we had such fun. I visited the Kyoto main location and wanted to come to the stateside. It didn’t disappoint!

Thanksgiving Dinner at Endo in Beverly Hills. Must say it could have been Ginza, Shibuya or any other swank locale in Tokyo. You get the real deal here without paying for plane fare to Japan. Three of us ordered the Kiyomizu Course which was a showcase of refinement, excellence and creativity by the Japanese chefs behind the tempura bar and copper dome. The presentation, timing and attention to detail of each course was perfect as was the outstanding service by the staff upon entering the front door to departing in your car. Our tummies were fully satisfied but not uncomfortably stuffed….:my daughters and I will relish this most enjoyable holiday dining experience. As for my wallet……ouch!!!….but you are in Beverly Hills and rent must be paid!!!

This is a fine dining fixed menu tumpura restaurant. The least expensive option is around $400, ranging to $600 per person. The food is incredible, the service second to none, and the ambiance is perfect. They also have a respectable sake selection!

A very unique dining experience for an omakase tempura feast. Every ingredient was simple but great quality. Highlights were the halibut, tofu, eel, and the dessert potato with vanilla ice cream. Despite the small team, the service was impeccable and warm. Tip: Parking in The Flats neighborhood is the safest and easiest location close to the restaurant.

I took my girlfriend here, and I was not all too impressed. We chose the most expensive selection, the HIGASHIYAMA Omakase, thinking we will get what we paid for, but I was a little disappointed. What attracted me to come here was the Wagyu Tempura. The photos on yelp and even on their menu shows it. When asked if they serve this, they no longer have it, and they have changed their pre-set fix menu. To me, this is false advertising, if they charge so high, why can’t they at least afford to update the photo on their menu. What they have instead is a 3 paper thin slice of Wagyu, that we have to cook over a hot stone. It was good, but the amount was a tease. Yes it’s true the tempura was probably the lightest and crispiest I’ve ever eaten in my life, but the amount of food offered did not equal to $320 per person. We were only given one piece of shrimp. Other than the tempura batter that was light and non-greasy, I will give them that, but the seafood was mediocre. There was no awe moment for me. The lobster was a little dry, and did not bring the sweet and fresh ocean taste for an expensive restaurant. People who eat fresh seafood knows what I mean. I understand frying might lose the freshness, but they need to figure this out to retain it, by not overcooking. I believe the chef missed this time control. Also the group of patron at the bar was very noisy. I believe they were Indonesian, but was very loud. Just to be fair, it was only one guy in the group was speaking very load in their native language. It totally ruined the ambience, and our enjoyment of our meal. It was very distracting on every bite of my food! I would not recommend coming here. You can get better quality food and ambiance elsewhere with only a quarter of the price. For example, Yama Seafood Market in San Gabriel, you can get Hokkaido Scallops for less than $2 a piece. 🙂

It’s so good. Don’t try to think it as the other tempura. You will get mind blow if you first try omakase tempura. The environment is quiet. Th food is super good. I like all the fish tempuras and vegetable tempuras. The fish is so fresh and juicy. I don’t even believe that vegetables is dried. However, the sashimi is not as good as the other omakase on the same price level. But, of course, is better than other sushi. The only thing I will consider is parking. A little bit hard to find parking. Advise is Linden Dr have meters parking. And another advise is try cheapest tempura omakase first.

I went there as a birthday dinner on a trip to Los Angeles. The food was usually good, but I was not thrilled with any of the plates. The service was excellent. The beer was not quite cold enough, and when I told them so, they chilled it for me with ice. Also they waited outside until the Uber arrived. The course was $180 for two people, 3 soft drinks, and 2 medium size of draft beers for $500. It was delicious, but I think it was overpriced.

I m a big fan of Japanese food I been in Japan 8 times I m at Japanese restaurants in LA twice a week and I love the food, the culture. At this place I been twice once when it was opened a while ago and was not a fan either. The second time was on my birthday and my GF took me there to give it a second shot. The taste of the food is mediocre, and pretentious and if you find something to your taste it is mini size. When we left the restaurant we still felt not satisfy and wanted more food. I spend over $500 for two of us and it made me angry. The only good things I can say about this place is the service was prompt in the Japanese tradition and the look of the dishes which looked artistic. Sorry for being so critical. I was intrigued by the beautiful artistic photos. But when I am going to eat in a restaurant the FOOD is the number one in my priority and this place failed on this part.

I must say the service and the ambience was exceptional however for the price we paid, I had higher expectations for the food. We ordered the $200 per person omakase, the batter could have been thinner with less oily taste. I also believe there could have been more food/courses. Overall, it was a great experience but I just don't think it was worth $520 (including tips and taxes) for 2 people.

The foods are really good! They have the same menu from the Endo in Kyoto, and I think they import ingredients from Japan so they are pricey. I had the higashiyama course, I chose it because it’s the place where I met my wife. Overall, the food tasted amazing, the dishes have high standard (just like what I usually had in Japan), and they almost made me think that I was in Japan. Yet, as the course continued, they became oily and heavy since the course has so many dishes. Also, the caviar dish did not stand out from others. Hence, I recommend others to choose the other two courses unless you eat a lot.
