Starlite Ratings and Reviews
Everything was outstanding! We visited Starlite the night of our wedding to have a quiet dinner before our reception and it was perfect. The food was delicious (he got the steak, I got a lasagna special) and they greeted us with free champagne! Perfect night!
Everything was great, the service, the cocktails, the appetizers and the dessert but don't order the veggie burger, it was hard as a rock but they were nice enough to discount our bill and even brought us a complimentary dessert.
I would definitely go again, especially for happy hour. It's a rare find and the decor reminds me of somewhere cool like West-Hollywood or San Francisco.
This restaurant was a great find. It offers a great ambiance indoors but if you're looking for a more casual spot, the back dining space works perfectly. Few restaurants can pull off that type of accommodation on such a wide spectrum. The staff were attentive and offered candid feedback. Starlite also has great crafted cocktails that pair up nicely with their menu items. Give it a try, you won't regret it.
We planned a last minute birthday party here, and even though we could only reserve a table for 10, the staff was very accomodating with late arriving guests. I was a little dismayed the patio bar closed while we were there. The main bar was slow to acknowledge us when we moved from the patio, but a few of us stayed for a few more drinks and ended up closing the place down. Overall pretty great experience.
We were four people, out for a birthday dinner. I've been to Starlite several times and have always liked it. This time, though, I thought my meal (mako shark) was only average. The meat was dry and fairly tasteless, and it came on a bed of some kind of veggie material which was a little spicy but all right. My companions had the mac'n'cheese, which looked unappetizing (though he didn't complain), and the steak, which was described merely as OK. I have to report that the food was a disappointment this time. However the servers were great, and brought a nice ice cream birthday dessert. They got my cocktail exactly right. I still like the place, and I hope our experience doesn't represent a trend. In the future I will probably stick with the chicken or the burger, both of which I liked a lot on previous visits.
The place is sexy. Dimly lit, beautiful people everywhere, gotta love it.
Delicious fish of the day, which happened to be shark.
Can't go wrong with the ice cream sandwich for dessert.
Prices are definitely not cheap.
I believe it's a 21+ restaurant, as I had my ID checked at the door. Leave your kids at home because this place is for grown folks only.
Happy hour is until 7pm if you can make it there by then.
There is valet parking available. The area definitely requires a little extra effort to park, as the residents nearby hate you, even if you did nothing wrong when parking near their driveway without blocking their way. But yeah, there's street parking available.
One of my favorite places to go for a quiet, cozy night out. Sometimes the place does get packed with guests and the noise level increases, but thanks to the low light and casual atmosphere, it's never overwhelming.
The staff is awesome and prompt, the drinks are fantastic, and the food is spectacular. The new chef is proving herself a force to be reckoned with, and I am eager to see what new and amazing meals I get to experience at Starlite.
Keep up the quality and we'll keep coming back.
Four of us ate at Starlite after walking the Rock 'N' Roll 1/2 marathon. The place was almost empty, which is what we hoped. We picked the restaurant for the local, organic, etc. food, because we like to eat that way. We were not disappointed. Although the menu was relatively limited, everything -- stone fruit salad, mac & cheese, mussels, burger, steak -- was fresh, nicely presented and delicious, delicious, delicious. The service was great. We had a wonderful evening.
STARLITE is one of my favorite places to go to dinner and get drinks. The Mules are SPECTACULAR and the cookie sandwich is a must for dessert. This is truly a hidden gem, the ambiance, decor, and staff are truly amazing! One of my favorite and musts places in SD.
I love the food at Starlight. I've had most things on their menu and never disappointed. The chicken is the best I've had anywhere. It's in a lemoney jus that makes everything so moist and tasty. The burger is also one of the best anywhere. I actually prefer it to Hodads. The bartenders make great cocktails. The only downside to this restaurant is the fact that it is actually a bar. No windows. Very dark. And if you want quite, don't go here.
