Had a lovely time and enjoyed the food. My two sisters were with me...it was for my birthday. I had a Caesar Salad and both of them had Lamb Burgers. Tangata did not disappoint...I will certainly consider coming again. Thank you...

What a find. A well-run, handsome restaurant with good food in a beautiful setting at a world-class museum.

Our second visit and glad we tried it again after a disappointing first time earlier this year. We were greeted, seated, got great service and yummy food. Can't wait to go back.

I had the Salmon Cobb Salad which was not extraordinary, but was very good. My friend had the Butternut Squash soup that was presented with a drizzle of olive oil on its surface. The presentation of the gold colored soup with the green olive oil on its surface was beautiful. It looked like a modern painting. She also enjoyed the cold smoke salmon and pickled vegetables on bread.

Our server was great. He was attentive, but not hovering and joked with us over the dessert offerings. When we returned to the restaurant about an hour later, after finishing our tour of the museum, he came over to us at the host desk and validated our parking ticket which we had forgotten to take care of following lunch. He remembered us and referenced the joke over the dessert. He added the "frosting on the cake" to our visit to Tangata and Bowers Museum.

This restaurant is located inside the Bower's Museum and has great food if you're visiting the museum or not. It also has a full bar. The atmosphere is open with a skylighted ceiling (I'd love to try it when it's raining). We had Saturday brunch. The menu is not overwhelming, but has just enough to please everyone. The burger was delicious, the Salmon Cobb was yummy and Salmon was cooked perfectly. The smoked salmon appetizer was also wonderful. The only downside was although their omelet was delicious, it needed a salad to accompany it. It wasn't quite enough on it's own. I'll go again.

Tangata, is a Fusian restaurant located in the Bowers Museum. Restaurant is not cozy and the noise level is high, It is very bright, and tables for two are close together and in the middle, so if you get one of these, you are basically eating with strangers. Need to get a table by back wall or the window. We had reservations, yesterday, and they wanted to put the two of us in the middle, next to a large noisy group, we would never have been able to have a conversation with each other, As there was nothing else, we ate outside on the porch, It was fine, as the tables for two are by the railing with large bougainvilla trees next to them. The food, though is very good, as are the cocktails and the service. When they remodeled, they just should have made it more cosier.

Enjoyed lunch with my friend from Boston. Delightful day so we opted to sit at outside table. I selected the grilled tuna and cheese sandwich while my companion ordered the Caesar salad. Both entrees were tasty. Our server was very accommodating and attentive.

The food was prepared perfectly, and was very good. *They do not serve bread or salt/pepper/sweetness unless requested, which was fine; just a heads up.

There was a large, chatty/noisy group

* Service slow and because we wanted these things, and it was hard to catch our waiter’s attention. He was not assigned to large group.

Ate at Tangata after going to the Shackleton exhibition and seeing the rest of the museum. We chose 2:00 because we figured it would be less crowded. It was. It was also out of the wheat beer that was listed on the menu and the cabernet sauvignon that was listed. That said, I had the Little Gem Chicken Caesar Salad and my husband had the grilled Black Angus Beef Burger and we were very pleased with them.

The service was terrific, our waiter was professional and funny at the same time. The food was really my cup of tea: the portions were not huge (a good thing) and I love a good brunch menu. I had the huevos rancheros which were built on crispy tortillas and featured a not spicy, citrus tasting tomato salsa. I plan to go again.

The restaurant is great for dining during a day at the Bowers Museum. The food is always good and the place is very pretty. However, I've been there several times and each time the service was really not good...extremely slow. This past visit we had to keep flagging someone down for anything we needed since the waiter didn't check in with us at all, even though he kept walking by our table. On my last visit we waited over an hour for food and one member of our group had to leave before her lunch arrived. Someone went in the kitchen, and quickly boxed up her meal while she paid for it so she could go. Still...I would recommend Tangata for your day at the museum.

The food and service were very good. Ambiance is not so good. It is very noisy because the acoustics are terrible, not because it is a 'lively bar scene.'

After a visit to the Shackleton exhibit, our group of 9 had lunch in the museum restaurant. The convenience made it the logical choice. We made reservations through Open Table for 7 originally but our group expanded to 9. Open Table was unable to change the reservation to accommodate the additional guests but a call to the restaurant directly took care of that. They were very accommodating and willing to change the reservation. Menu had enough variety for everyone. The soup of the day (tomato) sounded great, but was a little watery and not much taste. We were given the brunch menu that offered lunch and breakfast selections. NIce afternoon with friends!

We have eaten at this restaurant several times in the past few years due to being at the Bowers Museum and our schedule for a lot of the museums events. However I find the service lacking in that we have had to wait several times for our food to come out when other people received there food before us when we had ordered before them. We did speak to the manager about this and were given some excuse and a free dessert. The waiter was not very informative with letting us know things that were not on the menu but were available as specials, he was very forgetful and we had to ask for things every step of the way. Additionally the tables are not cleaned off as often as they should be.

Tangata is a great lunch spot for central OF.
Nice atmosphere and not fast food. Its a nice little escape.
The potato soup is wonderful!
Bring a sweater, though. It can be a bit chilly.

My friend and I ordered ordered hamburgers-we asked that they be cooked to medium-well done. The table next to us was seated after we were, ordered after we did and received their food before we did. When our burgers arrived, they were seared on the outside and raw on the inside. Service was slow-we were not offered a refill on the coffee we had with our dessert. In spite of a 20% reduction in our bill, due to our complaint about the burger, we will not be returning to Tangata. We had an experience with slow/inept service prior to this trip...

I love Tangata. Every time I visit the Bowers Museum, I lunch at Tangata. Food and service are always too-notch. I ordered the garlic noodles with salmon, and the salmon was prepared exactly as ordered. An extra special thanks to Joey for going the extra mile with my parking validation!

Tangata consistently delivers original and tasty food, with polite servers, in a beautiful, hip setting. It's the best kept secret in town. I only wish the restaurant (and the museum its nestled in) were open more hours - it would be among my neighborhood go-to spots for dinner. It remains the perfect weekend lunch spot, especially on an uncharacteristically warm fall day.

After the meal, they brought a fantastic creme brulee for our friends' anniversary along with delicious coffee. Everyone agreed, a table full of foodies.

W e did not have a good experience at Tangata this Sunday. The restaurant was not particularly busy. We had reservations. We waited for over 45 minutes for simple rice orders to show up. When it finally showed up the noodles were cold, the burger was not cooked at desired doneness. Cheddar chees was requested on top of the burger and only when asked for the third time. They new that were going to the lecture. The manager and the waiter did not know how to handle the clients and the shop.

I was there for food tasting with a friend who was planning a luncheon for a group of 20. Twice we asked to speak to the Manager in charge - was told by the hostess that she couldn't locate the Manager. Prior to coming in person, my friend left messages to speak to someone; however no one returned her call. I guess they didn't want our business!

The lavendar creme brulee was, in the words of my world-traveler friend who lived for ten years in Kyrgystan and Kazakhstan, "the best I've had in my life." Both entrees were tasty, and the whole lunch, including wine, was quite reasonable for such an upscale restaurant.Patina Restaurant Group never disappoints!

The outdoor tables were dusty and exposed to the elements, and there were no placemats. Our cutlery was placed directly on the table. We asked if we could use our menus as placemats, but were told they were short of menus so that would not be possible. We then suggested that the waiter bring additional napkins to use as placemats, which he did.

Our food took over 45 minutes to reach us. We were told that the kitchen was busy. Our meals were pre-prepared pasta and a generic salad - no justification for such a delay. Food was ordinary, and wasn't worth $19 for a salad.

Our waiter was adequate, but his mood was more "it happens!" than apologetic.

I have enjoyed Tangata a great deal in the recent past and have had very positive experiences. Now, I am reluctant to return for a repeat of this experience.
