If you are celebrating a special occasion, we have two sizes of “Celebration Packages”, which include a cake and a small gift. Small cakes are suitable for parties up to five and large cakes are suitable for parties of six or more. The prices are $21.00 and $25.00. I was pleasantly surprised by Tanaka of Tokyo! The atmosphere was a little more upscale than your average Japanese restaurant, the staff were friendly and the Chef made sure everyone was having fun! The Wagyu Steak was presented with fanfare, that was deserving after tasting it! Well done Tanaka of Tokyo!

Nothing spectacular about this place. We had a reservation and waited about 10-15 minutes to be seated. I ordered a dry martini and it took a while to come out, our chef also took a while to come out. I have had better hibachi experiences.. this place is over hyped.

Order 2 Shogun The food and the performance was good If i choose Wagyu, it's an additional $30/person so I chose Fillet However, the payment amount was $60 more than the order amount I didn't know if it was wagyu or fillet this is business

Aloha, Thank you very much for dining with us, and for your kind comments that the food and the performance was good! We located your check with the 2 Shogun meals which came out to $159.00. Your party also ordered 2 Fried-Rice ($11.50), 1 Pina Colada ($16.00), and 1 Chi Chi ($16.00). The subtotal came out to $202.50, plus $9.54 for tax and $34.43 for tip. We are very sorry that we are confused by your comment that the payment amount was $60 more. We do not see any other charges on your bill except for what your party ordered. Our Shogun meal comes with a 5oz Filet, and there is an option to upgrade to an 8oz Wagyu Sirloin for $30, but there is no additional charge on your check. Sounds cliche but grew up going to Benihanas and can honestly say the portions are not half as big and is a little more pricey for mediocre quality teppanyaki. Seafood was fresh though, need better service.

The best Teppanyaki we’ve ever had! Our chef, Curtis, was fantastic — he has a clear passion for his work and cares about both the food quality and the entertainment. Melany was also a wonderful server. So attentive and kind. Would highly recommend this to any visitors to Honolulu!

Overpriced for the quality of food and drink we received, even when factoring in “paying for the experience”. Food took an exceptionally long time to reach the table and begin preparations. Area was poorly ventilated and Chef did not utilize fans to remove smoke. Not deserving of the title of #1 restaurant in Hawaii. May be nice for a large party or celebration, but not worth it otherwise.

It was a great experience because John was an amazing Teppanyaki master grill chef, and was full of very entertaining jokes. He was also very kind and patient with the baby that we had with us! Thank you, John! We’ve been to Teppanyaki around the world, and John was incredible but the rest of the experience was a little bit tough. The server seemed very new. She didn’t know the menu well. When I asked questions related to my allergies, she kept reading through the menu and didn’t go ask the manager if he could do the adjustment I was asking for. Then, she forgot to bring us the salad or miso. Lastly, she did try to rush us out offering to go boxes before we were half done with our entrées.

The food is good, not great. Our teppanyaki chef (I think his name was Micah) was really fun and interactive. He was a 5 star for sure. The wait for our check was longer than it should’ve been, but it was busy, and on the Fourth of July so that could be part of it. Everybody is incredibly nice. I really appreciate how friendly everybody is. It’s always a fun place to go, but you are partially paying for the fun aspect as opposed to the quality of the food. But again the food is good I just would not say it’s great.

Last year we felt this was the best meal we had from beginning to end. This year it was an even better experience. Food was superb. Service excellent. And overall atmosphere fun without giving up any of the professionalism that is required to deliver a customer focused experience. You would be missing a really wonderful meal and experience if you don’t try it out while in Waikiki! Love it so much. That we are booking again before we go home. This trip.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at a Tanaka of Tokyo that I used to go to all the time when I was growing up. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. For our main course, we had the Tanaka Sirloin and Filet. Both dishes were cooked perfectly and were full of flavor. We were also entertained by the Head Chef Christian, who was very talented, and he really added to the overall experience. Overall, we had a wonderful dining experience at Tanaka of Tokyo. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was perfect. We would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great dining experience in Hawaii!

The experience was overall not a bad one. We had a good time. I did think it was odd I wanted to upgrade a combo and willing to pay more and was told no. I asked again as server asked the manager who also said no. We had a party of 6 and spent a lot of money I still can’t comprehend telling a guest no. I work in the service industry myself and in 25 years I’ve never had a manager confirm a no to a guest request to spend more. The food was ok, they only serve sirloin wagyu and the meat was select grade. Overall ok and probably would have spent the 600$ with tip somewhere nicer.

Do not sit at a station near the back wall. There is no ventilation. Our eyes were still burning the next day. Also, they used so much butter…my stomach was a mess for a full 24 hours after dinner. Truly disappointing.
