About Taormina Sicilian Cuisine
Inspired by authentic Sicilian recipes from the kitchens of Southern Italy's seaside town of Taormina, Chef Hiroyuki Mimura pairs fresh pastas with the highest quality seafoods and meats. Unspoiled by heavy sauces, Sicilian-style pastas are dressed in pure, extra virgin olive oil. Fresh vegetables, lightly grilled fresh local fish, and lamb seasoned with herbs offer diners a healthy range of options.Featured dishes include fresh Fettucine Carbonara finished with tableside Truffle service, grilled Lamb Chops "Palermo" and Veal "Siciliana." Taormina's specialty dish is Uni Pasta (Sea Urchin), a delicacy enjoyed in Japan and Italy. Italian espressos compliment selections of house made desserts (Dolci).

Taormina Sicilian Cuisine Ratings and Reviews
The lasagna was maybe one of the best I've tried. Huge portion. The service was extraordinary; even though they took a long time to bring our food since we didn't ask for appetizers, they made it right bringing us a delicious eggplant and dessert as courtesy.
OMG!The lasagna is to die for! Service was personal and professional. This is a very attractive small restaurant that concentrates on -- and succeeds in -- doing a limited number of things exceptionally well. The Prix fixe menu with wine accompanying 3 of the 4 courses is a great value (especially at lunch).
We have dined at Taormina about 12 tImes over the last 4 years. Each time we thought to ourselves "wow", the food was that good. On this visit however, the food was quite simply
not as good as in the past. We thought to ourselves "meh" : not bad, but noticeably and distinctly more bland and less awesome than before.
In retrospect, we should have brought this to the attention of the staff.
Having said that, we hope it was just a one time thing, and we plan to go again.
A friendly welcome started a delicious Italian dinner in the heart of Waikiki! Pasta with fresh tomato sauce & delicious fresh breads. My favorite was the olive! A different spin on traditional lasagna. It arrived looking more like a "pot pie" but delicious none the less. The addition of blue cheese gave it a real twist! Yummy! Morton chocolate cake was the perfect ending and nice that the manager is from the east coast!! 😊
We enjoyed the restaurant however would make different choices in the future. I did not care for the squid ink linguini and the fruit Del Mar was short on seafood with one scallop and two small shrimp along with some clams. My husband had king salmon which was good but small. We are from Alaska and anticipated a larger portion. The salad was good - one serving enough to share with extra.
The bread was very disappointing. It was so hard on top like it was reheated or overheated. We asked for a new batch but that, too, wasn't satisfactory. Again, they left it in the microwave too long so by the time we got it, it was hard. Other than the bread, our entrees and appetizer were fine.
It was again, a spectacular experience! Kaui, our server and everyone else made us so comfortable. We requested a window table and received it. It was so relaxing and the food was superb! I can't get enough of the Mentaiko Pasta. I cleaned my plate... literally! I definately will be back again!
This is one of those places you will go back to whenever you are in Honolulu. It is small and intimate but the chef is uber creative, like you would expect from the finest in NYC. Local and fresh ingredients make the meals even better than that. Wine list provides excellent selection at a variety of prices, many very reasonable (i.e. low). Service was perfect. Our waiter, Stan, has been there over 10 years. That says a lot.
We were on vacation and found this gem walking by and new right away it was for us. After an amazing meal and outstanding bottle of Italian an wine that Rocko the manager helped us with, we were sad to leave.
Can’t wait to get back! Service was great and Rocko made our night even more special!
We were shown to the small upstairs overflow room in the empty restaurant fir our pre booked 5.30 early dinner . We had to insist on a table in the empty main restaurant area . The staff showing us to table had no idea . The waiting staff were wonderful . Old nat king cole + music loud music gave old style ambience . Nothing modern about this restaurant. Top quality food; highly referred and regarded .
Highly recommended restaurant on Trip Advisor. Our party was disappointed with the quality of the food, outside of the clam pasta dish which was excellent. Everything else was significantly overpriced and substandard in taste. The pasta moderna was particularly unpleasant.
