When Surf & Sirloin opened its doors in 1994, owner Larry Karagiannis wanted to serve high quality steaks and fresh seafood at a reasonable price. As for the seafood, Surf & Sirloin has always acquired its fish whole so the product can be inspected on site to ensure quality and integrity. Many favorites include Jumbo Shrimp Tempura (made with REAL beer batter), seared Maine Sea Scallops, Scottish Salmon & oyster’s Rockefeller. For the steak eaters of the world, Surf & Sirloin offers a variety of different cuts. The tender Filet Mignon with classic Béarnaise is our most popular item but for those looking for more flavor; a hand- cut 14oz New York Strip or the 16oz Rib Eye is the way to go. For a mix of the two, go for the 22 ounce Porterhouse (The cut reserved for Kings). I

The atmosphere was ok... way to pricey. Our waiter was phenomenal which minimized the dissatisfaction of the seafood pasta I had but my husbands steak was delicious.

Steaks were cooked exactly as ordered, seafood was properly cooked, and sides were all fresh. Service was amazing, could not have asked for a better place for an anniversary dinner.

Always consistently great food and one of the few places you can go to for quiet conversation even when the place is full! Great ambiance and servers. Seafood always fresh and everything outstanding. Went with girlfriends to catch up with each other annd perfect for that! We didn’t have to scream at each other! Love that it is locally owned . Steaks are fantastic as well ! Best Caesar salad around! And Mayfair too!

Always a great meal with exceptional service and friendly staff. Probably one of the best steakhouses in St Louis you don’t hear about very often. Don’t let the simple name of this place fool you into thinking it doesn’t rank up their with the single-name, trendy places that pop up, burn hot, and then go out of business.

This family has been in the restaurant business for years and has a storied history in the St. Louis area. Ask about the restaurant’s name and you’ll understand its historical significance.

When in season, their crab legs are second to none. Their house made Mayfair Dressing is a true, St. Louis original. Steaks are always cooked to the right temperature and the sides are exceptional.

Their full bar doesn’t skimp either. Be sure to save room for their from-scratch dessert selections. You’ll definitely come back a second time.

We have been here before and the food was delicious Both times, especially the steaks. It wasn’t busy but service seemed a little off - server was fine but bar could not do some fairly popular drinks - Moscow mule or Maitai. Maybe good to try to update a bit - place was not busy for a weekend night and I’d like to keep this on our list for nice dinners.

We are regular customers. normally have not gotten the filet and lobster here but sounded good this time. The filet was really as good as I have ever had in any restaurant, in any city. The lobster was also very good.

The food is very good. The entrees come with a soup/salad and a side vegetable, which is nice (& unusual for a nicer restaurant). My sons enjoyed their meals (picky eaters).

The restaurant experience at Surf and Sirloin was very pleasant. We had a family of 6 people including two children under 12. The waiters were very nice and efficient. They answered all the questions we had , were very attentive and were very good with the children. The bread was delicious. Could have filled up on that alone. The salads were delicious with their Mayfair dressing or Caeser salad. Steaks and lobster tail were cooked to perfection. The salmon was very good as was the sliced tenderloin medallions. The kids had chicken strips and a hamburger, no complaints there either. All in all a great time, delicious food, not noisy at all and very welcoming atmosphere. We certainly will return for another meal.

The steak and trout entrees were very good. The escargot appetizer not so much. Interesting place, with good service and food, but not much ambiance for an expensive, upscale restaurant.

Our dinners were outstanding but they were preceeded by something really special, tableside prepared caesar salads! The wine list was expansive and the bread pudding unmatched. HIGHLY recommend Surf & Sirloin for any occasion, their food and service are unmatched!!

This was the absolute best dining experience we have had. My husband and I are new to St. Louis and spent our anniversary here for dinner. The saganaki was amazing, the salads were just the right size so you didn't get full, and the entrees were a great value for the amount of food. The owner even took time to sit and chat with us. All around great experience and we will definitely be choosing Surf and Sirloin over other resteraunts around us

Our service, as usual, was excellent. Our waiter guided us to daily specials and they were very good. Three of us enjoyed fresh halibut and the fourth diner enjoyed crab cakes. They are all crab, no filler!
We have never had a poor meal or bad service at Surf & Sirloin. We will return!

The young waiter or possibly be the owners kid was very rude and very pushy He could not handle the customers .You would of thought every seat was taken .Then it was the girl turn filled the water and tea up but no waiter to order anything . It took 2hours. before we said enough is enough. We left

Went on father day waited over 1 hour and a half for food. When food came it was Luke warm. Coffee was Luke warm. Slow refills disappearing waiter because of bad service. Today our friends who went also stated the cook quit. The kinddess thing would be tell the people your sorry and close the doors until you able to service properly. They made people wait and waste there time for poor service and cold food. One take away my husband said Salmon was the best he tasted.

Our waiter was great! Food tasted great. Definitely a more upscale restaurant, being more upscale, they were on the pricey side. I think we were the youngest couple in there...by almost 20yrs (we’re in our 40s). It was my birthday (noted in the reservation), the only acknowledgement was the hostess wished my spouse a happy bday. Lol. The bananas foster is table side, it was a great experience and tasted yummy!

We both wanted Halibut but they ran out. The server was very nice and helped me choose an alternative that was very good. We did find it a little noisier than normal, but there were families with children, so that is to be expected.
All in all, it was an enjoyable evening

There was only one other table when we were there. I order med the Steak & Lobster. Temp requested with steak was Med Rare and came out well done. The server took the steak back and brought out a blue rare steak about 10 minutes later. I am sure it is a great spot when it is busy but concerned about their ability to prepare a steak for the cost

Was seated behind the bar that was more like a storage area than a place to seat guests. the light above the table was burnt out and had water dripping out of it ( not kidding ), they did move us to another table which was better . At both tables combined we waited 30 minutes and never saw a waiter, didnt even get a drink order in, water and bread brought to table and thats it. We are a fairly laidback couple who don't need a lot of attention or to be pampered, but to wait 30 minutes without even ordering a drink was enough for us to get up and leave. Seemed mismanaged and chaotic atmosphere. Wont go back.

Over priced for a re-heated baked potatoe,potatoe and veggie were room temperature when delivered appetizer portion very tiny for the price. Main entree small for the price. Average restaurant with high priced meal without the high end food quality.

The owner came by to greet us and made recommendations. It had been awhile since we had been there but when we asked for something that was not on the menu, he said that he would see to it that we got it. When we asked for it by name he was impressed because it had not been called that particular name for over 20 years. Our server, who had been there for over 15 years had never heard it called that. Try the Saganaki. Fried goat cheese that has been battered and then flash fried at the table with garlic, lemon and brandy. The escargot in mushroom caps. Delightful. I won't give away the old name (keeping that a secret) but do ask for the stuffed fillet. Medium rare. You will NOT be disappointed.

If I had to guess the main problem was. Having our reservation for 4:30 on Easter. The chef was probably still at home with their family celebrating the day.
There were only a handful of customers in the restaurant. Two men had at our table had trout, my husband said his tasted like a piece of cardboard and the other gentleman didn’t complain but didn’t look that happy with his meal either.
I had the beef medallions. The green beans were delicious, the potato tasted boiled instead of baked and the beef was very chewy. The bread was warm and plentiful but the “butter” was not! I asked our waitress if they had a real butter and she brought me some. No restaurant worth it’s salt serves whatever that was instead of real butter.
I had suggested Surf and Surloin since we had previously eaten there on a busy evening and had enjoyed it so I felt bad that the meal was not up to our expectations.

Great place for a nice dinner. Good variety on the menu and they always have some good specials. Brothers Stavro and Harry do a great job of managing the restaurant.

My first time at Surf & Sirloin, and in fact, I had never heard of it until I saw a mention of it in an Open Table review. I was very impressed with the food and service. Getting a potato and vegetable with the entrée makes it a good bargain. I had the shrimp tempura, salad and bread pudding for desert, and all were excellent. Also, because of the small crowd, the place was quiet enough for conversation, something lacking in many restaurants today.

I think I would recommend other places before Surf & Sirloin. You spend over $100 on a meal for two and they don't even offer a free dessert for your 2 year anniversary. I'd rather go to Annie Guns and get the free dessert included. I'll take my services elsewhere.
