Spinasse in Capitol Hill is one of the best fork-up-your-money Italian restaurants in Seattle.

Ratings 9.0-9.8:If the 8.5-9.0s are the restaurants you’ll frequent for more than just special occasions, the 9.0-9.8s are the all time great restaurants of their city. Restaurants that will be around 20 years from now, assuming the Earth is still around.

The food was fantastic, and our server was helpful and knowledgeable about the menu and helped us to decide. This is a great splurge for a special occasion, and the wine was delicious also.

Such a disappointment. Was looking forward to this meal after recommendations from friends and excellent reviews, but food was bland, menu limited and service very slow. Mediocre at best.

The service was really really slow, which was likely a backup in the kitchen but the server never acknowledged it. I hate when they act like there is nothing wrong when you have waited over an hour for pasta. Otherwise, the pappardelle was excellent and so were the asparagus - cooked perfectly.

Exceptional understated service w/ delicious food in a refined cozy neighborhood feeling restaurant. Wonderful homemade-pasta dishes (hand cut by Jose). The restaurant is well run with all the staff working together to deliver a great dining experience, but it is done subtly. We will return again! Thank you for giving us a great evening.

Best authentic Italian in Seattle. I reccomend the tasting menu even though the last time we were there we ordered directly from the menu. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu! It is just the tasting gets you a sampling from everything on the menu which is always a fun experience. We will be back soon.

Food was decent. Service outstanding. Portions minuscule.
Overpriced indeed for the portion size. Seriously.

They are known for their sage butter pasta but I must say Cafe Juanita does it better. However, the crespelle appetizer at Spinasse is remarkable. So good. And something as simple as the butter they use on their bread--quite tasty. Their freebie bread appetizers are tasty and appreciated. The only downside was the parking situation is not ideal. Lots of spaces are blocked by construction barriers. If you live in the area, it's definitely a neighborhood gem.

Great service from an attentive waitress! Came for the Tajarin with butter and sage and ended up getting both the butter and sage & the Ragu. Highly recommend both but the Tajarin w/ Ragu was incredible!

AMAZING! Loved our server, Bertram, the ambiance, the cocktails and ... THE FOOD! Hands down, best meal I've had in a very long time. Definitely get the baby artichokes, both of the tajarins are a must have and my steak was to die for!!!

Our favorite restaurant in Seattle. For special occasions or a great night out this is the place to dine. The food is spectacular and the service always spot on. We have been dining at Spinasse since they opened in 2008 and every single meal has been spectacular.

Food was great. Pretty expensive. Thee was a moment where the waitresses changed shifts where she told the surrounding tables that someone else would be serving them but didn’t tell us whether she was staying with us or not. As far as lights go, everything was pretty dim, but it was nice-ish, but it was a candle lit setting and still pretty good. I like the idea of actual towels in the bathroom. Even though the table was reserved, when we showed up the table that was supposedly reserved was connected to another couples table, where the waitress then asked us if we didn’t mind sitting there still. We told her we’d like to be separated from them so she moved the table over almost a foot away from the other couple. Tables in the area are a little cramped. Place and food still great though. Drinks are also overpriced for such a small amount.

Took my mom, niece and niece’s boyfriend for dinner. “Italian” to my mom means Olive Garden; and my niece and her boyfriend were visiting from Texas; so I was a bit worried Spinasse might be a bit overwhelming for them. However, every dish was completely devoured and appreciated... The sage butter pasta is so freaking amazing!! The waitstaff was so approachable and kind.. They answered our questions with good humor and great knowledge of the food and wine. The Rhubarb Semi-Freddo dessert was perfect. Reservations here need to be made well in advance, and it’s by no means inexpensive; but it’s such a great place on all levels - it’s definitely worth the wait and the price!

What a gem! I had reserved at Spinasse for a meal during a business trip in Seattle and it was hands down my favorite find of the trip. The pasta was excellent, I highly recommand the butter sage pasta which we were not ordering but did get at our server's suggestion. Friendly and attentive service. Great location as well, in a quiet neighborhood away from the craziness of downtown.

Service best I have had in a long time, former fine dining waiter talking here: Attentive, distinctive; excellent cocktail. Got special treat from chef, mid course, which was even modified and brought back because my guest does not like anxhovie... Food was carefully prepared, spare, casual environment, great for intimate chat. Great, direct flavors, textures, a real Seattle jewel!

Loved the neighborhood feel of Spinasse. The Pea Salad appetizer was amazing, so light and bright. The Sage and Butter pasta was very good, although I felt the sage overpowered the dish. Overall, very good. Not mind blowing, but very good.

The food was OK. The service was cold and unfriendly. No butter or oil with bread, no small plate for bread. The price is high for the amenities: uneven wood table, no table cloth. We were not hungry so we took small portions, but the waiter kept asking if we had enough food like as we should have ordered to large portion. The other guy that brought the desert menu, no greeting, he dropped the menu on the table ...

I love this restaurant. Great environment. Great wines. Great ingredients. The servers are fabulous. Very knowledgeable, invested and interested. A really good experience. Sit at the bar if you get the chance. Watching pasta being made is mesmeric.

I cannot say enough about how absolutely terrific this restaurant was. The chef's tasting menu was astounding. The flavors and execution were on par with the best meals I have ever enjoyed anywhere. Thank you to chef and kitchen staff for turning out spectacular dishes. I can't wait to return and experience a meal with you again.
