Was good. So good.
Excellent food. Great atmosphere. However, as I’ve come to experience, the service is not what it used to me. The bar tender didn’t know how to make a Negroni or a Hot Toddy, and needed to “look it up”. The server’s knowledge of the menu and wine was what I would expect from a typical city steakhouse, or a chain. The Sommelier was good, but we felt like everyone else was just “staffing” the place, not really “guiding” menu choices, etc. As I said, the food was very good, but I am an excellent orderer. ; ) All Broadmoor restaurants now automatically add 20% service charges whether service is good or not. And more often than not, it’s “not”. Overall, I’ll likely not be returning to the Broadmoor any time soon. There just isn’t anything there special enough to drop 400+ on dinner, or anything else.
Very accomodating, delicious and a special experience for us. Ordered Salmon wrapped in a thin slice of ham and sunchokes, they were amazing, cooked perfectly. Husband had Mole Chicken, delicious. Portions were generous. Sommelier was friendly and informative with some interesting choices new to us. Our favorite restaurant at The Broadmoor for sure and beyond!
Expensive but worth it
Unbelievable service! Food was amazing! My wife and I were taken care of during our experience at the Summit. The wait staff is second to none. Our server (Chris) was amazing. I recommend this establishment to everyone!
02 March 2020:
This is a review for my wife's and my visit to Summit Restaurant on Saturday, 29 February 2020. This was our 24th Anniversary Dinner, a Leap Day. We had been to Summit on several previous occasions and love the food and the atmosphere. On our last visit about a year ago, we were not as impressed with the way our food was prepared. We were then told that the restaurant had a new Master Chef. We had a similar experience on this most recent visit: My wife and I each ordered Hanger Steak with a request that mine be cooked WELL DONE throughout with NO PINK. When it arrived, it looked well done on the outside, but after slicing into it, the pink center revealed itself. To me it looked more like Medium Rare. I brought this to the attention of our server (Jessica), who apologized and offered to have it re-cooked, but we passed on the offer. As the meal progressed and more pink showed up, I became more dissatisfied. In addition, when we went to the Summit website, the Hanger Steak was listed at $19. But the price was almost doubled in price on the menu at $34. It was time to speak with a manager. Manager Valeria graciously listened to our issue, and without hesitating, removed the price of one steak from our tab. She apologized for the price increase and recounted that she hadn't seen the $19 price in quite some time. I then suggested that someone needed to update the website (Open Table Website or Summit Restaurant website ?) A nice surprise after the meal was a complimentary ice cream dish for two. These gestures restored our faith in the Summit Restaurant and we'll certainly visit for special occasions in the future.
Colorado Springs is a small town and has little in the way of fine dining. Not like New Orleans where every other restaurant seems to have some type of an award. The Summit is an oasis. I've been going to the Summit for years, but have never been welcomed as a regular until I started using OpenTable. I was able to list my preferences for seating and waiter. Valet service for the car, delightful hostesses at the front desk and a good table started off the evening. Our waitress, Carli was superb in that she was attentive, informative and could intuitively gauge that my friend and I were in for a long fun dinner with delicious food and wine. She presented lots of interruptions, ("excuse the interruption, but...."). In general, it is fine for the wait staff to stand near the table and be recognized, rather than interrupting the flow of conversation. The wine authority for the evening was Matthew who was particularly knowledgeable. Summit has an impressive wine list and he was proud to share. The dinner was very good. We both had the chicken dish, but were also considering the vegetarian sampler which sounded like a dream. I might also mention that they have a very nice seafood line up. For dessert, we shared the profiteroles and with the extra chocolate sauce, were a perfect way to end the meal. So happy with Carli, Matthew and the reception desk for making our dinner such a good one. Thank you!
Outstanding food. Service was excellent with friendly and efficient staff.
Excellent service, meeting all your needs. Food was excellent but for one dish that wasn’t made from scratch and not up to expectations. I addressed the issue with the maitre d’ and it was taken care of with class, no problem, no fuss. Everything else was great. The ambiance is nice and modern but acoustic is poor. Very noisy. Great place overall.
All-around outstanding meal at the Summit. Service was impeccable and the meal was amazing. Had a pretty loud table close to us so that was unfortunate but not their fault. Marked down one star on ambience because the view is not the best.
The staff was very helpful and friendly. The food was amazing and worth every penny. Definitely would visit again!
Summit was absolutely perfection! The food was impeccable and it has one of the best wine lists I have seen in a while, especially when it comes to Old World wines. We went there for Valentine's Day and could not have asked for a more perfect evening. The Salmon was out of this world and cooked to perfection!
The chef and his wonderful staff completely surpassed our wildest expectations.
Great place to spend a night with your spouse. Food is of the chart and variety and tastes are amazing.
Absolutely amazing food and service!
One of the best restaurants at the Broadmoor. Creative plates and excellent service. Super nice bar area also.
Exceptional service and delicious food. It’s pricey for a 2 course meal and dessert, but well worth it for a special occasion. Higher end restaurants can sometimes leave diners hungry, but my wife and I were very satisfied. Order one of their signature cocktails, they did not disappoint.
The Summit has a very cosmopolitan feel to go along with great menu selections. The staff was attentive and friendly. My new "go to" place to bring out of town guests.
We enjoyed our Colorado appreciation dining experience at Summit and look forward to another visit soon!
Excellent food and service! Would definitely return again.
Awesome food and service, great wine service.
Excellent meal and service.
A nice quiet time celebrating 39 years of marriage🥂
Recently had a client holiday appreciation dinner at the Summit, and had a great meal, with stellar service, in contemporary dining restaurant. Would highly recommend to my friends, family and coworkers.
We think of the Summit as our birthday/anniversary/feeling in need of pampering kind of place. You've never disappointed and I honestly don't know why we don't come more often. I feel like I want to become personal friends with your wine steward (sommelier)? She is so gracious and knowledgeable. So...here's to a dark , depressing March evening. Thanks.
Our food was average - too average for the high price. We love the Broadmoor, especially brunch at the Terrace Room. Sadly, our expectations were not met. The endive salad was a little soggy, My husband’s venison was tough, beyond medium rare (chefs choice). My halibut was good, but not outstanding. The bill was the only part of the meal that was outrageous.
We had a fabulous meal. Great food and awesome service! Christopher was so fun and helpful! Can’t wait to go back!!
Outstanding flavors in both of our dishes - Pork Belly and Halibut. Mussells app was fantastic - just ask waitress/waiter to separate the delicious broth into another bowl for dipping! Would order all dishes again! Modern and contempo design, excellent service, a little pricey, but expected. This was the last of the Broadmoor restaurants we hadn't tried yet - can't wait to return next year!! Completely our style!
Special time with our son John who is by himself moving into Fort Carson for his military service. A special time eating like the Pilgrims= Venison. Not our usual palate but was delightful.
The only negative to the entire evening was the number of crying infants; one in a hanging high chair attached to the table next to us. I understand that you can not control ignorant people. Perhaps on the slower evenings you could seat parties with infants in the private dinning room away from the guests that wish to enjoy a romantic dinner, have a conversation, and not have to speak over crying babies.
While I am aware of the published dress code not only for the Summit but for all public areas on the property, I wish you could train staff to enforce the code to the enjoyment of everyone.
Totally changed the menu. Will not go back.
Hard to find a consistently good restaurant in Colorado Springs. Had not been there for 2yrs as the last time the meal was mediocre and the restaurant unkempt. Food selection was good and our meals were quite appetizing. Wine list is over priced with few if any wines under $50. Much cleaner look to the facility this time. Service was excellent. Will consider returning.
We had a nice experience. To their credit they changed the menu the prior day and it was their first day serving the new menu options. Not our best experience we had had at the Summit.
Very solid service and wonderful ambiance. I have been there several times and wish that the food would be as good as the service.
Tasty food and excellent service. I eat Keto and my dining companion eats gluten free. We were both well fed.
We came into the restaurant specifically for Vegan Restaurant Week. I was pleasantly surprised with the food and the wine pairing. It was much better than our last experience (over 5 years ago), enough so that we will be back again. The flavors and creativity of the four courses intrigued my palette. I'm inspired to try a few of these at home now.
We had a great time, as a family, celebrating our daughters birthday. Everyone at the Summit was nice, helpful, and were real (not a fake personality). We enjoyed the atmosphere & the variety of food.
Mainly regarding the noise level. Its not energetic at all. IT Was to loud not a good or even great atmosphere. You cant here the people at your own table talking because the bouncing of the other voices in the restaurant.
I Highly recommend to install sound reduction panels. I wound spend my money there again unless this is done.
Fabulous meal with wonderful staff. Excellent wine list and knowledgeable staff. Seasonally wonderful and eclectic menu. Definitely will return to enjoy its offering.
Jessica our waitress was very friendly and engaging. Also a Midwest gal as we are from the Midwest. The food was good and appealing to the eye. My wife loves "Good & Quality" food. Places like this are rarely in our budget, but as we were celebrating our 7 year anniversary we splurged.
Also, another waiter (male) whose name I don't recall stopped and picked up our plates and asked about the food. During the conversation he mentioned the bone in pork chop was one of his favorites. So we are enticed to come back when we can splurge again. Thank you
