From the OpenTable editors: Originally from Torreon, Mexico, Eater Austin’s 2018 chef of the year and 2024 James Beard semifinalist Fermín Núñez celebrates his passion for handmade masa at Suerte. It’s the foundation for tacos, tostadas, and more stuffed with everything from duck carnitas to goat barbacoa and drizzled with a host of salsas. The food and drinks here were all stellar -- definitely a culinary standout in East Austin. The service could have been better. We had a party of 8 people and most of us had not been to Suerte before. The wait staff didn't assist with ordering accurate amounts of food which was a pain considering the menu is all family style dishes. Some recommendations on menu items and quantities would have been welcome. Some of the portions here are on the small side but overall the value is good for how delicious everything was.

First time at Suerte and had a great time for our one year anniversary. Good noise volume in the restaurant, the table for two was a little too small for all the things we were ordering, LOVED the tuna appetizer and smoked goat barbacoa was to die for. Would go back for the tres leches cake again and again! Overall positive sentiment!

Great food, when you are not a big eater take 3 plates + desert. Or if you do not love dessert. Take the ceviche + Tuna+ Suadero Tacos, these are the best. Our weather Maggie was very good + funny. She is a star.

Food is consistently interesting and amazing. Staff is attentive and helpful. Love the ambiance and design. They have done a fair bit on noise abatement, but it’s still loud so if you have any hearing issues just know you might need to adjust accordingly.
