   We spent a very nice Sunday lunch at this lovely Sicilian restaurant! The food was brilliantly executed, respectful of the true Sicilian culinary tradition! I am Sicilian myself and often feel homesick, so I was happy to find a place where I could feel like home and find all the flavours of my childhood! The service was very good and attentive, the portions very generous - just like you would expect from a Sicilian restaurant, thank God! We had caponata and arancini, crocchette and panelle as a starter and pastas as a main. It was all so good, but we were already so full up that we couldn’t make it to the dessert! We’ll be definitely back for them!

   Our visit did not start well having arrived at exactly our booking time, were asked for name etc.. and then promptly ignored for 15-20 minutes by every single member of staff. Usually if a table is not ready you might be prompted to take a seat at the bar for a drink to relax but being left in limbo, by the front door, with no communication is not very nice. The barman also ignored us so... We were eventually seated after managing to get someone's attention. Ordering was fairly prompt and the food that came was OK. Not bad in anyway but also not particularly special. Some elements of the antipasti were very good. The pasta was cooked well and tasted nice but I can't rave about either dish. If you've been to Italy/Sicily or a good Italian restaurant elsewhere you know what I mean. By this point we didn't fancy staying for dessert but did order a coffee and a liquor coffee - a coffee and a straight liquor arrived instead. The bill came and we had charged us for bread that had never arrived (the table next to us had also complained about that). On an increasingly rare opportunity for a date night I didn't think either was worth arguing about so paid and left. We came away feeling you might have to know the owner (who seems to be acting in a slightly odd front of house role) or be known enough to qualify for a picture for the wall (or Instagram for people who care about that) to get a decent service here. A shame and re-reading some of the negative reviews I had seen before - I can relate.

   We had a very warm welcome when some of our party arrived 15 minutes early due to the inclement weather, which was lovely. The lady was extremely friendly and there were no other occupied tables at that time. Having ordered drinks, we had to explain several times that we were waiting for the last person to arrive before ordering our food .... they arrived exactly at the booked time. We all ordered from the pre-theatre menu, which had an understandably limited selection, but all the food was excellent, especially the Lemon Chicken. The service was very attentive all through the meal. However we felt very pressurised and rushed while we were eating -for example, plates were being cleared from the table, while one person was still eating, which was quite unnecessary. Yes we would recommend for the food, the environment and the general atmosphere, but to feel less scrutinised and rushed would have been preferable.

   Booked using opentable. No record of me at restaurant. Had to show them app. Ate from 3 course theatre menu since we only had 1hr 40mins. 30 minutes wait for stater. Mozzarella and tomato which doesn’t take much preparation. At this point restaurant was close to empty. Another 45 minutes for main. Lasagne resembled poor quality microwaveable version. Meat dissolved, pasta fell apart. No taste. At this point all other guests were getting frustrated at length of time for anything to arrive. Had to skip dessert since time had run out. Couple next to us who arrived shortly after me, were served nothing by the time they needed to leave but at least they didn’t have to pay for the food which had they tasted it would have made the experience worse. Maybe the worst managed restaurant I’ve ever been to. Manager was hiding downstairs behind the bar. One poor girl upstairs doing her best. Shameful. Avoid. Got to the pub next door and get a packet of nuts. It will arrive quicker, taste better and probably be more nutritious.
