Sotto Sopra Ratings and Reviews
Prices were not too high. Food was just okay, I was hoping for something a bit better and the service was kind of slow. My empty bowl sat for about 10 minutes before it got picked up. Could have been the a less experienced crew the night after valentines day. Very cool space with awesome artwork on the walls. I probably wouldn't go back.
My wife and I dined here for Valentine's Day, and had a wonderful evening. The food and service was fantastic, and I was overall very impressed. Usually, expectations are lowered for VDay, as many restaurants are swamped, offer a limited menu, and are overall slogging to get through the night. Not so at Sotta Sopra. It was busy, but they all handled the crowd with professional excellence all around. Wonderful experience!
This was our first visit and we were suitably impressed. The quality of the food was superb, the portion size adequate, but dining area was narrow and loud. The price was on the high side, but not outrageously so given the meal was so good. I would go back.
Friends of ours have raved about Sotto Sopra for a long time and we decided to give it a shot. I am glad we did. We were a few minutes early for our reservation and were immediately sat. Service was fantastic. The food was even better. The decor and atmosphere in the restaurant was very romantic. The price for the evening was what you would expect from a higher end Italian place in the city. We will definitely be back. They also had valet, which was great as it was raining on the evening we went.
We go to Sotto Sopra often. It has wonderful authentic Italian food and is better than most of the restaurants in the Little Italy section of Baltimore. We go out of our way to frequent this restaurant and will continue to do so. I am of Italian heritage and have taken many family members there and they love it.
I absolutely love dining here because of the fantastic Beverage Manager Mike! The service is always top notch & he’s such a sweetheart that goes above & beyond!
Lindsey, another amazing Manager makes you feel so welcome & is dedicated in ensuring you’ve had a great dining experience. I could go on & on! I recommend this fine, classic establishment to everyone I know!
All around lovely experience. Food was served wonderfully hot. Attractively plated and quite delicious. While puzzled by an unexpected wait between apps and mains, obvious care put into the entrees justified the wait. Pasta was silky and appropriately sauced. Branzino was delightful. Highly recommended.
We were friends and had tickets to the BSO, our waiter Derrick was AMAZING! He made sure we were done without rushing us and time to get where we needed to go.
When there was a line for the ladies room he went into the men’s room wiped it down so ladies could use the men’s room! He went above and beyond what he needed to!
I totally love Sotto Sopra! I am never disappointed and always enjoy an authentic Italian meal wonderfully prepared. Couple this with the restaurant week price of $35 for three courses, and I’m in heaven. Loved the beet and mozzarella appetizer, and their Spaghetti Carbonara is a longtime favorite of mine...so flavorful. While nothing like my grandmother’s strudel, the SS version is delicious. Fabulous meal!
We love this busy, happy spot in our favorite part of the city. Pork ossobucco and cioppino were wonderful on a cold winter night. We arrived early so our visit could include some time at the beautifully illuminated bar. I recommend "the sinner," made with redemption rye and served in a chic little coupe. So much fun
This is a casually elegant neighborhood restaurant that makes you feel at home and pampered. The food and service were excellent, and the ambiance beautiful. I took my mother (93) for restaurant week and all the staff looked after her to make sure she was comfortable. She had a great time and loved the food and servers. That's my Mom in the photo!
I just want to say that though I only gave 4 stars - the food was fantastic!!! I took off a star based on the fact the seating was suuuuuuper tight. We were in a middle row seated at two tops that were literally less than a foot apart(between the tables) and the aisles were so tight that people were bumping into both me and my husband the whole dinner. For the price I’d like to not be packed in like sardines. I’m that being said the food was amazing, our waiter was attentive and we will likely be back
Sotto Sophra used to be one of my favorite restaurants in baltimore. I had the pork ossobuco, which is one of my favorite dish. The taste has changed from when i had it last time and the portion size decreased noticeably.. its still good but not as good as when i had it a while ago. (I ordered the dish several times before)
Different dishes were either amazing or just good but not amazing. The mussels were spectacular, while the flatbread was plain and literally on a cracker. The chicken dish was amazing, and my salmon was seasoned well but did not have any flavor or sauce for the potato mash. The desserts were amazing (we got the marscapone cheesecake and apple strudel). I would come here again and try more items.
I went for restaurant week. I had the mussels, gnocchi and creme brulee. All three were excellent. My friend had the polenta, papardelle and tiramisu. All treated really fresh as well. I will definitely come back here. I'm lucky to have restaurant week because it allows me to try places like Sotto Sopra.
