Tangawizi restaurant in London’s East Twickenham, close to Richmond Bridge, earned the well-heeled locals’ devotion right from the off. The chef is ‘trained by and strongly recommended by Vineet Bhatia’ and that’s saying quite a lot. The dining room is very smart, mood-enhancingly lit in saffron and blackberry with details of beautiful sari fabric inlaid in the tables. Dishes are authentic North Indian, but cutting-edge and contemporary, the way we Londoners like them: the freshest of ingredients, little oil, sparkling flavours. Try the mixed platter of starters to share to really browse the possibilities, then choose something like spicy marinated red snapper in tempura batter served with cheddar and Parmesan risotto, with one of the lovely dahls on the side. The traditionally-clad waitstaff are very attentive and the whole experience a winner.

Tangawizi have been selling the best Indian food in Twickenham/Richmond for over 20 years. The menu continues to develop. It’s great.

Always great service, staff very polite and engage in conversation with diners if wanted. Food is excellent. Atmosphere is great. Can’t recommend highly enough.

I eat out a lot. I eat Indian a lot. And I can safely say this was the best Indian food I have had! Lots of nice different chefs specials, awesome unctuous sauces and really warm hospitality and service. It was sooooo good, we ordered the same main courses again to take away with us! I cannot recommend this restaurant enough!

My wife and I went to Tangawizi for our 15th anniversary last night and it was AMAZING!!! I was sooooo impressed with the food. We had the Kadhai Prawn curry which was top drawer - we eat in lots of indians across London and this is definitely one of the best (if not the BEST) we've ever had. The Lamb Pepper Fry was also really good. Service was amazing - lovely people. If you're a curry lover you must get down to Tangawizi ASAP!!

Tangawizi is the best Indian restaurant in London. The food is outstanding and innovative. The staff are always friendly and helpful in good making choices. I also love the cocktails. I strongly recommend it.

We go to Tangawizi frequently although it is well out of our area. The food is always delicious, the staff are friendly and efficient and the ambience is welcoming both couples and to larger groups. One welcome feature is that the menu adds specialities to staple favourites so the palate does not get bored. Last evening one of us had the special lamb dish -delicious, the other the new, and very light, fish dish. Equally good. And there is a new wine list; I recommend the pinot noir. We hope to return to Tangawizi very soon.
