   Utterly Disappointed – A Birthday Celebration Gone Wrong at Sticks’n’Sushi Kingston We’ve been loyal fans of Sticks’n’Sushi for years. Our daughter, now seven, loves sushi and chose to celebrate her birthday at your restaurant. We usually visit the Wimbledon branch, where the food and service are always exceptional. We’ve also enjoyed visits to the King’s Road and Copenhagen locations. This time, we tried the Kingston branch for the first time—and sadly, it was our worst experience ever. When booking through the app, I stated clearly it was our daughter’s birthday. Yet despite the birthday flag on our table, she received no acknowledgement, while two other tables with flags received cakes with sparklers. Try explaining that to a seven-year-old who had been looking forward to this night all week. It was hurtful and embarrassing. The food was also shockingly subpar. The salmon sushi roll didn’t taste fresh and was removed from the bill after we complained. The cauliflower was swimming in oil, and the chicken balls—usually a family favourite—were greasy and unpleasant. We’ve had these dishes many times at other branches and they’ve always been fantastic. Not this time. The ambience was cold, the service was inattentive, and overall the experience fell well below the high standard we expect from the brand. We left feeling upset and disappointed, and questioning whether we would return to any Sticks’n’Sushi again. That should never be the outcome of a birthday celebration at a restaurant we once loved. Kingston has badly let down the brand. We sincerely hope this is addressed.

   I’ve been to Kingston sticks and sushi many times before and this was my worst experience ever! Waited more than one hour for the food, and then I chose the Green Keeper menu, and after some of the food was delivered I had to wait again more than 30 minutes for the veggie sticks that were part of the set menu. The waiter totally forgot about us It was my birthday and I had my children with me. The experience was not nice at all. The manager came and apologise, as so as another waiter that was actually much more professional. We were at the restaurant from 7:10pm until 9:40pm. A very long time for only 3 people. The manager at least deducted some items from my bill as a service recovery.

   Was brilliant. We were in a rush so did not stick around long. Food exceptional as always. Service was quick. Job done.

   A great restaurant with excellent service and excellent food. We were a family of 4 celebrating a birthday, with two sushi and two non sushi eaters. One of our party was also GF. Our waitress was very knowledgable and questioned whether traces were OK and informed my daughter accordingly of what she could and couldn’t eat. There was something for everyone and both cooked food and sushi were all fabulous. When the food was delivered the waiter described everything that was served in detail making it feel like a 5 star experience. I’ll definitely return but next time be less greedy then it will cost less! It’s easy to eat more than you need because everything looks so good! We didn’t order dessert but because I’d noted via open table that it was my daughter’s birthday they brought her a little birthday treat. All in all an excellent experience.
