Enjoyed our meal as always! Drinks were great and our steaks were cooked to perfection! Our server Shelby did an exceptional job. She was personable and efficient. I always look forward to a night out at Sullivan's and have never had a bad experience!
A little slow but amazing food worth waiting.
Excellent choice for dinner. Bone in Wagyu NY Strip was perfectly cooked, sides and appetizers were prepared well. The brussels sprout side could have been seared harder but that is my preference might not have been the intention of the chef. Very good wine list and reasonably priced if you are looking for something in the $100-$200 price range. We started with a Flowers Pinot Noir and finished with Stag's Leap Petite Syrah. Awesome that the vintages weren't last year or 2018 for those choices as a little time in the bottle is warranted. Our server was great but there were some others having a conversation near our table that should not have happened on the floor. Great experience overall will definitely go back when I am in Kansas City.
Great service. A little pricey with everything being ala carte. Special occasion dining unless cost isn't an issue.
Very good food and great service. There was plexiglas between the booths so that certainly added to comfort level. I had the Filet and it was outstanding, as were the Brussels Sprouts. I found the green salad a bit ordinary for my taste, though. The eggroll appetizers were wonderful!
We dine at Sullivans at least once a year for birthdays or anniversaries. The only disappointment this time was that there was no bread. We did however get rose petals on our table for our anniversary.
Always wonderful in all respects! One of our favorite restaurants!
always a great place to have dinner with friends.
Outstanding service and food was prepared to perfection.
Outside looks run down... seems like $70 per steak could afford some upkeep.
I opted for a favorite of mine- French Dip sandwich. It was subpar & difficult to eat. Fries were less than average & seemed like a frozen fry.
I had never been before but I booked a table for our anniversary. We were seated in a quiet corner table and had unexpected rose petals and a personalized card from the Sullivan staff. Great customer experience, great management check up and knowledgeable wait staff. Excellent food and has passed up another local favorite hot spot just from this one visit. We will be back and glad to see that some things are not lost with customer service here.
Love this place! Food is always amazing and the service is great too!
Excellent food, drinks and service
Family 21st Birthday Celebration
The staff is friendly and attentive. We ate outside, where it was beautiful. One of my daughter’s had a burger that was extremely dry. My other daughter had a ribeye that was also very dry. We ate at Happy Hour, ordered two apps, along with two meals, a deliciously lobster bisque, one glass of wine, the girls had waters, and my bill was $168. (That’s including tip).
Thought it would be better. Not too impressed. Maybe a bad day.
Perfect place for special occasions. They made our 40th anniversary magical.
The salad and bread was good. However, for the price, the salmon and 3 little asparagus sticks were all dried up. At least the happy hour wine was a good value and not over priced like most of the wine. I hope the happy hour menu comes back in the future.
The food is always exceptional. The service is excellent....order ribeye and filet
Cooked to perfection.....
My husband had the Wagu steak and I had a soup and salad and it all was delicious. It was our anniversary and we got a lovely card signed by the staff and their AWESOME key lime pie. The waitress was amazing. So sweet and knowledgeable! Our new favorite place.
Anniversary dinner. They had rose pedals and a card for us at the table. Wait staff excellent. Our waiter recommended a great wine to go with our meal.
We had not been here in a very long time and went to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Food, service, ambiance were outstanding. We will be back!
If you want delicious food and impeccable service then this is the place. We dine here 2 to 3 times a year and are never disappointed. When booking our table we ask to be seated in John’s section. He remembers everything we like from the drinks to how we like our steaks cooked. My husband had one of the specials which was a filet with lobster and it was cooked perfectly. I had the crab cakes and they were delicious without any heavy filling or breading. Try the blueberry lemon martini too! It was a perfect evening and we’ll be back again soon.
Best bday celebration dinner ever
Mixed review. My husband and I had our anniversary dinner here last night. The service was great, but I was very disappointed in my dinner. My husband loved his steak and mashed potatoes. However, I had ordered the 8oz. Filet and and for an additional $11 dollars upgraded it to Oscar style. The filet itself was good and cooked perfectly, but it was the Oscar part of it that was so disappointing. It was supposed to be a filet, topped with a crab cake, asparagus and hollandaise sauce. There was not even a teaspoon of sauce that was on the bottom of the steak, two asparagus spears on each side of the steak, and what appeared to be dried out canned crab meat heated up and sprinkled on top. Totally dried out, tasteless and not appetizing to say the least. So if you want a delicious Filet Oscar, I would absolutely go somewhere else like J. Gilberts, The Bristol or Marina Grog and Galley, but sorry to say the marina is permanently closed :-(
We arrived a little early for our 6:00 reservation, and since it was our anniversary, we asked for a private table. We were seated pretty much right in the middle of a mostly empty restaurant. It wasn't a big deal when we were seated, because the place was empty, but by the end of our dining experience there were a lot of people around us. We could have let that slide, but...
The wine list was not extensive. My wife likes a sweeter red wine, and she had only 2 or 3 to choose from. On the positive side, the server gave her a taste of each wine she wanted to try. We ordered the Lump Crab Cake for an appetizer. It was good. All the food was good. My wife got a filet with shrimp and scallops, and it was all cooked perfectly. I ordered the bone-in filet, again cooked just right. We shared the family-style lobster Mac-n-cheese and the Brussel sprouts. Even though the server said the Brussel sprouts were the most popular thing on the Sides menu, I wouldn't order them again. They needed something - salt, a sweet, something - they were essentially flavorless. I mentioned that Craisons would be good in it. The lobster Mac-n-cheese had some lobster sprinkled on top, but it wasn't mixed in like we've had at other restaurants. It was okay. My bone-in filet had some unusual spice on it - we think it was cinnamon, because my wife said the flavor of the meat reminded her of cinnamon roll. It was okay, but I wouldn't want it again.
My main take-away is that the whole experience was good, maybe even very good, but for what we paid it should have been exemplary. We're not strangers to fine dining, and we like to try different places (hence why we were at Sullivan's for the first time). But, I could list 10 places in Kansas City where I would have spent less and had a better experience and food that would have knocked it out of the park.
They tried hard, and the server was great, but in my opinion the food was only a bit above average and way overpriced.
Great food and environment. Server was great. Only downfall was that you allow people to smoke on the patio. That tends to take away from the ambiance. It’s hard to social distance yourself from cigar smoke.
Fabulous way to hv a covid beautiful birthday party in the private room. We all loved everything we Preffered.
Birthday dinner food food and excellent service.
Glad they’ve reopened, our new waitress was very sweet and patient and I hope she loves her new job
The restaurant followed all of the protocols to keep us safe from the virus and gave us a safe and pleasant experience. Kudos to them for their efforts and for excellent food and service.
Food tasted great, would definitely return.
Very good service, the restaurant was very quiet and they recognized that it was a special occasion for us and looked after us really well
We were overcharged multiple times.. that was annoying..it wasn't able to be corrected which was a lie..
The food is always delicious at Sullivan's and service is terrific. This is why we return. The prices are very high, but we feel it's worth it.
I have never had a bad steak here - it's always tender and cooked exactly as I like it. The service is impeccable and personable. The only thing I wasn't happy with on our last visit was the roasted brussels sprouts. Apparently, they were shredded as I didn't even see an actual sprout. That being said, everything else that our party of four ate was perfect.
Everything over the top, would not hesitate to make this my weekly stop.
