With Spartina, Melrose finally got what it always needed. A neighborhood pasta joint that never takes itself too seriously.
Spartina has it all. Great location. Cool, inviting room. Inspired cuisine. Fresh, delicious ingredients. Friendly service. I can't recommend it enough.
Great service and food
Average food, mediocre service. Shame because I live locally and wanted to like it. Won't be back.
Good food, but we had terrible service. I would not recommend unless you feel like being treated like a second class citizen. We clearly weren’t hip enough for this place.
Very nice neighborhood restaurant. Prices are a little high. But a very good place to eat
Great place to have a wonderful meal with family & friends.
Very friendly service, always attentive while not being pushy or hovering. The pasta is amazing. The tortellini was a favorite among our group. I enjoyed the carbonara very much.
Have had the pleasure of dining at Spartina now a number of times. Always delicious! Can't wait for our next visit.
Very nice restaurant, food was terrific. We went back two nights later, not disappointed.
This was one of the worst dining experiences. They didn’t tell us when we sat down that their kitchen closed half an hour later. They told us we could stay however long we wanted. However they hovered over us and rushed us through dinner and kicked us out… And we were with friends we haven’t seen in a long time. In the future they should’ve let us know that the kitchen closed at nine. And that we wouldn’t be allowed to stay before we sat down. Also if they wanted us to be relaxed and enjoyed dinner the attitude could’ve been much friendlier. I rarely ever leave a negative review but this is worth knowing.
First time and met up with other foodie types for 11am Sunday brunch. They had me at "squash blossom" appetizer. (Something seasonal I'm so obsessed with friends and I ordered 3x in Livorno, Italy!) But seriously, lovely room with a huge patio for outside seating. The service was warm and impeccable. And the food was very well prepared. We couldn't figure out why the place wasn't packed, giving the lovely breakfast+lunch menu at reasonable prices.
The food wasn’t worth the price. There are much much much better restaurants than this place. But the ambiance was nice
Really enjoyed the food, service and atmosphere. One of the best Italian restaurants in LA. Try the panna cotta it is spectacular!
My most favorite Italian restaurant in Los Angeles.
Sat outside on a Fri nite in May. A little chilly, but thats May-gray for ya. Not a great view from outside. I could see the CVS across Melrose so yeah, maybe inside next time. And there will be a next time because they had the BEST CARBONARA EVER!!!. Also tried the Tortelloni stuffed with short rib in brown butter and sage. Also V good and filling. Appetizers are a bit overpriced and uneven. Stick wth the $6. Clark St. bread with ricotta drizzled with avocado oil honey - seriously good - and enuf for 2 easy. Overall a nice find in the middle of all the Melrose crazypants.
I live very close to Spartina but I wouldn't go back over and over again unless I really liked it, which I do. The food is always great and so are the service and ambience. I particularly like the outdoor area.
Spartina was amazing! We picked it after browsing through a few menus on Open Table--we are regular visitors to LA and our son lives there, so we know some (if not many) local restaurants. The food was innovative but authentic with loads of vegetarian options and some very intriguing and adventurous dishes as well. The service was excellent, and I can full recommend the stuffed zucchini flowers, the grilled avocado (as the hostess, who is Italian, pointed out to me, one of the few items on the menu with its roots in California and not Italy), the ravioli with peas, the linguine (or spaghetti) with black garlic, and much more. Oh and the walnut pie with maple gelato. We'll be back!
Food and Service we excellent as always! We had brunch and the avocado toast is to die for as well as their Florentine eggs and polenta is a must try.
Spartina is a great spot to catch up with a friend. It is approachable but also lends for a dressed-up-kind-of-night. The outdoor patio adorned in string lights and large potted plants offers a charming atmosphere that delights and calms the senses.
The octopus is delicious. Great drinks and atmosphere.
Best spot in town.
Really enjoyed the experience. The food was delicious and inventive. The service was quite efficient and warm. Conversation was easy because we ate inside and most of the customers were outside.
Spartina does not disappoint! I have been impressed each time I've visited. The menu is outstanding and the service was on point! I truly enjoy this restaurant and will visit more often.
Delicious Italian restaurant with great cocktails and very attentive service. Burrata appetizer and garlic pasta were fantastic. Lovely ambiance in the outdoor patio is great for for group dining as well as date night. Would definitely go back.
Service was amazing!!! We loved our waiter and food was great!
Very nice food good
A really wonderful restaurant with great food, casual but elegant ambiance. I would highly recommend.
I come down from San Francisco 3 or 4 times a year. While I'm always trying new restaurants, I make a point of ALWAYS hitting Spartina one night each trip. They just get it ALL right. Everyone is so professional, skilled and - get this - pleasant! - none of the attitude that's so common in many high-demand LA restaurants. Food is through-the-roof good, from staples to new items. And the space, inside or patio, is wonderful. Love, love, love.
All was great but the food while delicious, was over salted.
Food is beyond ! Nice atmosphere and such a beautiful garden
Celebrated my one year anniversary living in LA at Spartina and it was the perfect night! Even spotted Jason Segel walking out as we sat down LOL #LALIFE Their outdoor space is pretty and cozy and magical. There were five of us there for the evening. Great cocktail menu and AMAZING food to pick and share. Highly recommend the Burrata, Friend Polenta, and Pizzas. Just a great place to chill, graze over really incredible food & drinks. Staff is awesome and the ambiance is ON POINT. Thanks Spartina for a wonderful evening!! xoxo
Wonderful service, the absolutely most delicious food, great lighting
We really enjoyed our meal. The cauliflower pasta was amazing and the calamari appetizer was really good too. We also liked the pizza. The service was friendly and they did not rush us to order or leave when we were done. Would go back again.
Spartina was a last minute dinner decision because it is close to my sons home. We decided to try it. Food was fresh and absolutely delicious. We shared the meatball appetizer. Hardy portions and the sauce was very savory, a bit of sweet and tangy, very delicious. Son ordered a pasta dish that is a fav at Spartina, super yummy and rich! I had the pepperoni pizza drizzled with honey, delightful. We shared home made tiramisu which was fresh, fluffy and a great way to top off our dinner. We are both getting over illness so no wine on this visit.
We were able to get a table in the bar area, but Spartina is more communal seating which is not my favorite. There are option for outdoor seating with plenty of heaters to keep folks warm on chilly evenings. All in all, great food, nice ambiance, great location and we will be back.
Food was pretty good. I think I was expecting more from the food though, after reading reviews. The service was fantastic. They were right on top of everything. Atmosphere is great for parties, dates and nights out. Would be nice to sit outside during a hot day. Overall nice experience but not sure if we will go back.
I’ve been to Spartina five times and it never disappoints. They keep the old favorites on the menu but always have new things to try. I love this place and look forward to coming back soon!
The food was mediocre. My friend ordered a the roasted cauliflower pasta without cheese and it was basically noodles, water, and walnuts. I ordered a drink but it was never added to the tab or brought out with dinner. And when we were seated we were sat in the back corner outside. It wasn’t a super enjoyable experience and don’t see myself coming back.
