   Story has been a favorite dining spot of ours for years, and we had a gift certificate from a friend that we were holding for a special occasion. For my husband, that meant getting the email alert that they had halibut on the menu. We waited for the warmest day this week and enjoyed our meals. In fact, their ceviche is my favorite menu item, and somehow it seemed even more wonderful this time. Top marks to the new lemon layer cake with honey ice cream, too.

   Story is always delightful. Especially enjoy Wednesday fried chicken night! But, lobster tagliatelle is a showstopper as well. The salads are always good. I enjoyed the donuts and a decaf coffee for an after dinner treat.

   First time there. Won't be the last. The food was fantastic. The service was excellent. A restaurant that actually trains their wait staff properly. The wine selection was a little pricey, but the bottle we had was delicious.

   We’ve only been in KC for two years and have been to everyone of the top rated restaurants, and this has quickly turned into our go to. The food is consistently great!

   Great food and service. Place was completely dead by 8:30 on a Friday night and we were rushed out, lights off at 9:00. The French place across the street was still packed at 9.

   Absolutely delicious with a relaxing & calm atmosphere. I’m a vegetarian so the waiter suggested an alternative dish for me. It was wonderful! 10/10 and we’ll be back!

    It’s my favorite restaurant in KC. Just go and get a cocktail and an appetizer if you are on the fence about spending the extra money on a nice dinner. I personally would not go to anywhere else in Story’s price range, I’ve only ever been comparatively disappointed in every aspect.

    The food was amazing so we will definitely be back. The tagliatelle and empanadas were so light with tons of great flavor- highly recommend! The bread was amazing, we took home a loaf :) Maria, our server, was very knowledgeable and personable. The only thing I didn’t love was how crowded and loud it was, but a reservation a little later, probably 8 wouldn’t have that same crazy feel. Overall my husband and I had a great time, and as I said, we’ll be back!

    Chef added pork belly to menu, yes it may be a guy thing, but absolutely delicious. Very lean and tender with just the right amount of fat. Halibut delicious as well. Waitress very attentive and helpful. 5 stars all the way

    Quiet and lovely, nice but not necessarily fancy. Food was delicious and portions were appropriate for the price. Wine by the glass was a good selection and well priced. Would love to return!

    Went there for the Valentine’s Day 5 course. Food was good. Spent over $600 for two people and went home hungry on top of that. I mean $600 for a two hour meal. Should have been at least half of that. Sour taste in my mouth about Story now.

    Story was great. There were five in our party and everyone loved their food. I had chicken that was some of the freshest and most tender I've ever had. Great value and great staff. We will go back to try other dishes!

    First time at Story and it did not disappoint. Fried chicken with green beans, bread pudding and parmesan gravy was excellent. Our server, Rob, was attentive and a pleasure to talk to. We will be back.

    Simply wonderful. 5 newbies, of the party of 7, who have never happened upon Story. They were also very pleased with the look and feel of Story. Admittedly, I have bragged about “Fried Chicken Night” and we all ordered the fried chicken. No one was disappointed !! While 7 women of a certain age may look daunting, our wait staff person, Jeremy, was undaunted! He had to deal with a few “what did you say” and “i don’t think my hearing aid is working” but he smiled and carried on. Everyone loved the food and atmosphere! I look forward to more evenings at Story!

    We were celebrating our 18th anniversary at Story and could not have selected a better restaurant to enjoy the occasion. This was during restaurant week and we had an early dinner reservation. The ambience of Story is both comfortable and chic without being ostentatious. if there is a better preparation of a beef rib in the KC area, I don’t know where it would be. And, astoundingly I had the pleasure of eating the best onion rings of my life. That may seem trivial but it was totally an incredible accompaniment to the beef rib. Caesar salad was crisp and delicious. The dessert donuts with a lovely dipping cream was sublime. Selection of wine choices were very good. Our waiter was professional and pleasant. This was our first time dining at Story and without a doubt will be back soon.

    Wow! Every item was served to perfection. The lobster tagliatelle, my Caesar, the salmon and my fave, the lemon cake. Scrumptious! My Old Fashion was the finest I’ve had in a long time.Service was wonderful.
