   Very nice restaurant in a nice setting. The dining area is divided into rooms. We had a party of four in our room that was rather loud, as opposed to the other, more sedate, diners there; we felt like we knew them when we were done. But our waiter was very good, attentive and courteous, and our meals were very good as well. A gem of a restaurant in the area there.

   Dining experience was terrible. - Took 40 minutes to be seated with a reservation - Waiter forgot to bring us menus; we had to get the menu ourselves - Waiter forgot to bring silverware for the table - Restaurant owner’s children were running around the restaurant during our dinner and made for an awful atmosphere. - Food took forever to come out - Only one waiter on staff during dinner - Waiter did not offer refills - Took 2.5 hours for dinner due to only one waiter on staff, very poor service.    Went there for Mother's Day, Restaurant did not have my Open Table reservation and did not have another customer's Open Table reservation who came in at the same time.Apparently owners gets the notification and fails to tell the receptionist. Food was very good, but expensive.

   Summit wasn't prepared with our reservation through Open Table, from the link on Summit's website. We were seated outside on the covered porch, next to those waiting to be seated inside. Our reservation wasn't much of a reservation, as they scrambled to create a table for us upon arrival. Food was good. Service was slow. 2 hours for the entire meal. I had to go inside to ask for the check. It appeared that they were low on staffing. 2 kids, probably the owners, were running around the porch and outside area for a portion of the meal. Not too distracting, but also not what I'd call fine dining worthy of a reservation.

   This was overall an awful experience. They advertised lobster bisque and it was 100% tomato soup. The filet was not a filet mignon. It was a dry, over cooked piece of roast with no seasoning or flavor. The crab cakes were corn bread muffins with a few pieces of crab meat…also extremely dry & over cooked. Not to mention, they don’t have a system set up for Open Table so they didn’t even have us down for a reservation. It was a $50/person charge for Mother’s Day that we didn’t know about until we got there. Then!!!! When I got the bill for 6 people, the automatic 20% tip was added to the tax!!!!!! Oh. It took over an hour to get our food and close to 30 minutes just to get the water after we sat down. But if you like little kids running around the restaurant because they live there then you’ll love it!!! Huge thumbs down from us.

   Prefixed menu and they ran of of one course completely and options on another course. Steaks were not cooked correctly and crab cakes were dry.

   Grateful to find last minute reservation on graduation day. Not happy to arrive and be surprised to find out the menu was limited to a few items and fixed price at $65 per person. This should be communicated up front. Service was good though and it was nice to be together.

    We got there and found they did not have their regular menu and were only doing a very expensive fixed menu. That was not indicated when I made the reservation so we left and didn’t eat there. Restaurant was almost empty so it seems others may have had a similar reaction. Place was pretty and the staff seemed very nice.

    It is important to read the whole review to understand giving this three stars. I knew this was an old Victorian house which I found interesting but I did not expect flickering lights throughout the meal and wobbly chairs to go with the decor. We are a younger couple at almost 40 years old but the atmosphere was for folks 55+. We felt like we had to whisper. The staff had a uniqueness to them as well. They did call me earlier this day to tell me they had a fixed menu for the evening which I thought was nice but limited the menu. All three of us ended up getting the filet which was delicious. My husband did not care for the soup but the salads were good. The key lime pie was ehh but the chocolate cake and limoncello cake were good. Lastly, which would have been good to know ahead of time, is they are beer and wine only and some of the wine can be very pricey. I was looking for that martini so it did throw me off a little. So overall, food was really good, atmosphere- not our thing, and can be on the pricier side.

    Food is outstanding. My husband preferred his ribeye at the Summit over the Farmhouse. More servers are needed. While service was good, it was very slow. Overall, would return.

    Has to be the best restaurant in town! Crab cakes appetizer outstanding with its piquant sauce, lots of flavor and choice in the salads, wish they weren’t out of the apple soup (soup and salad included with your entre), encrusted fish fillet was generous and delicately cooked but I should have ordered my lamb medium instead of med-rare for more tenderness. The interior of this Victorian mansion has been lovingly restored. In warm weather the porch and garden will be inviting, too. Our waiter treated us like a guest at her home. All together what an unexpected gem of a stop along I-81. We’ll be back next trip.

    No complaints with the server - she was absolutely friendly. Our issue was the time from being seated to getting appetizers and ultimately entrees was over 2 hours. A couple next to us had a formal event to attend and asked for their entrees to go and get their check and still waited 20 minutes to get boxes and their check because, per their server, there was a party of 17 that they were splitting check. We were preparing to leave when entrees started to arrive. Our server informed us that there was only one chef in the kitchen working by himself and that they had 80 seats and the chef wanted everything made to order. The food we ordered was very good but not worth the wait. As a restaurant owner I would never take a party of 17 plus additional tables with only one person in the kitchen. Again, the server was very nice, the food was very good, but the wait was beyond unacceptable.

    Our party of five had a great experience. The food was great we all had different selections and each and everyone enjoyed them. If you are a dessert person leave room for that because the Creme Brule was great along with the key lime pie which I had.

    If I’m going to a “fine dining” restaurant I was expecting way better. It took 20 min to get a table when I had a registration prior and plenty of tables were open. The “bread” that was given were frozen rolls from Walmart. The mashed potatoes were obviously from a box. The “red wine sauce” was regular beef gravy. The electricity went out halfway through my meal. Lastly there were little kids running around playing IN THE RESTAURANT. I’m not a picky person by no means, but when I’m spending over 100$ on a 2 person meal I expect a way better experience.

    Other reviewers have said the restaurant appears run down. I found it charming. The atmosphere was hushed and dim. The service was impeccable. We were seated immediately and attended to regularly. Our waitress went above and beyond with a couple special requests. Her recommendations were great. We had the fried oysters, harvest salad, apple rutabaga bisque, grouper entree, and one of the chicken entrees. Everything was fresh, correct in temperature and cooking, and delicious. Pricing was appropriate. Even the coffee was very good!

    The New Year's Eve dinner menu at The Summit was preset. It included soup or salad, entree, and dessert at a cost of $53. The dinner was delicious and atmosphere was very pleasant. The Summit is a diamond in the rough of the New River Valley.

    Thought we would try something different for a date night. Overall, a 3-star rating seems fair. Food was ok, we had the NY Strip and the Italian Angel, nothing to write home about, excessive sauce on the pasta, Apple Rutabaga soup was amazing. Service was slow, we had 5pm reservations and only 1 of 2 customers in the restaurant. The waiter discussed the "experience" of dining with them. However, we didn't experience anything you wouldn't get at a chain restaurant, other than the quiet. Prices were a high for the quality of food delivered. We could take it or leave it, probably wouldn't visit again.

    Delay after delay after delay. We were not seated until an hour after we arrived for our reservation - following our instigating with the staff to convert an unseated table for five into a table to seat the six in our party. Had to push to receive bread. Had to ask for our salads/soup. Entrees arrived in stages of 15 minutes apart. A 6:30 pm reservation resulted in a stay until 9:30 pm - DO NOT go to this restaurant / they are understaffed and do not manage their capacity to match their resources / both wait and cook staff.     The restaurant is in an old house that could be a fabulous experience but it just comes across as sorta creepy. Needs to be maintained do you don’t feel like your dining in a haunted house. Service was very slow and everything seemed unorganized.

    A perfect evening in every way. We especially loved that we didn’t feel rushed while enjoying a beautiful well prepared meal with a friend we had not seen for a while. Our server was lovely- friendly and attentive to our needs without being interruptive.

    They did not note our reservation. When we got there, they said they didn’t have our reservation. I brought up the confirmation from OpenTable, and they said they must’ve not put it down and that they didn’t have any tables. They told us we might be able to come back 2 1/2 hours later and there might be a table then. I think the thing that bothers me the most was that there was no apology or attempt to rectify the situation.

    Took daughter out for parents weekend. Their systems are all still on paper so couldn’t find open table reservation. Server was ok and honest about dishes. Good was heavily salted. Oyster Rockefeller did not have great oysters. Lots of sauces on everything.

    Finished moving our sophomore daughter into Virginia Tech and we had found this place when looking to make reservations and what a find! Are we definitely consider ourselves to be foodies from New Jersey and this did not disappoint. Everything was amazing and the service was impeccable but for less than we have rang up in bills around the area on previous move-ins…. Our server Jerry was top notch and we would love to thank her again for a great meal and a great experience!
