Very pleasant dinner on outdoor patio in front of a quaint home given the pandemic. Server was very pleasant and attentive. The food was delicious with nice presentation.
These 5 star reviews must be fake. This place is absolutely disgusting. The owners should be embarrassed. The entire place needs to be cleaned and the food is bad beyond words. Everything is covered in heavy sauce to cover for the chef's incompetence. I ordered Filet Mignon medium rare and received a grizzled cut of meat that was inedible... Definitely was not Filet Mignon. It was also served well done. Our waitress was the only positive. She was very attentive and helped get us get through our horrible meal very quickly.
Our 3rd-4th time to dine at the Summit. Each time seems to better than the last. Highly recommend the Summit for any occasion. Staff very accommodating and attentive, not pesky and/or hovering. Food always cooked to perfection. We like to sit on the porch in the evening but have also been inside. So glad to have the Summit as a place for fine dining.
We sat outside in the gazebo. Service and food was great!!
Father’s Day dinner. The food and service was impeccable. Thank you.
Wonderful food! My parents and my husband and I were celebrating and the food was absolutely delicious!
Food was good but service not good and too expensive weird atmosphere
Will not be returning. Before the day of the reservation the restaurant called me to ask if I would change my reservation to accommodate other guests. I found that incredibly rude and unprofessional since I had made the reservation over 1 week in advance. When we arrived there was no organization: the hostess was explaining to guests, while her shirt was unbuttoned and tie only half on, that no one would help her and the servers only look out for themselves. Then they did not have our reservation written down so they sat us reluctantly. Upon seating was when they announced the price of a fixed course meal, which had never before been announced, publicized, etc. We felt obligated to do it because there was no other option and it was Valentines Day so no other restaurants nearby would be able to accommodate such a late reservation. Each part of the meal came out 30-40 minutes after the previous. Getting our wine took 45 minutes itself. The whole dinner took 3 hours and was average at best. My filet mignon was almost completely filled with fat, after it had very clearly been ignored in the kitchen because it came out to the table cold. We couldn’t even let our server know or ask her to cook my date’s steak more, because it was on the rare side of medium rare, due to the fact that she disappeared and did not return for 20 minutes. We would have to say the best part of the meal was the dessert but then again it seemed like it was probably prepared by the local grocery store. Overall, the service, quality of food, and lack of professionalism did not match the absurd prices they were asking. The experience they created was worth $50, not the almost $200 we spent. As previously stated, we will never be returning.
This is a very nice setting. It was a slow night, not their fault. My wife had a chicken dish that was very good. I had the filet, and I could not eat it. It was either very old, or freezer burned. We will try it once more.
Delicious shrimp cocktail. Tender flavorful steak. Best dinner rolls anywhere around. Brittany was our server and she was over the top terrific.
Had a wonderful time. Food was out of this world. Had a great conversation with another set of patrons. Just a fantastic time.
I was looking forward to this Christmas lunch but the entire time I sensed that my presence was an inconvenience to the waitress because I was just a party of one, instead of being a large party.
Excellent selection for a holiday meal. The food was outstanding!
Service was great! Everything came out quickly for the high quality of presentation and amount of work it must have taken. The food was presented beautifully, and everyone was very friendly. A truly wonderful experience.
Had a great dinner for daughter's graduation. The service, food and atmosphere made for a perfect dinner.
The fireplace made for a romantic atmosphere. I think seating could be a bit better as far as setting up a room for couples only. This way conversation is more low key coming from other tables. There are a few rooms. Our room had a table of 4 next to us and then room for a larger group. We really enjoyed the stuffed mushroom appetizer. I ordered crab cakes and my husband ordered the grouper with crab. It was tasty and the portions were generous. My only feedback would be easy on the green onions in the crab cakes. Overall a good meal.
This was a very important date I wanted to enjoy with my family. The noise was loud and the service was bad. It took us over and hour just to get our salads. During that time we had to chase down the waitress just to get our drinks refilled. Because it took so long to get our food, one of our guest had to leave before he could eat, very uncomfortable. My mom is elderly and she was very tired before we could get her home. It was not a good experience like we were expecting.
Very disappointed with this restaurant. Servers seemed overwhelmed, disorganized and confused upon arrival of our party of 4. All of our entrees arrived cold. We complained to the waitress who only provided excuses that they were short staffed that evening but did nothing to remedy the situation. Overall a poor dining experience . Overpriced as well. Will not be going back.
Pros - food was good
Cons - place is not being upkept. The lights randomly turning on and off in dining room, chairs that sink in middle and so uncomfortable that even my 18 year old complained, kitchen Leuver door falling hall off, and outside deck - old, rickety and covered in leaves - ever where people are dining. Just looks like no one cares.
Service - meh. They were short staffed. Our server was kind but a mess. She was sweating to death, and seemed totally frazzled and unable to focus because of it. We waited over an hour for salad. We got wrong wine - we ordered Cab - got Chardonnay. We had to order twice. They lost our order. Then we had wrong entrees delivered and returned and finally our ownfood after being there over 1.5 hours.
I had crab cake entree and soup. Both great
My husband and son had salad and filet
We all were sort of shocked to enjoy the food.
Seems like the chef knows what he is doing even the the rest of the place is in decline.
Very good menu range, and excellent food. Service was attentive but not obtrusive. Victorian surroundings.
Really enjoyed celebrating our birthday at The Summit. The food and presentation was Top Shelf.
We each had a different entree and all were so good. This is the only Fine Dining in our area.
My fiancé and I went to The Summit last week and everything was prepared to perfection! This restaurant has a romantic victorian vibe so if you’re looking for a date night meal this is great!
Food was very good. While the young lady waiting on us was very nice the service was extremely slow.
We were there for a total of 3 hours.
Wonderful experience. The food, service, and ambiance were all excellent. We definetly will return. Highly recommend for an upscale dining experience.
One of the hidden gems of the NRV. The food is out of this world delicious. Best crab cakes i've had since moving here. You must try the food at this place.
We went for my husbands 30th birthday. We were a little disappointed as we were so excited to try this neat looking place. We are new to the area but also realize it is a small town. The house was neat, a little messy in the back. The inside was neat too but the service after we sat down wasn’t the greatest, our waitress was sweet and very respectful but my water glass was empty for about 15 minutes, my husband wanted beer and they were out of half if their selection (not an exaggeration), for $30 a plate the tastes and flavors were mediocre, one would expect a higher quality food.
Felt like we were in a European restaurant instead of Christiansburg, Virginia; service was excellent, food was fantastic (3 courses) and the ambiance was exactly right.
The service was good. The restuarant is run down and the food was sub par. I ordered the shrimp and scallop pasta. The sauce was ok and the shrimp were good but the scallops were terrible. I cook with fresh ingredients on a daily basis, I did not feel like fresh ingredients are being used and all items are completely over priced.
They did not have record of my reservation but were able to seat us anyways. The dining areas are small and not very intimate, we were a few feet from a large party of other diners who were somewhat noisy. It sounded like someone with rambunctious noisy children lived on the second floor so were heard squealing and loud running above us the entire time. That being said the food was was excellent and our server was great. I would go back again but maybe dine on the patio.
We didn’t eat there because they said they never received our reservation. DONT USE OPEN TABLE TO BOOK!!!!!
Great old house and setting but from the time we drove up it was clear they weren't ready for customers. Debris and cleaning equipment were scattered about what could have been a beautiful patio. Inside, the house could have been beautiful but restoration was poor. Our table was next to a larger table that sat unclear for most of our meal. Other tables in the room were unset and pushed in the corner making it more like eating in a dirty store room than fine dining. Our server was very friendly but not attentive and the table wasnt set. Soup and salad were good, crab cakes were good, sides were good. My steak was tepid, overdone, and dry. Not good. Disappointing as this could be a wonderful restaurant.
We were not in the reservation book when we arrived. However, plenty of seating at that time of day. I did receive e-receipt and points from OpenTable afterwards nonetheless. Service was subpar (we have been to this restaurant before with better waitperson). Food was excellent. Nice dining experience in old Victorian house.
Lovely atmosphere and very formal in decor. Entrees were good. Chocolate cake dessert was dry. Shrimp cocktail was mediocre. Service was slow and we were left for long periods with no service. Despite that, I recommend this for holidays.
Summit is always a great date place, very quiet, excellent food, good service.
Food was great, Staff superb, Seating elegant. Location easy to find and to quaint old building.
Amazing food, wonderful service! The reservation was not downloaded from open table but this time of the year they are not too busy so they sat us immediately. I can't wait for spring to eat outside on the patio.
I had one of the finest dining experiences of my life at the Summit. The dining rooms are beautiful. The music was appropriate. The friendly and professional service was outstanding. I have never had a more artfully plated meal. It was just gorgeous. My entree of lobster and shrimp over risotto was sublime. I wish I could tell the chef how much I appreciated his talent and skill at his craft.
I love the food and everything about it. I particularly like the fact that it isn't a loud restaurant. So many restaurants have the music so loud that you can't have a conversation. Also, the food never disappoints me.
The ambiance was nice but the tables were too close together, we felt like we were dining with strangers. I like more separation than that. The waitress was attentive, but didn’t hover. The food was extremely disappointing. I ordered the chicken and shrimp. My husband the veal. The presentation was nice, but that’s about it. The food was bland and lukewarm. Some bites were even cool. It may have been the dishes we ordered, but we disliked them enough to not want to go back and try anything else. We’ve been to this restaurant before, many years ago when it first opened, and the food was exceptional then. Not sure what happened, but we will never go back.
