Great evening all around with good food and attentive service.
Great food and great service!
Beautiful experience: great cocktails with expansive wine list, impeccably prepared food, extremely attentive staff, ambience perfect for a special occasion or a romantic evening, and kudos to Jessica who provided wonderful service with warmth, great timing and helpful explanations of the menu.
I will not be going back after the awful table service Jessica B.
Overview of dinner
1. Brought water
2. Jessica B disappeared for 15 minutes
3. Jessica B appears and asks if we are ready to order
4. Wife says "Not really can you tell us how it works we have never been here?"
5. Jessica B "what do you mean"
6. Me "can you tell us about the menu?"
7. Speed reads with no eye contact through the menu and specials
8. Sommelier - super helpful and awesome, great wine rec.
9. First Course - no sign of Jessica B
10. Second Course - - no sign of Jessica B
11. Third Course - no sign of Jessica B
12. Check arrives at the table Jessica B does not ask how the food was, or even if we wanted anything else, the check is just placed on the table.
13. Jessica is talking at another table bringing them espresso's
14. I grab Sommelier and say our waitress just dropped off the check without asking if we were done or wanted some drinks and coffee.
15. Coffees and Amaro's come
16. Jessica Returns "are you done now?"
F- this place. I can't believe the lack of service at a place your spending at least a minimum of $300 bucks bill was $450 for two.
Appetizers were average
Entrees were exceptional
Deserts were average
Service the worst I've ever had in 13 years of living in San Francisco
Totally sucked. What a BUMMER! don't waste your money
Fabulous service- really. Food was quite good and the ambiance was lovely.
Food was good. Service was unfortunately terrible.
Wonderful pre-Father’s Day brunch. The pre-fix brunch menu was amazing. All of the staff was great. Thank you for a lovely afternoon.
Amazing food, fabulous service and such a treat to be back in the City!!!
Great restaurant. We were outdoors, parklet was very well done. Food was excellent. I had the duck, others in the petty had pork chop and chicken. All were wins. Lowlight was the block forest cake (beignets were much better).
Will return - and will dress up more. Old school SF vibe, lots of suits and blazers, ala Kokkari.
Overall enjoyed the meal and atmosphere at Spruce. Positives: excellent starters - very fresh and enjoyable. Mid course pasta with truffles was simple but delicious. Two out of our three mains were excellent (wagyu and lobster pasta). Duck was only so-so. Needs work: The wine service was slow (20 minutes + before our first sip), we were also served the wrong entree (duck instead of pork). Desserts were average. Would suggest a cheese course alternative to sweets for the final course.
Annual shared birthday with my granddaughter.
It never fails!
Great food, great service, great ambience!
I went there with my boyfriend to celebrate my birthday and they made it super special for me!
The food was absolutely delicious!
Worst meal and experience in years, stunning really.
The food here is always superb. We had vegetable soup, agnolotti, salmon, pork, creme caramel and beignets, and everything was terrific. Service is very attentive. My only complaint is the music: why does a high-end restaurant insist on playing any music at all, much less the pop stuff they play?
I’ve been coming to Spruce for over 12 years and always had wonderful service, beautiful food and a feeling that my money was well spent. Tonight we dropped close to $300 on burgers and drinks. Not the first time this has happened, the difference is that in the past I’ve left feeling wonderful about my whole Spruce experience. This time I actually feel ill. The burgers were over cooked and mealy, not once but twice. And while the service is attentive snd attempts were made to to rectify the situation, the experience and especially the food was not up to Spruce par. Spruce has always been a sure bet for extraordinary food and service and I have never flinched at paying my bill.. Tonight I have such a bad taste in my mouth, both figuratively and physically that I doubt I will be spending my money there any time soon.
The food was amazing. I am vegan and gthey accommodated me perfectly. The service was outstanding.
Good food, left with a full belly. the A5 supplement was delicious! cocktails are unique.
The outside set up is particularly well done and wine list and wines by the glass outstanding. The service was a bit officious which is unusual although the server and sommelier very friendly without being obtrusive. Empty plates are cleared efficiently and water glasses are kept full. The taste from the chef was odd and lack luster. A leaf I could not identify was served with a butter and anchovy-that I did not taste at it’s tip. The burrata, beet appetizer was delicious. The agnolotti pasta dish was very good although a little salty. The first pasta did not come to the table hot, but even after eating a portion of it the server graciously and without hesitation offered us a new order which came out of the kitchen perfectly hot. The salmon with artichoke was very good but much to salty. Desserts are always wonderful especially the luscious-always piping hot beignets. The largest negative was the over use of salt and the in our opinion inappropriate choice of music. 70’s into the 80’s music which could have been turned now several notches. Carol King, The Kinks and McCartney's Band on the Run might (might) be fun, but in a different setting.
Great ambiance, great food, excellent service and a great location. I've heard a lot of good things about it, and yet it still lived up to the hype.
Phenomenal food, wine list, cocktails and service. This was the perfect place to celebrate our anniversary - highly recommend for special occasions.
My husband and I came back to Spruce after a disappointing experience 2 months ago (the food was great, but not the service).
This time the whole experience was outstanding! Which confirms that the previous time was just an accident.
Full disclosure we were offered a gift card as an apology for our previous experience, a gesture we really appreciated.
The food was just like it has always been every time we’ve eaten at Spruce: the foie gras was a delight, the mi-cuit salmon exquisite, the pastrami sandwich delicious, and the Dungeness crab roll as tasty as usual (the brioche is exceptional!).
Not to forget a brand new desert on the menu: a revisited Black Forest where each layer is as subtle and delightful as the one next to it.
We also recommend the Spruce goose, a flavorful cocktail that perfectly balances various liquors (vodka-calvados-brandy).
Finally, the service was impeccable.
What a blast!
One of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had
Delicious prix fixe menu. Ootstanding service in every regard. Great to be back inside one of SF's finest.
Such a treat to eat with friends again! The plating is so attractive and adds to the taste experience. Each course was perfect.
The servers were so attentive and helpful with suggestions when asked. They made our evening so enjoyable.
It's a really nice restaurant to meet friends, to enjoy the food in a relaxed atmosphere.
In my view, one of if not the BEST restaurants in SF
Food is very good. Well managed. Personable staff. Has become one of our "go to' SF restaurants.
I was surprised that the lunch menu is the same as the dinner menu and just as expensive.
First time dining at Spruce. Food and service were excellent. Wonderful special occasion place.
The staff was great in explaining the menu and service was good
First visit and it was a great experience! Can't wait to go again!
In one word: ME-DI-O-CRE!
One Michelin star too many! Honestly.
The service was intermittent. The food was not warm, The food was perfectly OK, and unnecessarily expensive.
We will not be going back. Thank you very much.
Always a very very special experience. Food, service and ambience all come together in perfect harmony.
Great food and wine! Lovely service
I was the first customer served at the bar and I had an amazing bartender/waiter who made my meal an experience! I half joked that he should recommend my meal as it was his "last meal" and he delivered. Plus the wine pairing was spot on!
Really love this restaurant though my entree last time was only good and not great. I had salmon with roasted potatoes and artichoke hearts but the salmon was pretty ordinary though cooked well, the potatoes could have used another 5 minutes of cooking and the artichoke hearts were a little on the salty side. Everything else, including my husband’s entree, was exceptional.
Waited for 30 minutes to get drinks but looked like they were short staffed. Food was good.
An amazing dinning experience, an excellent wine selection and food was incredible. It was an all together great experience.
Wonderful birthday dinner! Started off a bit wet as an unexpected waterfall splashed on half the party but the rest of the meal was fantastic.
