Spectacular service, food, ambiance, and quality. We celebrated as a group of four a birthday for my spouse. From the initial welcome and greeting to Spruce to our tasty manhattans and scotch beverages, we felt at home. Our menu consisted of various salads, all to everyone's liking and then an intermezzo of pasta with shaved truffles (a rare treat). Our entrees consisted of duck (scrumptious per my guest's comments), salmon (wonderful by myself and another guest), and a steak which was done to perfection, juicy, tender, and cooked to a perfect medium-rare! Our desserts were delicious, with the beignets and lemon tarts.
The service was absolutely spot on and impeccable starting with our server Leah and then our sommelier, Catherine was perfect with the selection of white wines to accompany the salmon and the red wines to accompany the duck and steak.
Always an excellent meal with very attentive service.
Spruce did SUCH a nice job for my girl friend's Birthday. From the Birthday card on the table, to the gorgeous dessert with "Happy Birthday" written on the plate and the waiter beautifully singing "Happy Birthday to you" to her. She had never been to Spruce before and was blown away. Thank you for helping me celebrate her!
Pricey dinner, but worth it. The food was delicious and perfectly prepared. The drinks were great, and the service was impeccable. Spruce is sort of a splurge restaurant, but again, well worth it.
During my group’s first visit to Spruce, we all were favorably impressed. From attentive servers in the bar to thoughtful wine & food staff, we enjoyed the food & settled in to a memorable evening. Be warned, it is expensive—$225 per person, but we added all the whistles & bells.
Amazing food and meticulous service!
This was one of the best experiences we have had in years! Basically a perfect dining experience!
Terrific staff front the front desk who changed our initial table seating on request to the table crew.
Importantly, staff not stuffy yet maintained a professionalism at all levels. Very attentive & accommodating. A definite special occasion locale or just a nice neighborhood site to stop-in for a drink.
Consistently achieves high standards for preparation of the food. Staff handles all matters in a professional manner. Seating arrangement is capacious.
Please keep background music low. I come for the food and service, but also Spruce is where I can enjoy conversing with my friends.
Food was great and service was excellent as well.
Service is one of the best in SF.
This remains an exceptional restaurant. Service was impeccable but not flawless. I had two appetizers: sunchoke veloute and gem lettuce. Both were wonderful. I had raviolo for an entree and baked Alaska for dessert. Exceptional all around.
We got stuck in outside space with cold draft every time curtain opened by waiting staff. NOT good
Sat in the bar, but had access to the full menu. Food was delicious and the service was fantastic.
Awesome service from start to finish! Excellent food.
Wonderful on every level. A true dining experience.
Too bad about the music which is totally unsuitable to the level of quality of the food and service. It's Spotify hard rock which is just not in keeping with all else.
The service was impeccable, the food was fantastic the atmosphere was very nice.
We celebrated our 35 anniversary they went the extra mile even did a chocalate congratulations on a plate with a treat.
Remy is an extraordinary server
Dinner with friends on a Saturday night. Had some friends up from the peninsula for dinner at Spruce. The wife said she thought she was in New York, "...didn't know they had restaurants like this in San Francisco". Service was attentive and not intrusive. Wine list is a bit overwhelming. We had the sommelier to help us, recommended a bottle of Pinot Noir from Oregon, we enjoyed two bottles. The main courses were outstanding everyone (there were four of us) had something different were all served at the same time. Food was prepared so nicely, salads, mains were amazing. Desserts were another highlight, the baked Alaska was lit at the table. When was the last time you had baked Alaska? I have to say we have dined at Spruce over the years and it keeps getting better! Highly recommended.
Server was short with us and did not explain the brunch menu. We were seated near the "cafe" door and there was an uncomfortable draft that prompted me to wear my jacket the entire time.
We live in Napa Valley and our kids live and work in San Francisco so we eat out at some pretty amazing spots. Spruce was the best dining experience we have had in years! The food was incredible. We all had specials of the night. My son had venison paired with a Cabernet and he didn’t want the meal to end. He savored every bite! I had pork tenderloins wrapped in bacon: perfection. Others had the sea bass and we all loved each dish. The service is incredible, attentive and kind. We felt pampered. Definitely worth a visit.
I had the most amazing experience. I’ve dined at Spruce several times now but this time was by far my favorite. I had the burger which was absolute perfection and our server Rueben was truly amazing. He was thoughtful, attentive, and genuine; and definitely enhanced our overall dining experience aka my birthday! Thanks again for everything, Spruce! We will be back!
Just the best. The food is always great and service outstanding.
We dine out very often in SF and this was truly an exceptional dining experience. The food was delicious and presentation very impressive. The service was extremely professional and outstanding.
Very stuffy. This is where old people eat. The food was objectively good, but nothing very imaginative nor special.
Spruce is our go to restaurant for a meal we can count on and relax at. Everyone is so attentive and kind there, but the food is always delicious. We had muscles, and the hamburger.
The waitstaff at Spruce was excellent!
There was a card at our table when we arrived wishing us a Happy Anniversary. 💕
What a wonderful restaurant for a special occasion!
Great service, excellent food. Will be back soon
The food was only mediocre, nothing special for the price. I used to love this place, but something has changed.
Great ambience, food, and great company with my lovely wife.
Lovely food excellent service.
Fantastic, innovative food with outstanding service standards makes this a memorable restaurant for any special occasion or simply lunch with friends in an intimate setting. Well done!
Just wonderful. The staff was very attentive and the food was great.
Great lunch. Would go back.
Great place with excellent service! The food and drinks were exceptional. I love the ambiance and modern design of the restaurant as well.
Spruce is a very consistent experience. Always enjoy having a meal at Spruce for whatever the occasion may be. Saturday night did not disappoint. The almond-crusted Turbot special was just that special. Love having such excellent food as part of the choices within SF.
Thank you for joining us at Spruce and taking the time to leave us a review. We hope to see you again soon! - Hadley, General Manager
Everything perfect from beginning to end
Another fabulous evening at Spruce. It’s our “go to” place to celebrate special occasions!
