Although I live just three minutes from the restaurant, I'd never visited til Saturday evening. What a delightful experience. I didn't even feel like I was in a KC restaurant -- more like a sophisticated, stylish Chicago establishment. I let the waiter choose for me and he made great selections, including a nice wine. Happy to have STORY in my 'hood and can't say enough great things. Put this on your MUST visit list next time you're in the Prairie Village area! FIVE STARS
The food was absolutely phenomenal... every single dish. Our waiter was very professional. What we learned tonight is that we shouldn't have waited so long to go back to Story. They are easily in our top 5 restaurants.
Loved 'taco nite' -- should be a regular event! Think everyone would enjoy that.

We had only the special and it was ample and delicious: salmon, motel sauce, fingerling, spinach and fennel. We especially liked the fennel. We were placed in our preferred seating in the back, where it's quiet. Service was exemplary. We eat at Story frequently and are never disappointed.
Generally very good. No value wines offered. Comfortable, casual neighborhood setting. Seafood choices most often very well prepared. Sunday Night specials are especially attractive.

We had not been to Story in a few years and we are glad we returned. I had the swordfish and was very impressed. Three others had the halibut and were equally impressed. Our server was patient with us as we took our time and enjoyed the experience. We’ll definitely be back.
We attended a Wine Dinner at Story. It was a fun event. Beautiful restaurant. Not a warm and welcoming feel but food and drinks are wonderful.
The food is always amazing. The $10 Sunday special is a great way to try this place. They also have a great happy hour that u can make reservations for.

The food and service were very delicious and perfect, as always. Dining on Story’s patio is a true luxury experience. Greenery, a light breeze, and you feel like you are on vacation.

Our favorite "go to" restaurant in Kansas City for special occasions and this was indeed a very special
occasion, our golden wedding anniversary. They provided us with a nice window table for two and assigned
Rebecca as our waitress. She excelled in every way; polite, friendly, respectful and so fastidious. My wife hoped they would have a soft shell crab entree and she wasn't disappointed. Our caesar salad and the doughnuts for dessert were excellent as always. Thanks so much for a most memorable evening!
Story never disappoints. The food is phenomenal, and every bite is layered. The presentation is beautiful. I highly recommend.

We had a wonderful anniversary dinner.
We sat outside during the Art fair and it was a wonderful experience. The manager that night went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of and that speaks volumes. We had the halibut and short ribs, both were wonderful. Will be back soon!
We made reservations to celebrate our wedding anniversary and noted it on our reservation.
It took 45 minutes to get our appetizers. The asparagus soup was weak and the ceviche was okay, overpowered by the lime.
The beer selection was poor for such a “quality” restaurant. The beer the server suggested tasted nothing like his description. I sent it back but was charged for that beer I never drank.
Dinner was served a hour after we ordered.
The dinner was overpriced.
We “sorta” got an apology from our server and someone in a suit, possibly a manager, said they were sorry, but that was it.
We will NEVER go back and will tell our friends to stay away.
We arrived early for our 7:30pm reservation but were seated quickly on the outdoor patio area anyway. The setting was nice, not overly crowded and our server was great and very prompt. Very nice experience.
The Halibut was excellent. Shared 4 desserts which were also delicious. Service was great!! Perfect dinner with friends.
Fantastic meal as usual! The short Rib and halibut are delicious no matter when you dine at Story!
For the first time, we found the place where we normally sit too noisy to even hear each other. It wasn't Storyy's fault. A party of four nearby were extraordinarily loud. We want to thank Murray for moving us to another place, which was a mild improvement, then ultimately outdoors on what was a perfect evening to be there. We each had the $38 pride fixe; my salad and halibut are my favorite meals at Story. Rex's short ribs, not so much. The server was very helpful.
Story's rendition of soft shell crab is superior to any--including on Chesapeake Bay itself!
We had an exceptional evening at Story! The service was excellent. We enjoyed the Tasting Menu with each course paired with a wonderful wine. It was the perfect way to celebrate a birthday.
Everything was lovely, the food was amazing and the service was excellent. Would definitely recommend for a special occasion or just to have a really nice date night.
We have always enjoyed the food at Story but sadly think this restaurant is on the way out. Wine pours and food portions are small and pricey. We were nearly the only table.
I loved my halibut. Wish I could make it so well. I would also like the recipe for the dressing on the green salad, which I have every time! My husband and I share the dessert of ice cream and sorbets. Given that this was Mother's Day dinner and the restaurant was packed, we thought the service was efficient and personable. We enjoyed chatting with Murray. Thanks for a nice evening.
We like Story, been many times, but this was not a good experience for Mother’s Day. We were seated 30 mins late for our reservation and the food took an EXTRAORDINARY long time to come.
Mother’s Day was not a good day to eat at this place. It took too long to be served even though we made a reservation at 5pm...
We did a new pre fix menu with wine pairings. Great wine choices to go with the food. Great menu

Wonderful as always
This was the worse experience ever for the Cinco de Mayo dinner. We had made a request for the special shrimp tacos in advance. We got in to a super noisy place and were told that they were out of shrimp tacos. This place is super expensive (rated the most expensive restaurant in the KC area), very noisy, with cramped up seating and very sub par service. The food portions are such that unless you want to spend 300$ on a dinner for 2 , you should eat and go. The only reason why we have been going to this place is that we did find some of the food very tasty. I guess we won't be parting with any more money, for sub par service and tiny portions of tasty food in a noisy restaurant.
